Thank you for this video!!! I had a major auger jam, got the auger out, but had no idea how to clear out the petrified tube! Your fix worked BEAUTIFULLY!! The drill was THE ANSWER!! Thank you again!! 👍🏼
Great vid thanks! I didn't buy a hammer drill, but the technique gave me enough info to wiggle it out with a large pair of vise grips. Removing the motor bolt proved too difficult because of the angle the auger stuck in. I had to use a hammer and chisel to break off the nut and replaced it with a simple cotter pin.
Nice idea. I wished you would have showed the connection of the Hammer Drill, and the *break of the Pellets. Was it a fast or slow drill, at the beginning? I have this big issue with my Pittboss. I was just thinking about this the other day. I found your video.
Sorry about that. My filming was not the best since I was one handed. The screw fit into the chuck on the drill perfectly just like a drill bit. I just pulled the trigger on the drill and the clog instantly released. Hope this helps.
@@frogfrogger6260 If you try this with a regular drill you're going to have a bad time. I've had to do this on my PB 1000 a few times, hammer drill gets it done right away. Anymore if there are pellets left over after a smoke i empty them back into a bucket. If I'm grilling I put in just enough. Even with a cover they still get swollen and wet. I kept it in the garage once and they still sucked up moisture after sitting for a few weeks.
@@mrautomotif8996 after blowing the entire morning working on it, I finally threw in the towel and called pit boss warranty dept. they are replacing the entire auger assembly
@@dad_churbin8112 pit boss wood pellets are the culprit. They have an extreme amount of saw dust in the mix. I use a plastic food strainer to filter my pellets before going into the hopper. Other major brands like traeger don’t seem have this issue.
@@dad_churbin8112 not sure yet. I’m trying other brands now to see who has less dust. Although the number of brands is increasing which is a good thing.

This is the best video I've seen yet for an auger jam I'm gon to have to remember this trick
Finally!!! Someone with a solution.....great idea. Good video
Thanks! Had this issue with my Camp Chef today. This did the trick.
Thanks for this video! This worked amazingly! I was out there all day, so defeated but this worked like a charm.
The hammer drill. Yet another tool I haven't used but looks like it did the trick! Would love to see an update video on the SVO paint at some point.
I have an update video on the svo but the 4K video locked up my phone. Maybe this weekend.

Thanks! I’m sure there are multiple solutions. Anything power tool related is my go to :).
Love this idea, i can save my grill. By that point i would just pitch it and buy new
Your awsome. Thanks for doin it before me!

@@mrautomotif8996 For the pellets being like cement, the drill didn't struggle?
@@frogfrogger6260 no not really. That’s why I used the hammer drill. It shocked loose the pellets.
