- In this video I show the 3 samples I ordered from SwiftPOD on Printify.com to test the best way to get white ink to show up well on dark colored garments! I tested regular white ink, a doubled up design on Printify and testing off-white hex codes. Stay tuned to see which looks the best!

Since releasing this video, Printify has confirmed that doubling up designs like I tested, makes no difference. They actually flatten the image before printing it. So the takeaway from this video should be to use off white prints when doing a white ink on black sweatshirt design! Here are two hex codes for off white colors that I tested in this video #FCFCFC #F5F5F5
How exactly do you use the hex codes to get this effect with your design?
How can they say it makes no difference? It clearly made a difference on the shirts you tested??
@@Michael-c5e5x thats my thoguht! It def made a difference
I really don't think you understand the impact you're having on people's lives. This goes far beyond just simply sharing valuable information. The level of the information you share is life-changing for many. When you deal with someone who has always felt less than for not choosing the traditional route (college) and going with being an entrepreneur, gaining knowledge from people like you on this journey could mean the difference between someone giving up and continuing on. Having confidence in what you do makes it easier to trust in yourself! Thank you so much Cassiy for all you do!!! You're such a blessing!!! 💕💕🙌
Well said!
Wow what a beautiful comment
@@CassiyJohnson There certainly is enough to go around! ❤️
Couldn’t agree more!!! This could be a print on demand course.
Perfect comment! I second
I"ve been watching POD TH-camrs for about 15 months, and this is the first time I have heard about this, so thank you very much! I find your videos very helpful and appreciate your generosity with the amount of information and tips that you share. It's easy to tell that you really do care about others having success too.💖
I am so glad that comes across in my videos Amanda, really hope this video gives you some good tips to getting better prints and that you find tons of success
I agree!
Agreed 100%
Another tip about ordering samples when you do put more than one design on your shirt. What I mean is like make a contact sheet of your designs and have that printed on your shirt. That way you can see more designs on the same product that you're going be printing on. If you don't know what a contact sheet is it's basically a grid I think of tic-tac-toe in each square you would be putting an image in it. Then you're basically getting more samples of your designs printed on one shirt or sweatshirt or tote bag etc... You could even do a all over Print or front and back sides to get even more. This way you can see more of your products printed and make sure the colors right and you don't have to keep ordering samples. I'm a professional photographer and we use Contact Sheets all the time before digital.
Speaking of that one other tip to keep track of all your files if you have access to Adobe Lightroom or aperture you could upload all your graphics into that so you can see all your files at once. I just thought about that last night. You can also just print those print sheets of paper put all your designs on them that are 1 inch or 2 in. Squares. For your own records. The longer you do this you may start losing track. Also hard drives crash. I know this from experience. I know a lot of you were using Canva you can do this process there.
excellent idea on printing a sample of many designs on one shirt! 💙
@@ems246 I'm glad I could help. We all are trying to save a little money and get as much work done as we can fast.
I'm not sure why more people don't talk about this though or maybe it just doesn't occur to them. It didn't occur to me until after I ordered my first sample. So now I always do it ! I'm getting ready to place an order of samples now but I have to get all the designs done first.
I do know that one video on Printify they mentioned doing this, but no one talks about it. Know one on TH-cam talks about it.
💗 I will be adding black sweatshirts with white print to my shop because of this. (an test this with red for christmas sweatshirts)
Yeah I agree with many of the positive posts. Cassiy is different from AND better than the rest of POD TH-camrs because of really her helpful and useful content
That means so much, thank you!! I'm still new at this and I appreciate all the encouragement in the comments!! :)
@@CassiyJohnson NEW but FABULOUS!!!
Printify! Thank you for taking the time to do this, it’s the kind of thing we wouldn’t know until an unhappy customer contacted us. you are so good at educating us, I appreciate the time and effort you take to share your knowledge.
Really appreciate your nice comment, I am so glad I can help save you and others time and frustration
Thanks! Cassiy I bought your class also. I am getting back to POD as I finalize my trademarks and copyrights.
This was my a big question and I appreciate the comparison.
You are fabulous for doing this.
Wow thank you for the super generous comment ❤️ I am so glad that you’re getting good value from my videos and course 🔥🔥
Printify.
Personally, I think the doubled-up white really makes the print pop. Thanks so much! I'm learning so quickly from you. Now, if I can just get my bank to get it's thumb out, I can get things rolling!
So glad my videos have been helpful for you!! Congrats on getting started!!
Thank you so much!
This video is exactly what I needed after receiving samples of black sweatshirts with white designs. My shop is very new and public with a few orders going out. I panicked because the last thing I want are bad review. The last minute of reassurance totally calmed me. Thank you so much!!
I have been doubling up the image, but a friend just sent me a picture of the shirts she just ordered. The colors look faded honestly. I'm not sure if that's just how it looks or if it was because it was a black shirt. I'm looking into just making shirts myself at this point or not offering black shirts.
I really can’t thank you enough for this great business advice, I stopped my business for two weeks in order to solve the faded white issue
Thank you Cassiy. You use your platform and experience to empower so many women - especially women like myself who are from 3rd world countries with huge unemployment % whose only option for a steady income is having an online business. I'm from a country with 70% youth unemployment and finding a job is extremely difficult nevermind finding one where it pays a living wage, so going online for my business is the way for me to better my circumstances. I wish you and your family a very blessed 2023! May your shop be even more successful this year.
Duplium!!!! By far the best...just tested out a few different companies in Canada USA and the UK...not only amazing saturated ink but they ship the next day on both sample orders.
Yes I was really happy with Duplium last year!
OHHHHH MYYYYY GOOOOOOODNESS! You just blew my mind!!! I've been doing POD for years and didnt know this! smh
Happy to help! There's always more to learn!
Cassiy, i just found your channel and have been watching video after video, and purchased the mock up bundle from your store. The contents you’re offering us are incredible. I find you so inspiring, thank you so much!
I am so glad that my channel has been helpful for you
Cassiy has really cool spelling of her name and is hated by gatekeepers. Thank you
PRINTIFY, for sure! ❤ Thank you Cassiy!
So glad you enjoyed this video!! Thanks for watching!! ❤️
omg I'm so happy to finally find a video of cassiy that helps prints on dark colour clothes. I was so upset with the navy sample I ordered and literally no white undercoat was put under the main print and I can see all the navy under the print.
I’d go with the off white color recommendation from this video for best results! Printify has stayed that they compress the files so there is no need to add multiple files to an item, my print must have been a fluke that it was better!
@CassiyJohnson Hi cassiy thanks for replying. I actually made a sweatshirt with white pink and grey on a navy sweatshirt. And the colour came out horrendously. You could see all the navy under the print. The hex colours you gave are for white specifically. But what about pink and light grey I put on my navy top? is there a way to do off pink? or off grey as the navy was coming though all those colours I chose on the sweatshirt. Newb here and only learning though your videos. :(
Amazing as always! Thank you so much for all do. The amount of information you share is incredible. I'm in your course and I would be lost pursuing this without you!
You are so sweet Theresa, I am so glad that my videos and course have been able to help you on your journey
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this information! Such a simple fix but you've saved us the time, money, errors, and effort of figuring it out! ✨💛✨
So glad I can help save some time and money ❤️❤️
This video couldn't be more timely! I'm just getting started with Printify and I ordered samples of t-shirts in white, black, gray and a creamy yellow. The black ink on white was fantatastic, but all the others had issues with ink. Like the white ink you showed in the first sample, all of my samples were crackled looking. This video has helped tremendously! I'm going to try using the hex codes. I've also heard that the colored shirts are blends and that affects the ink too. The white shirt was the Bella and Canvas 3000 and other than the fact that the t-shirt wasn't as heavy as I wanted, the image came out so amazing. Anyway...thank you so much for sharing! Your videos are always so inspiring and chock full of great stuff!
Your channel is great. Every time i have a question (as im just getting started) i come to youtube and your videos always answer my questions to the dot. Thanks!
I’m SO glad my channel is your go-to place when you have questions!! Thanks so much for watching!! ❤️
Man, so glad I saw this early on when I only had on white text design on my shop to fix. Thanks!!!
I'm so grateful and thankful for people like you! It's a good day to have a good day! :D
PRINTIFY- this video is so helpful. I bought a black sweatshirt for myself with a single layer of white & ithe design chipped away after a few washes.😮
I was trying to figure out how to get my white design to display more vibrantly. Thanks so much for this helpful video!
So glad you found it helpful!
I’d love to see a video about what to do if there is a quality issue? How you would go about the process. 🖤
Hi Nadine! I talk about what to do if there's a quality issue in my returns and exchanges video th-cam.com/video/J8MVU8OxryM/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps explain the process! Thanks for watching!
Printify! Thank you! I have been noticing that my prints were not looking as bright as I had hoped.
Printify! Wow! This video is so helpful. I've heard about doubling up for brighter whites, but not the hex codes. That is a much better solution for designs with light and dark colors. Thank you!
Printify has come out since this video and said that doubling up designs doesn’t actually do anything anyways since they flatten the image before the print it so the hex codes is the best option!
Cassiy Johnson, you are amazing! This is EXACTLY what I was researching tonight! I believe the Lord led me to your video! Thank you for your selfless, over the top, service to others in the POD field. I've actually been doing F8F8F8 on dark grey heather. So, I'm glad I've been in the ballpark with this. I'm going to switch to the first hex code you listed AND jump into using black shirts and I even feel brave enough to do black sweatshirts and hoodies after seeing your video! Like someone already mentioned in the comments, I don't know if you know the impact you are having. You for sure saved me hours of research and more than that, the pain of uncertainty about the quality of shirts my buyers are getting! God Bless you!
Good afternoon , how do you use the hex codes??
I am so so glad you found my channel and that you are getting value
Sorry I didn't cover this in the video! You use hex codes within your design software, so if you use Canva then click the text you want to change the color, then go to the rainbow box in the top left corner, you will be able to type in a number at the bottom of the rainbow box to choose what color in there that you want. You would then copy and paste one of the hex codes in the description.
Thank you. This was very helpful. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this. I appreciate how you share real issues we all might face beyond the standard talking points.
So glad you found this video helpful! Thanks for watching!!
You are a gorgeous lady and a wise entrepreneur. I have gained immense confidence on what I am going to do in the POD business by just looking at you. Keep up the good work!

PRINTIFY! - Thank you again for a great video! You've helped my brand new POD business so much. Very grateful for your content!
I’m so glad I get to help you start your journey with POD!! Wishing you all the best!! ❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I wish I would have seen it before I ordered samples using the double up method. I will definitely us the off-white ink moving forward. Blessings to you Cassiy!
Thank you! I’ve been trying to get some answers from printify about why the print does not seem like good quality b they assured me all looked ok (file, ink, etc) I didn’t realize the white on black is “a thing” 😊
This is so helpful! I ordered a sample black sweatshirt with white text on it some time ago, and have shied away from them ever since because I was bummed at how faded the white looked! Thanks again! This is amazing!
As someone just starting out in POD this is excellent. Thank you so much xx
PRINTIFY! Another great video, Cassiy! You don't get the credit you deserve for giving us the best tips on POD. Hopefully that changes soon! Question: do you think this would work on red? I've had white come out pink on red hoodies in the past. Thanks again!
Yes any darker color this will work well on! But I always make my mocks on red or maroon a little more transparent for the design to make sure it looks realistic to how it will print.
Printify. I always watch your videos the whole way! Brilliant information again.
this is greta information, i just assumed i had to deal with the kind of vintage looking white print.
So glad this was helpful for you! Thanks for watching!
Great comparison! Thank you for making this video. 👍

I’m about to start my business and I would’ve never known or thought about the doubling up on white for black, thank you so so much for sharing what you know!!!!
You're welcome!! So glad this was helpful for you!!
Hi Cassiy, could you make video on the best font colors to use on which colors of t shirts?
As always, your information is always so concise and practical without wasting a lot of time to make a video longer, I very much appreciate that and you are always my top pick to watch! Question: If I go back to my products that are white on black and change the graphic, will Printify use the current graphic if it is not published again or do you have to publish again?
Yes you can go back and edit old ones and just save as a draft instead of publishing and they will use the current graphic that you have when printing!
It’s soo Amazing how much more knowledge I gather just going through the comments. I ordered samples and noticed the print size were a bit smaller, so I increased the sizes in printify and published again I got so overwhelmed updating all the mock-ups again!! Thank you soo much Cassiy you are the G.O.A.T!
I am just about to get started in my Etsy journey. I cannot thank you enough for your videos! You have been the biggest help in getting up to speed very quickly! Keep up the great work and thanks again for sharing this with everyone!
Congrats on getting started! My best advice is not to wait. Your shop might get suspended when you open it and you may need to wait a few days while they verify your bank, so I'd recommend at least opening your accounts and getting that out of the way so when you are ready to get going, you don't have so many obstacles standing in your way. It's going to feel overwhelming but don't try to learn everything before starting, there is just too much. Just learn as you go and take one baby step forward everyday in your business! Best of luck!
@@CassiyJohnson thanks so much! I managed to open, and get my accounts set up without any issues (and your advice is why I went ahead and set up shop). First 5 items listed...hundreds to get together and list :)

Thank you for such a helpful video. I've been doing POD for a year now, and I have never seen anyone talk about that particular issue. I don't know if I would have quite believed it if you hadn't had the samples made! I went through this morning and doubled up the files (very carefully) on all my white designs, and will design with slightly off white from here on out.
That's what I did as well. Doubled up old designs and will use off white going forward! Had I not seen this video, I would've gone back and done extra work for nothing and gotten frustrated.

Printify. Cassidy you rock at what you do, how you explain things. I'm glad I found you early in my pod development
I learn so many things from you! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
This is super helpful, thank you! Ironically I had just duplicated one of my designs by accident. I was adding graphics extra graphics to a top where I already had my first draft of the design on. So you know when you add another one it sits on top of the first one, and this particular design was pastel and I was going for a trippy effect, so it looked even better and I just left it like that. Meanwhile, this video was ready for me in another tab lol. I'll definitely have to check out those hex codes.

Fantastic video as usual! Thank you! Have you already done a video on hex codes? That's my first time hearing of them and would love to learn more on how to use them! 🤗
I probably should have explained that in this video sorry! I don't have one on hex codes but essentially on Canva when you go to select your color from the little color box you can click on that's like a rainbow, it will have a number at the bottom telling you what the "hex code" is for that color. This is where you would enter one of the hex codes from the description! Hope that helps for now

So glad I came across this video right after watching your guidance on adding sweatshirts and using designs we may have already created (other than summer designs). I am assuming for tshirts we dont have the issue with printing as the material is not as thick.
