Mix it with alcohol, 3 to 1 ratio to spray it on with a fine mist spray bottle or same ratio but with also 1 last white school glue to brush it on with a foam brush. I've done a couple hundred with the first method and about 30 or more with the second method. With the alcohol it will dry faster. The glue helps bond to the tile. Add a little food coloring to help you see that you get the tile covered evenly.
Thanks MCF! - Technique has been around for a while, but I do think I was the one who first started to use the water based marking spray - Thanks for watching.
ohh ok lightburn with the xtool s1.. i take it you can set the direction of the laser as you had it going up and down from left to right.. could you have it run from the bottom moving to the top of the unit. ? i had a little play with lightburn when i first had my laser but never used it that much.. i tend to use the xtool software.. but if i can get it to start at the bottom and work up towards the back of the unit i may switch as it would make for a better time lapses for me as i hate the laser unit crossing over the image. and would have loved to have seen the skulls on a tile.. :)
THIS IS SOOO AMAZING AND INCREDIBLY HELPFUL!! Im a potter and make my own tiles!!! Do you happen to know if these tiles are low or midfire? Have you tried to glaze over the tile after this and fire it? A celadon would look amazing!!❤ I’d love to know how hard it was to learn the software for the machine? Do they have more straightforward easier machines? Thanks so very much. ❤
They have the vitrified chart showing a .3 absorption and a "do not freeze" on the listing, so I'm going to say they are low fire, but I couldn't say what cone. I have never tried to fire an overglaze on top of them. The software isn't hard if you've used graphic software on the computer befor
@ With that absorption rate I would assume they are stoneware. Earthenware doesn’t actually vitrify. That’s great. I have absolutely no computer experience at all really so that’s why I was asking. Thanks so much. Where did you get the tiles?
That looks incredible. What's the toxicity from doing this with this paint? No one ever seems to ask or know this. I'm concerned cause I have neighbors next to me. I do however have an external exhaust unit with filters I bought.

I'm definitely going to try that next- I have tons of the stuff. Thanks for the tip.
@corvusmoonstudio let me know how it turns out for you.
@CSP.D-zignWerqz will do!
Freaking cool!!
I agree!
This was exactly what I was looking for, I also was not having any luck with the brushing on methode
I've gotten some good tips on the brushing method, but I think I'll stick with spraying for now
Very cool video and technique! Thanks for sharing. That's scratch free result is pretty amazing!

Yes, actually, that was a mistake on my part, and I never reset it from the previous job - LOL
Cool technique. You said you havnt tried to reglaze the tile? Have you tried it on lowfire pottery? I might see if it works on some of my work.
Please show us the results!

Is it possible to do this with the regular XTool Diode laser (the 20 watt)? 🙂💕
That's what I usually use (I use 3 lasers). This S1 just makes it more convenient. The D1 Pro or D1 will work great - maybe better.
@ Wonderful, and thanks for getting back to me…it’s really appreciated. It’s such a great idea. 🙂💕
I absolutely love this. Would any brand of Line Marking Spray work? Can't wait to try it out with my F1
All I know is that it has to be white (titanium) - try it and get back with us. I'd love to know if something works better!

Have you tried with colours at all? Is it possible?
You can use a colored tile and etch black into that. The only way to get the image in color is to etch down through layers of paint.
Wondering if I could use this on my stainless steel bottle openers using my 50JPT Fiber...
Never used fiber - was under the impression they could etch metal pretty deep without anything.
