Zoom MS70CDR Multistomp Ambient/Drones Patches

  • Demo few original patches I've created with the Zoom MS70CDR Multistomp.
    This is another those really cool multi-purpose-effect pedals. Ages before I got the Line6 HX Stomp or the Meris Mercury7, this was my main multi-purpose pedal, especially as a reverb generator (and still it is, depending on the context and what I need to do, for example its ZNR noise gate is a brilliant one, when dealing with high gain stuff).
    Really nice about the MS70CDR is that it features few algorithms inspired by brands such Strymon, Eventide and Line6. These effects are not as high-end and detailed as the originals do but I was able to compare these unit side by side few times, and to my ears the MS70CDR comes very close: So close nobody would notice in a live context!
    In this video features some original patches I've create using the Zoom by itself alone.
    I won't charge a penny for you to have these patches, but if you enjoyed these and would like to support my work, check out my music on bandcamp:
    joelgilardini.bandcamp.com/
    Gear used:
    Nude Guitars Baritone (tunes B to b)
    Zoom MS70CDR
    AMT SS20 (clean preamp)
    Zoom H5
    Audacity (for recording and a simple normalization)
    Remember: Ingenuity is your only limit!
    Edit 2023: I lately found out about this 3rd party app called the ZOOM EFFECT MANAGER! This is a wonderful app that allow you to manage, change and load any Zoom effect block into Multistomps (no matter which model). This means you can for example have distortions and amp emulations available into the MS70CDR! It also features few additional 3rd party effect blocks that allows you to split effect in parallel over L and R outputs (like reverb L out, delay R out), and add wet/dry to effect blocks without a mix control.

    Very nice demo! Thanks. Having discovered recently the existence of the Zoom effects manager - some kind of mod / hack, I am seriously considering acquiring the Zoom MS70CDR Multistomp pedal. I wish some similar mod would exist for other pedals like the ones by TC Helicon and more. Someone should develop an open-source pedal together with an open-library of effects online to freely add, modify or delete, something of a collective contribution platform.

  • @dillipphunbar7924

    Thanks for the software. I was using 2.0 on a cracked version, and wasn't aware of this manager. PC recognized it immediately and software update seems successful. 70CDR was my main pedal for years, and still has a place dedicaTED TO THE yAMAHA djx AND kORG vOLCA fm. The only other pedal that is more powerful (that I now own), is the Beebo which services the Neutron and other eurorack modules via a Bored Brain Patchulator. But the Beebo with it's touchscreen and flexible routings, isn't as immediate as the Zoom. Following on Bandcamp.

      To me it's a gem of a pedal! And I tell you, I did AB comparison of all the Strymon and Eventide emulations: the zoom is not as hifi as the originals, but it's very close!

      @@ricocasazza you can't compete with Eventide or Strymon's algos, but the Zoom for the price does a wonderful Job, IMHO. For me the trick is combining together more effects to get the results I want, like I did in the preset I show in the video. Let's say, for live situation the Zoom is amazing, but maybe in studio you want something with more high fidelity.

    Man, this is the pedal I want, it has all the delays and reverbs that my gt10 doesnt have.. Honestly I doubt gt100 or gt1000 have them. That particle delay and things like that, I am gonna put to work my gt10 since it has some interesting delays that I never paid attention, it has modulated delays, reverse delay, and warp delay.. which tells me that I havent explored my gt10 in depth, but there are delays and reverbs from this device that I would love to have. You are not the first one that says it is not the best quality, but if I wanted to buy a high quality that has all those delays and reverbs in ms70 or ms100, which device could I buy??

    • @JoelGilardini
      @JoelGilardini  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always find amazing and amusing that nobody else came you with a similar Multistomp-workalike concept after Zoom. After all these years I still love my MS70.

      @@JoelGilardini If there was a similar thing like this, I would buy it.
      I heard of a Line6 delay modeler, or something. I was tempted to buy it, but it is quite primitive.
      but honestly man, I love all the stuff I hear from it, I wish it had more quality.
      How is it that nobody made a device with all sorts of delays, reverbs and modulations ???
      Also, I saw a ms100, it is a purple one. What do you think about it? is it exactly like this?? or is it a different device?? have you tried it?

    • @JoelGilardini
      @JoelGilardini  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@capsuleboy I used to have also the MS100 (note it's discontinued), it features distortions and amp emulations, but you have the same full array of delay, reverbs, filter and modulations as on the MS70. Back then it was cool because there was this IOS app, which you could manage the FXs on the MS100 (via bluetooth), and newer FXs where added times to times (but then prior discontinuing no more new effects were released, but now all those effects are available on all Multistomps). In my setup once I used MS70 for reverbs and MS100 for delay and modulations, but then I copied the same presets on both units, so that I could use either as a backup. At some point the MS100 became redundant (since I have also a HX Stomp, Mercury7 and Timeline), so I gave it to a friend, and kept only the MS70. if you need only delay, reverbs and modulation go for the MS70. If you need the distortions check out the MS50 or the MS60Bass (these have mono input, but I think the rev/delay/mod should be the same).

    • @capsuleboy
      @capsuleboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoelGilardini man, thanks for the answer. I was thinking that ms100 was different or didnt have some delays or stuff.
      So ms100 is an improved ms70?? I ask because sometimes in order to include more things they lower the quality of effects.. If this is not the case, then ms100 may be worth, after all.
      Also, if you wanted to achieve all those delays and reverbs from ms but in higher quality, what would you buy?
      You say you have HX Stomp, Mercury7 and Timeline.. I am gonna check all that.

    I heard there's a hack you can add any of the zoom pedals effects to any zoom pedal...
