    I was worried for him after his interview after getting bronze in tokyo but I had a feeling that that sports psychologist would help...I think its time more athletes (male and female) add sports psychologists to their team.

      I think many athletes see some sort of psychologist to help them keep it altogether. The difference is that the new generation tends to feel they need to share everything they do.

    Rai Benjamin is one of my favorite runners. He so devastated after winning the gold at the Olympics but the fact that he's running a 200 m after normally being a 400 m hurdler I think is amazing and and he's in the answers are right he has no pressure on him and I think it's great that he can just kind of chill out and just have some fun.

      He’ll probably start doing more to improve his flat speed between hurdles almost similar to sydney. He seen warholm is flat out faster than him so hes trying to improve.

      Rai has ran a sub 20’s in the 200m back in 2018. He has also ran a 10.03 in the 100m last season.

      He's never beaten Karsten Warholm(that dude is outta this world) and Warholm ran a wr ,so it's no shame in that silver, Benjamin was not the favorite heading into that race. I know he wanted that gold but anything less than silver would of been a shock and the real disappointment

    Man, I wish we would have had any performances like that in the men’s sprints at the Olympics. I’m not counting the 400m hurdles Benjamin’s performance was incredible in that race. Hopefully we can get it together for the next time around.

    Remarkable time time! He's peaking after the Olympics, but his bronze medal time of 19.74 is a really good time. I hope he runs another meet before the season ends to see if he can lower the time. Looking forward to see if he can repeat his world championship victory.

      That track at Tokyo ran super long. Meaning, to those running on it, it felt like they were running 50% further than the race was supposed to be. Look at what happened to the best 100m runner in the world (this year.) Suddenly, he had no finish (unluck every other 100m he's run this year.) This is partially why Noah actually made a run for the lead, and tired (hung.) It ran like a 300m race. That's also why he severely misjudged the lead he had in the semifinal race. That caused him to get a poor lane for the final.

      Because NBC made a deal with the Olympics to have the coverage behind a paywall. Diamond League allows their coverage to be shown without a paywall

      Because the Olympics have strict guidelines to follow when you are licensed to post their videos. They probably set time limits of what you can and cannot show. They have the strictest DMCA rules, hence why you don't ever see any Olympic videos unless it's licensed.

    Really good to see Lyles look his old self again. 2022 is about to to be CRAZY year for Track and Field. Times are only going to get faster and faster as athletes are adjusting to covid and finally starting to hit their stride. Hopefully everyone has a great off season, stay healthy, and compete at a high level when it's time to do so. Eugene gonna be on fire next year.

      I think these races are actually quite similar in quality, enough so that the difference could just be running heats/semis vs not. A 19.74 with -0.5 m/s wind is equivalent to 19.70 with 0.0 wind. A 19.52 with +1.5 m/s wind is equivalent to a 19.61 with 0.0 wind. So in terms of quality this was 0.09 better imo, & that could just be the difference of fatigue. I agree though, it has got to be very hard to time your peak to perfection.

      @@fender1000100 Degrasse may have been a rabbit in the Bolt era, but those days are gone, he's olympic champion now, which shows he can come through in a clutch situation, that's huge, with that new level of confidence, anything's possible, looking forward to upcoming races

      Noah needs to really improve his start. He's a closer, not a starter. He needs to run the curve better as well. I think he'll PR at 1944.

      Noah Lyles will run at least 19.31 on his best day in the next 6 years. He has too much talent not to. In fact even Blake's 19.26 can go. Only Bolts record will remain in tact. Until probably Knighton runs 19.18. Some time before 2030.

    I am not sure Noah Lyles would have won with this time. He ran a 19.52 with a +1.5m/s tailwind while degrasse ran a 19.62 with a -0.5m/s headwind. That a big difference in wind condition. degrasse would probably have run a low 19.5 and probably under 19.5 with +1.5m/s tailwind

      Tbf, Tokyo track was extremely fast by all accounts, although so is Hayward so who knows? I wish Lyles would’ve been on when it counted.

    Track is tough. Mentally exhausting, staying motivated is a challenge. He was in great form and ready to go in 2020. Must have been a challenge tapering and ramping up. This is a great time and he handled losing earlier with dignity. He's great for the sport and great to see his swagger back. Had there been no Usain Bolt he would have been valued a lot more. Let's appreciate this young man. Both him and Degrasse.
