Literally was just told by a real estate friend last week that "no one does this" because it is "too expensive and cheaper to tear it down for something new". I'd literally said, "Why not put on a modern addition and 2nd story and preserve the craftsmanship of these old Spanish houses"? Bless y'all for doing this!

I have lived in small houses, medium ones, and large ones. I think the maximum size home anyone needs is around 4000 sq ft. That is big enough for a large family and more than one generation living there comfortably, but still small enough to care for yourself and manage. Anything larger is honestly a waste of space and energy and serves no purpose.
That’s still huge! Mine is 3100 sq ft and even that I feel is too big, especially when I clean it. 😆

This is my style of house, a megamansion is a headache of maintenance (i'm not talking about money, it's stressful to live with a team of workers)

It feels like a home, and the greenery at the front makes it secluded. Cons are that the landscaping would be costly to maintain, but if you can afford the house, you can afford the landscaping.

Absolutely stunning. I love Spanish Colonial and traditional Mexican architecture. The landscaping is stunning, what a delightful surprise that back garden space is too.

Fresh take on Spanish-style home. Very airy and bright - and even without the usual bold spanish colors, I see the spanish touches here and there.
I love the big window above the bathtub....so when you are taking a relaxing bath you can enjoy the view of the garden.

Those modern bathrooms/kitchen are not in alignment with a Spanish design. Heartbreaking that they were not renovated in beautiful Spanish tiles, etc. Other than that, very pretty.

Love, love, love Spanish style homes. That’s one thing I always wanted. SoCal has gone nuts with house prices. Bet this house was originally 20k when built, if that. It’s a nice house if you don’t leave, once out the area is super noisy, crowded and not secured. Probably why all these people moved to holmby hills and Calabasas.

That is a really beautiful house. And for a change, I even think it's fairly priced. My only quibble is that it is located in my second least favorite city in my least favorite state.

Texas. Not sure if I have a favorite city though I do like Denver and Savannah as well as Charleston.

Wow, this is stunning. Two things i would change is the countertops in the kitchen. Just so everything isnt white.
And the master bathroom caninets. Not digging the wood. I woulda gone with something more elegant and antiqueish with curvisture.

Stagers put the same furnishings in every house. Sad. That’s not really doing the job.
Idk what modern Spanish staging would be. My mom is an interior designer. I once commented to her that there is no comfortable Spanish-style sofa upon which one could relax. She confirmed this, saying, “I don’t think the Catholic Church encouraged relaxing.” Also consider that women wore corsets and sat quite upright. There was no lying on the sofa. If you have ideas, please reply.
