I recommend anyone new after you buy a base package dont upgrade spend that money toward better pc parts or flight sticks they will genuinely make your experience much better and after that if you feel like you wanna support the game still then do what you want.
Also worth to add to this that this game is heavy cpu and ram based. Just going from 16 to 32gb fast RAM could potentially fix most peoples issues. Also newer cpu will handle most of the load of this game very well. GPU's are weirdly not taxed as heavy as anything else. Kinda the opposite of other games so people could have a nice gpu and then get stutters cuz of it in SC. While a "bad" rig with ram and cpu could potentially run it very smooth
if you are dead set on on Buying a Game Package and you have no idea what game loop you want to play and if you have the money then there is only one ship i recommend. for a 125$ pound for $ the cutty black is the most versatile soloable ship in the game. it is the smallest ship you can fit a Roc into. it is a med freight starter cargo. it has weapons enough for starter bounty. it has room enough for starter muti crew if you are coming in with friends. isy this because i have larger ships "Corsair" and smaller ships "C8R" but i always find myself back in my Cutty Black. testing differant loops.
I can save you a ton of questioning. Pick an Avenger Titan(or 300 series if you feel bougie). Spend the rest of your money on sticks and a tobii eye tracker/ trackir setup. Enjoy the game. Make friends with people who already got lots of ships. Hop on,join their crew split the profits. Buy ships you want in game. Beyond that everything else is optional. The Avenger package can be had for the price of a new game. Cant afford it? Wanna start on a budget? Get a C8 and be a courier,or an Aurora/Mustang if you want a little bit bigger without spending much. Practice in Freefly. Practice in verse. Go to a quiet spot on a planet and just practice things like landing and takeoff. A pilot whos good in the ship of their choice is far better than a bad pilot in a 'meta' ship. Or to put it simply. I dont fear the pilot in the F8 with two hours of flight time. I fear the guy in the Aurora with thousands of hours in that Auora.
@Macka2332 I just get tired of seeing people asking for the meta ships like they think it'll make them a godly pilot. I bullied a pre nerf Ion to death in my LN. I watched an Alpha do it again. I killed an M50 in my Terrapin. Pilots don't make ships good. Pilots do. Shoot I've even seen Nomads put some hurt out in good pilots hands. Build up your ship. Fly it lots. Learn the systems and mechanics. Enjoy the game and make friends. Because remember: you're always stronger together than apart. If a pirate crew sees you got backup they might not attack. Also if you aren't going to pvp, learn how to escape from pvp. Learn how to fight just long enough to get a window to escape. Then dip. Don't be afraid to run from fights you can't win.
@Macka2332 between not getting notifications and the comments breaking often these days on YT mobile, yeah. Probably because I'm often in/out of wifi as I work.
I started with an Aurora LN (Aurora starter pack and $5 upgrade to LN) and played with that for nearly a year before upgrading to a Titan. I had a great time flying it and still have fond memories of doing so.
The Avenger Titan was on sale today with a sniper rifle and 20k in game credits whatever they're called. I went ahead and used your referal code and I'll start installing after my new GPU gets here in a few hours!
I would recommend keeping it light when you first get into the game and get the small and simple $40,000 package. Its literally the most buck for ur bang and most of all it gets u in the game to check it out and see if its for you going forward. If "no" then ur not out much.
Couple other things I'd add. You don't have to pay any money to try the game. If you aren't sure. You can try the game out during freefly events usually around major sales and updates. No money spent at all play for free for a week during those weeks as often as you want trying the current state before spending any money what-so-ever. Its not a PvP game its a Pv/+E game wtih PvP as a possibility. The devs have stated to one degree or another that roughly 9 out of 10 interactions will be with AI fully realized. There will be spaces where PvP is more common such as the Pyro system coming in 4.0 that will have very little in the way of PvP counter measures by AI compared to Medium security systems like Stanton and high security systems like Terra. In Stanton fully realized PvP will be possible but harder for the PvPer to get away with. In Terra (not in the game yet) fully realized the PvPer is unlikely to get away with anything they have taken from you due to the countermeasures the AI will take to deal with it. Even in Terra there will be PvP but it will be significantly more costly to participate in it. PvP WILL be a part of the game always. It will not always be as easy as it is now for the PvP player base outside of systems like Pyro as we move further in the games development. SC strives to be a place for all kinds of gamers eventually. "I heard its a scam." Its not. Even in its current state there is more content and things to do than any other space/sim game of its kind. Its not a finshed product with more to come down the line as always. If you don't like where its at now come back a few updates from now and try again. "Its pay to win." Its not. You'll eventually be able to get any and every ship in the game with in-game currency that you get to keep on your account and use at your leisure. You'll eventually have hirable AI crew and AI blades to run turrets and other things on the ships. It'll just come down to how much in-game money you have. Buying any ship besides the cheapest option to play the game will get you to those big ships eventually. If you buy a capital ship and can crew it vs the odd PvPer or Troll with their little starter ship. You'll beat them without effort full stop as any capital class ship vs a single little fighter outside of Star Wars would do.
Good video. Liked & subscribed. As a long time SC backer & player, I recommend that people interested in the game, create a free account using a referral code, then wait until a Free Fly Event to test out how the game is on their hardware, while warning them of the game still being in development and it's usually more buggy during FFEs due to the increased server demands. If they try it & love it, to then wait for either a sale of a new starter ship or until the sale events in late May or late Nov to get the best deals on getting into the game.
There are a few things that I wish I'd have known before buying my current fleet, especially as I have since fallen out with the group of friends that I was going to play the game with. Mainly that ships were going to (eventually) be available for purchase in game, and that NPC hiring isn't planned for a long time. I've got a few useful ships, but my Reclaimer mostly sits in the hangar being a conversational piece.
Very informative. The strat section absolutely confused the holy-shit out of me. Only thing I learned was lifetime insurance is good. I'll keep an eye out for that...
Did you know CIG allows you ONE time to return LTI referral ship upgrades. You just submit a ticket explaining you didn't know or however you explain the situation they will revert all of them back to the base ship and they refund the rest as store credit.
Wish I was just coming to game today. Would be happy with aurora or titan and get everything else in game. I have been here since 2016 and have $400 of ships. Not terrible spending $50 a year for a game. Would cost more for me to buy the expansion packs each year to be able to play the newest drop of CoD or other games. But I do not fly most of my ships. Corsair is my goto for just about everything I am doing since it can carry small vehicles and some small cargo and has the firepower to take down PvE bounties with ease. I am waiting till they come out with another Heavy Fighter w/ interior option to replace my Inferno. I dislike just about everything about the vanguard series so not an option. It appears that Mirai may be bringing one out soon. All my owned ships are small or small crew. I do not want anything larger than a Corsair which can be easily solo'd.
I have been having issues with my chat hud staying up. Tried multiple work arounds to no avail. If I could get it to work properly, I would look into multiplay game play and orgs.
I want to join an Org but have had nothing but bad experience with elitism and overall bs so I've been apprehensive to say the least. Maybe I'll check yours out but I do have a question; are there other citizens there that are more my speed? lol I'm retired Military and haven been involved with SC in some shaper or form since it's inception but I rarely find citizens that are like minded i.e. whom play the way I usually do which is more slow and methodical only ramping up when needed. I come from games like the Division so I'm mostly running everything at a high pace, SC is my chill time. lol Alita. o7

Best ship for a starter is the Constellation Andromida
Wrong, taurus = best connie
spend the minimum amount of money, it's one game for less than the price of a AAA game. if you don't like it before 30 days just get your money back.

Only buy one starter ship. Buying multiple ships robs you of valuable gameplay
You also have a grace period of 30 days to get a refund regardless of play hours
