X-cutioner was one of my favorite figures when I was a kid. I'm glad Hasbro is finally making him in Marvel Legends. Gotta have that figure. The Characters name was Carl Denti he was a FBI Agent that got his weapons from a confiscated cache of Alien Weaponry and decided to use the weapons to punish Mutants who had not been legally convicted of their crimes and called himself the X-cutioner.
Cyclops is the highlight for me. Exactly what I wanted, and the new headsculpt fixes his weird hair from before and hopefully the problem with the visor too. Madelyne looks good! Really dig the headsculpt. I think that power effect is the exact same one Chasm had, which is a nice meta thing. Nightcrawler looks nice, though I wish we got style pose hands. The shading is fine for me because he has it a lot in the comics. Jean is... fine, the heads are okay, if a bit boring, and the shade of orange on her costume is nice. But why does she have no upper torso movement?
Damn I love X-Men the most...This Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Jean Grey are upgrades to previous releases and it's killing me lol may need to pick them up. Probably Goblin Queen too. At the same time I wonder how soon they'll show up discounted with some patience. I liked the first wave, and this 2nd wave shows they're going strong. Sabretooth, Cable, Mystique gotta be coming soon too

Dude, from the distance of the thumbnail, I thought the Executioner was Spawn! I know that would make no sense, but that was literally what came to mind at first. lol
X-Cutioner is definitely the biggest stand out surprise, just a tad ahead of Madeline Pryor who is also quite surprising, just obviously isn’t the Maddy that most collectors want ;) but both of those figures has a good amount of accessories! This wave feels spoilery since now we have a clue that we are possibly going to get an adaptation of Inferno and of X-Cutioner’s Song in the first season of X-men ‘97 when it releases. The Magneto in his New Mutants garb is definitely a surprise, but since we’ve been told that Mags is going to become leader of the X-men in Charles’s absence, the use of this outfit would reflect that period in the comics when Magnet was in charge of the New Mutants.. So happy about Nightcrawler!! It’s been such a long time since his last release, but it was a surprise bc Nightcrawler wasn’t a recurring character on the original run. More a guest character. I hope the tail has a possible wire.. The Cyclops is going to make a LOT of people happy!! It’s the uniform that most want and it comes with the optic blast effect!! Jean Grey doesn’t look hideous and her outfit looks correct. Also the 2 different hair styles is awesome!!

Why do I like these so much? On paper, I should be turning my nose up, but I can’t help myself. I agree that we’re getting more bang for the buck here than we did with the first wave, and having two new to Marvel Legends characters and a new to Marvel Legends version of Magneto really spices things up.
😍 I'm definitely hearting that new Jean Grey face sculpt. The poseable ponytail is definitely this figure displayer's dream come true. That optic blast effect and second head sculpt is something that we should've got with Cyclops in the Warlock BAF Wave, then I would've been happy with that Cyclops and saved some cash. And Goblin Queen looks good for a character that I only know by name and some images. 👍

I'll definitely get the Nightcrawler figure for my Excalibur display, but I am tempted by Cyclops. - I'm not a great X-Family Fan (except for Excalibur and New Mutants), so the others don't really do anything for me... But the Cyclops is cool!
lol, people who complain about Goblin Queen is because they want her in the skimpy costume. Magneto is a meh, but that’s the only way to get his unmask helmet. The Marvel Legend team needs to adopt some tricks from the G.I. Joe team, like adopting the hair swap gimmick. But Hasbro give too much freedom to each team and one team does better than the other.
Awesome video Dave. I like the wave. I am all in on the Goblin Queen. In my opinion, Apocalypse and Madeleine are the prize of the line so far of the animation line . I hope they give us Cable, G.W. Brigade, Silver Fox, Grizzly, and Adam X.

Lots of interesting articulation choices with this one. There's quite a bit of butterfly joint action and a perfect example of how to and NOT to use a single ball joint in a torso. Pretty good looking wave all around. Jean Grey looks awful, I'm sorry, I'm so sick of this outfit, tired of seeing it, it's easily her worst look and has the most figures made of it and why did they give her a single joint in the torso like that? Dud of the wave. Nightcrawler is an immediate pick up, looks great, no complaints. Goblin Queen looks amazing, this is a good compromise to get this character out instead of that lazy attempt through the Haslab but is that a mid thigh cut I see? Picking her up also. They did the best they could with this outfit for Magneto, there's only so much you can do with a simple and utterly goofy design like this one, at least the gloves are raised and he's pinless. I have never heard of this character but he looks like the king of this wave, new sculpt, accessories, cool design, if X-Cutioner peg warms I'll be shocked. This is the best Cyclops so far and damnit now I wish I didn't get the VHS one, skipping on this guy but damn he's perfect.

I was excited when I saw the pictures of the first wave but then I realised I didn't need any of them, But this wave I gotta have that nightcrawler and goblin queen (I'm a little concerned about her skin colour, it looks a strange purple pink colour). scott and jean are maybes for me, but I have the mafex jean and she has really grown on me, I missed out on the mafex cyclops but I'm hoping he gets a reissue. If the other two get marked down at some point maybe.
If you check out this video by Yellow Flash entitled "Kathleen Kennedy's Star Wars just TANKED Hasbro! Toy maker fires 20% of their workforce!" it shows a discount toy store and it might be of interest, also if you can find anything like that in Japan somewhere with all kinds of extremely discounted things like he shows in the video, some store I've never heard of that might be in the United States or something. Some store clearly bought too much stock of things no one was interested in buying in stores.
I'm a little bit on the fence with these reveals. On one hand I want to keep my collection for the most part MCU based but that Cyclops is really really nice! I may have to grab that one at some point 🙃 great video by the way!

Going through the wave: Cyclops is not quite perfect because of the goofy expression and bright red hair, but he's the best Jim Lee Cyclops Marvel Legends has made so far. Jean has some odd design choices, especially in the legs, but the figure represents her look in the new show I suppose. Magneto is the dud of the wave. I don't care if that's how he looks in the show; the design of his costume is terrible. Nightcrawler is a fantastic update. Madeline Pryor looks great. X-cutioner is objectively the best figure in the wave with the most value in sculpt and accessories, but I still won't buy him because I have no attachment to him.
ever since cyclops popped up on my Amazon I've been waiting for it to drop in price, now seeing this cyclops I can now unheart it, although from the pics his heads look oversized to me.
I’ll take Cyclops. I removed the cell shading from the vhs one, but some of the acetone ended up on his crotch, which made it very shiny and the acetone on his torso made the plastic crack. All I have to do is swap the bodies. All the other figures are easy passes.
Madelyne Pryor is a clone of Jean Grey, and Cable is her son by Cyclops. Madelyne's sad story starts years before her introduction in the comics. Jean Grey was originally intended to survive the Dark Phoenix Saga, Claremont and Byrne had plotted out stories after Dark Phoenix starring a de-powered Jean Grey who was effectively neutered by the Shi'ar Empire after the X-Men lose their battle with the Imperial Guard. She and Scott go on to marry and have a daughter, Rachel, and leave the X-Men. However, the editor-in-chief at Marvel decided that Jean Grey must die after wiping out billions of lives as Dark Phoenix when she consumed a sun, destroying an inhabited solar system. So, rather than Jean having her power stripped away by the Shi'ar, she commits suicide on the moon. Cyclops leaves the team in the next issue, with Angel briefly rejoining the X-Men, Storm becoming the leader and Kitty Pryde joining as a trainee. Claremont is still unhappy with a single depressed Cyclops, who is haunted by Jean's suicide. He attempts to make things a bit better for Cyclops by finally having Cyclops discover that Corsair is his father, a fact Jean and Storm had hidden from him by request from Corsair. He briefly dates a human woman named Lee Forrester, though their relationship does not last long. He rejoins the X-Men, no longer the leader, yet still falling into a leadership role at Storm's expense. Claremont needs Cyclops to grow up and leave the team. But he wants him to get the happy ending he was denied with the death of Jean Grey. He would attempt to resolve this with the introduction of Madelyne Pryor in issue #168 of Uncanny X-Men from April of 1983. Madelyne is a pilot that looks remarkably like Jean Grey who works for Cyclops's grandparents in Alaska. He meets her at the end of that issue in a manner similar to the iconic introduction of MJ in Amazing Spider-Man some 20 yrs earlier. Scott and Madelyne have a relatively short courtship, they marry in issue #175 in November of 1983. Before that happens, Scott, prompted unknowingly by Mastermind, becomes increasingly convinced that Madelyne is the reincarnation of Jean Grey. There are little coincidences, at first, like that Madelyne survived a deadly plane crash the same day Jean died. Lilandra and Storm freak out when they meet her, beliveing her to be Jean Grey before discovering that she is not. Cyclops even fucking asks her if she is Phoenix and/or Jean Grey reincarnated shortly after proposing to her. She sucker punches him in the jaw, knocking him on his ass. The scheme that Mastermind has going is revealed, Scott and Maddie reconcile and marry as planned. Scott leaves the X-Men. Now, at this point, Marvel had not planned to resurrect Jean Grey. She was still very much intended to stay dead and Madelyne Pryor was meant to be her own character and the love of Scott's life. Jean was, at this point, meant to be a tragic figure who got a power she couldn't control and died to stop the power from consuming her. She and Scott's love story was to have a final end with her death. Claremont intended for all of the X-Men to eventually grow and leave the team, acting in a reserve or mentoring capacity to new characters. There was, however, a problem with this. Over the course of Claremont's run on X-Men, the book became Marvel's best seller. It spawned an incredibly successful spin off in the New Mutants and Marvel editorial was looking to add to that success with a second spin off... In the comics, however, all of this was a ways away. Madelyne became pregnant with a son they would name Christopher Charles Summers, later to become Cable. Scott is drawn away from her during Secret Wars, and winds up fighting to protect the newly reformed Magneto with the X-Men, by that point Storm had lost her powers. This culminated in issue #200, wherein Charles Xavier nearly dies and is taken away by the Shi'ar to be saved. Magneto becomes headmaster of the school and Madelyne gives birth to she and Scott's son alone in Westchester, New York while Scott and the X-Men are in Paris, France. Cyclops, believing that Magneto is lying about Xavier wants to return to the X-Men full time. He and Maddie argue about this, Storm overhears this and she and Cyclops agree to a duel for leadership of the X-Men, which he loses. He returns to Alaska with Maddie to raise their son in retirement. Marvel editorial would decide that the second on going spin off of X-Men, X-Factor, would feature the return of the surviving original five X-Men, the plan was, at first, for the fifth member to be Dazzler before it was decided they would resurrect Jean Grey. Claremont was furious. Jean returning would undo four years of stories and place Cyclops's marriage to Madelyne Pryor in jeopardy. Keep in mind, at this point, Madelyne was not yet intended to be a clone of Jean Grey. Claremont pitched the idea that Sarah Grey, Jean's sister, would discover she was a mutant like Jean, and then join X-Factor, thus leaving Maddie and Scott's marriage intact. Marvel said no. Jean came back, Scott left his wife and child to return to a life of superheroics with his old buddies and his newly not dead old girlfriend. This is where the retcon begins. In X-Men, after Mutant Massacre, a young redheaded woman surfaces in San Francisco, nearly dead, clearly having been attacked. She is listed as a Jane Doe when she arrives at the hospital. It is Maddie. Her son has been taken and there is no record of them ever having existed. She is running from the Marauders who are acting under orders from Mr. Sinister to kill her. She reunites with the X-Men and seemingly dies in Dallas with the X-Men during Fall of the Mutants. She tells Scott via news broadcast to find their missing son. She goes into seclusion with the X-Men, the world thinking them dead, in Australia, operating out of the Reavers' old base. Maddie becoming their tech wiz. Maddie sees a broadcast of Cyclops with Jean as part of X-Factor and has a breakdown where she makes a deal with Limbo demons to be given power. The events of Inferno follow, which reveal that Madelyne Pryor had been a clone of Jean Grey created by Mr. Sinister and endowed with Jean's personality and love of Scott by the Phoenix Force. She was intended to be a broodmare for Sinister's plans to breed a perfect mutant, Cable, who he wants for then unknown reasons. Jean gets all of the Phoenix and Maddie's memories and Madelyne, now the bitter Goblin Queen, dies after renaming Cable Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, Nathan for Nathaniel Essex, Mr. Sinister and, techinically, his matrilinial grandfather. This is meant to close the Madelyne Pryor storyline for good and allow Cyclops and Jean to fully resume their romantic relationship without the inherent infidelity involved in Cyclops being with Jean while his wife pretends to be dead. Chris Claremont, Madelyne's creator, and one of the primary authors of her tragic demise at the end of Inferno in 1989, is still bitter about Madelyne's fate to this day. He had wanted Jean to stay dead and Scott to stay married to Madelyne Pryor and for them to raise their son together. He had never wanted Madelyne Pryor to be a clone of Jean Grey, but was forced into that position by editorial mandates. Aside from editor Bob Harris siding with Jim Lee over Claremont on the direction of the X-Men line in the early '90s, which led to his resignation, the fiasco which resulted in what he saw as the character assassination of Scott Summers is his biggest gripe with editorial during his first tenure at Marvel. He has often expressed frustration with the treatment of Madelyne Pryor after the return of Jean Grey.
The ML team needs to talk to the GI Joe team to copy their method of having swappable hair pieces, then they could have had two distinct faces and let you choose which hair piece goes on which face.
I might get nightcrawler even though i recently paid $85 for the old one from a scalper, the vhs cyclops is a lot better than this new shiny one and I’m good on the rest and might just get the jean grey mafex.

These animated figures are a conundrum. I only collect comic based figures, and I can’t decide whether these integrate well or not. Definitely getting Nightcrawler, but the faces on other characters like Jean Rogue and Gambit almost feel too cartoony. Also, I was so excited for that Cyclops but that smiley friendly facial expression isn’t doing it for me. I much prefer the VHS head sculpt. Hmmmm
No offense intended, but today in the video you're looking like your arch-nemesis/bane to your existence/wrestling career Vince McMahon somewhat lol, and I think sometimes people dislike people who might sort of be like them in some ways or evil alter egos or something, twisted aspects of one's own interests and personality traits gone wrong! People also probably dislike being told they woke up on the wrong side of the bed and are looking like someone they think is pretty bad! That fits in well with how Madelyne Pryor and Jean Grey are both in this series and are meant to look identical, but I don't know, maybe that stuff on the side of Jean Grey's face that holds her face together is making them look significantly different. I'm glad they do look different though, since I don't like clones generally in just about any story. I also saw they are releasing or announcing some kind of Jango Fett figure (Vintage Collection), like argh, I guess someone likes that stuff still or wants that? With all the weird and unexpected decisions and releases from Marvel Legends and even Hasbro in general, I really don't know what will be next (except based on the leaks you sometimes share), because Madelyne Pryor is significantly on a cover with N'astirh and I'm constantly looking for N'astirh for so many reasons, for his dealings with Jason Macendale's Hobgoblin (formerly Jack O'Lantern), Cameron Hodge, and even this story which makes sense of this baby accessory, and a lot more related with both the Spider-Man releases and the X-Men releases now! I so hope they make N'astirh and the various demons, and also since they have released the Goblin Queen that they make Mephisto also, and to Marvel's Limbo with their stubbornness about their failed stuff, so often they do supposed "exclusive" releases like that Star Wars The Force Unleashed Starkiller set and then go ahead and also make available some version of the character for the rest of us, so I hope they make a Mephisto, but also a totally not expected but perfectly suited for all these releases N'astirh and S'ym while they are at it and even a monstrous Cameron Hodge! If people can repeatedly bring up those characters (if they want them), it might just happen! I'm also always looking for a good head sculpt to use for Jason Macendale for an unmasked Jack O'Lantern and unmasked Hobgoblin (because I prefer him to represent all forms of Hobgoblin, I don't like like the various other versions and prefer the idea that a ruthless mercenary Jason Macendale discovered the stash of stuff and took on the Hobgoblin identity, even if that means Jack O'Lantern at the time had to be someone else or a robot or something, like they've done with Hobgoblin even). That would be so cool if we can re-create all the crazy stuff in Inferno, the demons and monsters flying around (seemingly inspired by Ghostbusters?) and the appearance of Ghost Rider teaming up with Spider-Man and even Venom and a new Demo-Goblin and all that fun stuff. I don't expect it, but maybe they could even make Belasco! I recently got a custom Trigon Superman that uses the big demon McFarlane figure from the Black Adam film and will function as the big demon for a while, unless they make some awesome Mephisto figure, Belasco figure, a new Dormammu even. I wonder if they will go really obscure and make characters like Kulan Gath: "He was later fully integrated into the Marvel Universe, and he became popular for his appearances in X-Men." Those figures would be so versatile for me and all my various themed sets, working with Mythical and Barbarian type sets and demon monster stuff, sci-fi stuff. It really makes me hopeful, especially if people can bring up these things so that they might actually do it (and if people end up looking it up and getting into it). I'd love if they could make new Marvel Legends Conan the Barbarian, Red Sonja, and all kinds of villains from the Marvel Conan and Sword and Sorcery stories to go with upcoming releases like Power Girl and Namor who fit well into mythical looking sets. There are great designs and characters that could work which Marvel Legends had released while they were being made by ToyBiz, such as Devourer Of Souls (Wraarl), and others that Marvel may have the license for and could get Hasbro to make as updates and never before released fantasy and sword and sorcery figures under the Marvel Legends line that could go with and also compete against all the Barbarian figure releases coming out from a number of different toy lines scheduled for next year, since so many are coming up with fantasy type figures that could all work together potentially. I really hope they make people collecting for "Inferno" possible at least and then related characters all available to put in scenes that make sense and aren't missing anyone, like they even have a pretty useful Wonder Man that they released that fits into the Inferno event as well, it does seem like they may be drawing a lot of their designs right now from around that period, so that could be good news for anyone who was looking for a lot more from around that time, as it spanned a lot of different Marvel series.

Jesus Christ Hasbro's making figures for "adult" collectors but nerfs the SEXIEST character into a black pantsuit. That's not the Goblin Queen, it's just Madelyn Pryor in clothes. Make the Mark Silvestri Goblin Queen or don't f*cking bother to make her at all.

Jean looks good but I'm not a fan of the torso just having a ball jointed waist it was pretty crap on the krakoan/tri-sentinel wave it's a shame that they couldn't have given Kurt the inverted ab crunch treatment but at least he's got pinless arms and legs(although a calf swivel would have been nice. I got the bus Cyclops for 19.99 so not overly fussed about that. But Madeline looks great as does the Executioner. But I will probably end up only getting Jean and Madeline. I'm wondering if I can swap jeans legs arms and heads to the previous Jean although animated One now comes with moving shoulder pad things🤔

That X-Cutioner gives me Fortnite figure vibes. Prob accurate to comics, but it wasn't a storyline I was familiar with. I was out of it by '91.

I'll definitely get the Nightcrawler figure for my Excalibur display, but I am tempted by Cyclops. - I'm not a great X-Family Fan (except for Excalibur and New Mutants), so the others don't really do anything for me... But the Cyclops is cool!

lol, people who complain about Goblin Queen is because they want her in the skimpy costume. Magneto is a meh, but that’s the only way to get his unmask helmet. The Marvel Legend team needs to adopt some tricks from the G.I. Joe team, like adopting the hair swap gimmick. But Hasbro give too much freedom to each team and one team does better than the other.
Customizers will have some fun with that PG version of Goblin Queen. Jean as no upper torso swivel. Odd decision.
Awesome video Dave. I like the wave. I am all in on the Goblin Queen. In my opinion, Apocalypse and Madeleine are the prize of the line so far of the animation line . I hope they give us Cable, G.W. Brigade, Silver Fox, Grizzly, and Adam X.

Lots of interesting articulation choices with this one. There's quite a bit of butterfly joint action and a perfect example of how to and NOT to use a single ball joint in a torso. Pretty good looking wave all around.
Jean Grey looks awful, I'm sorry, I'm so sick of this outfit, tired of seeing it, it's easily her worst look and has the most figures made of it and why did they give her a single joint in the torso like that? Dud of the wave.
Nightcrawler is an immediate pick up, looks great, no complaints.
Goblin Queen looks amazing, this is a good compromise to get this character out instead of that lazy attempt through the Haslab but is that a mid thigh cut I see? Picking her up also.
They did the best they could with this outfit for Magneto, there's only so much you can do with a simple and utterly goofy design like this one, at least the gloves are raised and he's pinless.
I have never heard of this character but he looks like the king of this wave, new sculpt, accessories, cool design, if X-Cutioner peg warms I'll be shocked.
This is the best Cyclops so far and damnit now I wish I didn't get the VHS one, skipping on this guy but damn he's perfect.

I was excited when I saw the pictures of the first wave but then I realised I didn't need any of them, But this wave I gotta have that nightcrawler and goblin queen (I'm a little concerned about her skin colour, it looks a strange purple pink colour). scott and jean are maybes for me, but I have the mafex jean and she has really grown on me, I missed out on the mafex cyclops but I'm hoping he gets a reissue. If the other two get marked down at some point maybe.

If you check out this video by Yellow Flash entitled "Kathleen Kennedy's Star Wars just TANKED Hasbro! Toy maker fires 20% of their workforce!" it shows a discount toy store and it might be of interest, also if you can find anything like that in Japan somewhere with all kinds of extremely discounted things like he shows in the video, some store I've never heard of that might be in the United States or something. Some store clearly bought too much stock of things no one was interested in buying in stores.
I'm a little bit on the fence with these reveals. On one hand I want to keep my collection for the most part MCU based but that Cyclops is really really nice! I may have to grab that one at some point 🙃 great video by the way!

Going through the wave: Cyclops is not quite perfect because of the goofy expression and bright red hair, but he's the best Jim Lee Cyclops Marvel Legends has made so far. Jean has some odd design choices, especially in the legs, but the figure represents her look in the new show I suppose. Magneto is the dud of the wave. I don't care if that's how he looks in the show; the design of his costume is terrible. Nightcrawler is a fantastic update. Madeline Pryor looks great. X-cutioner is objectively the best figure in the wave with the most value in sculpt and accessories, but I still won't buy him because I have no attachment to him.
ever since cyclops popped up on my Amazon I've been waiting for it to drop in price, now seeing this cyclops I can now unheart it, although from the pics his heads look oversized to me.

I’ll take Cyclops. I removed the cell shading from the vhs one, but some of the acetone ended up on his crotch, which made it very shiny and the acetone on his torso made the plastic crack. All I have to do is swap the bodies. All the other figures are easy passes.

Madelyne Pryor is a clone of Jean Grey, and Cable is her son by Cyclops.
Madelyne's sad story starts years before her introduction in the comics. Jean Grey was originally intended to survive the Dark Phoenix Saga, Claremont and Byrne had plotted out stories after Dark Phoenix starring a de-powered Jean Grey who was effectively neutered by the Shi'ar Empire after the X-Men lose their battle with the Imperial Guard. She and Scott go on to marry and have a daughter, Rachel, and leave the X-Men. However, the editor-in-chief at Marvel decided that Jean Grey must die after wiping out billions of lives as Dark Phoenix when she consumed a sun, destroying an inhabited solar system. So, rather than Jean having her power stripped away by the Shi'ar, she commits suicide on the moon. Cyclops leaves the team in the next issue, with Angel briefly rejoining the X-Men, Storm becoming the leader and Kitty Pryde joining as a trainee. Claremont is still unhappy with a single depressed Cyclops, who is haunted by Jean's suicide. He attempts to make things a bit better for Cyclops by finally having Cyclops discover that Corsair is his father, a fact Jean and Storm had hidden from him by request from Corsair. He briefly dates a human woman named Lee Forrester, though their relationship does not last long. He rejoins the X-Men, no longer the leader, yet still falling into a leadership role at Storm's expense. Claremont needs Cyclops to grow up and leave the team. But he wants him to get the happy ending he was denied with the death of Jean Grey. He would attempt to resolve this with the introduction of Madelyne Pryor in issue #168 of Uncanny X-Men from April of 1983. Madelyne is a pilot that looks remarkably like Jean Grey who works for Cyclops's grandparents in Alaska. He meets her at the end of that issue in a manner similar to the iconic introduction of MJ in Amazing Spider-Man some 20 yrs earlier.
Scott and Madelyne have a relatively short courtship, they marry in issue #175 in November of 1983. Before that happens, Scott, prompted unknowingly by Mastermind, becomes increasingly convinced that Madelyne is the reincarnation of Jean Grey. There are little coincidences, at first, like that Madelyne survived a deadly plane crash the same day Jean died. Lilandra and Storm freak out when they meet her, beliveing her to be Jean Grey before discovering that she is not. Cyclops even fucking asks her if she is Phoenix and/or Jean Grey reincarnated shortly after proposing to her. She sucker punches him in the jaw, knocking him on his ass. The scheme that Mastermind has going is revealed, Scott and Maddie reconcile and marry as planned. Scott leaves the X-Men.
Now, at this point, Marvel had not planned to resurrect Jean Grey. She was still very much intended to stay dead and Madelyne Pryor was meant to be her own character and the love of Scott's life. Jean was, at this point, meant to be a tragic figure who got a power she couldn't control and died to stop the power from consuming her. She and Scott's love story was to have a final end with her death. Claremont intended for all of the X-Men to eventually grow and leave the team, acting in a reserve or mentoring capacity to new characters. There was, however, a problem with this. Over the course of Claremont's run on X-Men, the book became Marvel's best seller. It spawned an incredibly successful spin off in the New Mutants and Marvel editorial was looking to add to that success with a second spin off...
In the comics, however, all of this was a ways away. Madelyne became pregnant with a son they would name Christopher Charles Summers, later to become Cable. Scott is drawn away from her during Secret Wars, and winds up fighting to protect the newly reformed Magneto with the X-Men, by that point Storm had lost her powers. This culminated in issue #200, wherein Charles Xavier nearly dies and is taken away by the Shi'ar to be saved. Magneto becomes headmaster of the school and Madelyne gives birth to she and Scott's son alone in Westchester, New York while Scott and the X-Men are in Paris, France. Cyclops, believing that Magneto is lying about Xavier wants to return to the X-Men full time. He and Maddie argue about this, Storm overhears this and she and Cyclops agree to a duel for leadership of the X-Men, which he loses. He returns to Alaska with Maddie to raise their son in retirement.
Marvel editorial would decide that the second on going spin off of X-Men, X-Factor, would feature the return of the surviving original five X-Men, the plan was, at first, for the fifth member to be Dazzler before it was decided they would resurrect Jean Grey. Claremont was furious. Jean returning would undo four years of stories and place Cyclops's marriage to Madelyne Pryor in jeopardy. Keep in mind, at this point, Madelyne was not yet intended to be a clone of Jean Grey. Claremont pitched the idea that Sarah Grey, Jean's sister, would discover she was a mutant like Jean, and then join X-Factor, thus leaving Maddie and Scott's marriage intact. Marvel said no. Jean came back, Scott left his wife and child to return to a life of superheroics with his old buddies and his newly not dead old girlfriend. This is where the retcon begins.
In X-Men, after Mutant Massacre, a young redheaded woman surfaces in San Francisco, nearly dead, clearly having been attacked. She is listed as a Jane Doe when she arrives at the hospital. It is Maddie. Her son has been taken and there is no record of them ever having existed. She is running from the Marauders who are acting under orders from Mr. Sinister to kill her. She reunites with the X-Men and seemingly dies in Dallas with the X-Men during Fall of the Mutants. She tells Scott via news broadcast to find their missing son. She goes into seclusion with the X-Men, the world thinking them dead, in Australia, operating out of the Reavers' old base. Maddie becoming their tech wiz. Maddie sees a broadcast of Cyclops with Jean as part of X-Factor and has a breakdown where she makes a deal with Limbo demons to be given power. The events of Inferno follow, which reveal that Madelyne Pryor had been a clone of Jean Grey created by Mr. Sinister and endowed with Jean's personality and love of Scott by the Phoenix Force. She was intended to be a broodmare for Sinister's plans to breed a perfect mutant, Cable, who he wants for then unknown reasons. Jean gets all of the Phoenix and Maddie's memories and Madelyne, now the bitter Goblin Queen, dies after renaming Cable Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, Nathan for Nathaniel Essex, Mr. Sinister and, techinically, his matrilinial grandfather. This is meant to close the Madelyne Pryor storyline for good and allow Cyclops and Jean to fully resume their romantic relationship without the inherent infidelity involved in Cyclops being with Jean while his wife pretends to be dead.
Chris Claremont, Madelyne's creator, and one of the primary authors of her tragic demise at the end of Inferno in 1989, is still bitter about Madelyne's fate to this day. He had wanted Jean to stay dead and Scott to stay married to Madelyne Pryor and for them to raise their son together. He had never wanted Madelyne Pryor to be a clone of Jean Grey, but was forced into that position by editorial mandates. Aside from editor Bob Harris siding with Jim Lee over Claremont on the direction of the X-Men line in the early '90s, which led to his resignation, the fiasco which resulted in what he saw as the character assassination of Scott Summers is his biggest gripe with editorial during his first tenure at Marvel. He has often expressed frustration with the treatment of Madelyne Pryor after the return of Jean Grey.

These animated figures are a conundrum. I only collect comic based figures, and I can’t decide whether these integrate well or not. Definitely getting Nightcrawler, but the faces on other characters like Jean Rogue and Gambit almost feel too cartoony. Also, I was so excited for that Cyclops but that smiley friendly facial expression isn’t doing it for me. I much prefer the VHS head sculpt. Hmmmm

I feel like the main problem is the hair. I’m sure you could swap that out and it would look very similar to the first one (just with a newer body)

No offense intended, but today in the video you're looking like your arch-nemesis/bane to your existence/wrestling career Vince McMahon somewhat lol, and I think sometimes people dislike people who might sort of be like them in some ways or evil alter egos or something, twisted aspects of one's own interests and personality traits gone wrong! People also probably dislike being told they woke up on the wrong side of the bed and are looking like someone they think is pretty bad!
That fits in well with how Madelyne Pryor and Jean Grey are both in this series and are meant to look identical, but I don't know, maybe that stuff on the side of Jean Grey's face that holds her face together is making them look significantly different. I'm glad they do look different though, since I don't like clones generally in just about any story. I also saw they are releasing or announcing some kind of Jango Fett figure (Vintage Collection), like argh, I guess someone likes that stuff still or wants that?
With all the weird and unexpected decisions and releases from Marvel Legends and even Hasbro in general, I really don't know what will be next (except based on the leaks you sometimes share), because Madelyne Pryor is significantly on a cover with N'astirh and I'm constantly looking for N'astirh for so many reasons, for his dealings with Jason Macendale's Hobgoblin (formerly Jack O'Lantern), Cameron Hodge, and even this story which makes sense of this baby accessory, and a lot more related with both the Spider-Man releases and the X-Men releases now!
I so hope they make N'astirh and the various demons, and also since they have released the Goblin Queen that they make Mephisto also, and to Marvel's Limbo with their stubbornness about their failed stuff, so often they do supposed "exclusive" releases like that Star Wars The Force Unleashed Starkiller set and then go ahead and also make available some version of the character for the rest of us, so I hope they make a Mephisto, but also a totally not expected but perfectly suited for all these releases N'astirh and S'ym while they are at it and even a monstrous Cameron Hodge!
If people can repeatedly bring up those characters (if they want them), it might just happen! I'm also always looking for a good head sculpt to use for Jason Macendale for an unmasked Jack O'Lantern and unmasked Hobgoblin (because I prefer him to represent all forms of Hobgoblin, I don't like like the various other versions and prefer the idea that a ruthless mercenary Jason Macendale discovered the stash of stuff and took on the Hobgoblin identity, even if that means Jack O'Lantern at the time had to be someone else or a robot or something, like they've done with Hobgoblin even).
That would be so cool if we can re-create all the crazy stuff in Inferno, the demons and monsters flying around (seemingly inspired by Ghostbusters?) and the appearance of Ghost Rider teaming up with Spider-Man and even Venom and a new Demo-Goblin and all that fun stuff.
I don't expect it, but maybe they could even make Belasco!
I recently got a custom Trigon Superman that uses the big demon McFarlane figure from the Black Adam film and will function as the big demon for a while, unless they make some awesome Mephisto figure, Belasco figure, a new Dormammu even.
I wonder if they will go really obscure and make characters like Kulan Gath:

Those figures would be so versatile for me and all my various themed sets, working with Mythical and Barbarian type sets and demon monster stuff, sci-fi stuff. It really makes me hopeful, especially if people can bring up these things so that they might actually do it (and if people end up looking it up and getting into it).
I'd love if they could make new Marvel Legends Conan the Barbarian, Red Sonja, and all kinds of villains from the Marvel Conan and Sword and Sorcery stories to go with upcoming releases like Power Girl and Namor who fit well into mythical looking sets. There are great designs and characters that could work which Marvel Legends had released while they were being made by ToyBiz, such as Devourer Of Souls (Wraarl), and others that Marvel may have the license for and could get Hasbro to make as updates and never before released fantasy and sword and sorcery figures under the Marvel Legends line that could go with and also compete against all the Barbarian figure releases coming out from a number of different toy lines scheduled for next year, since so many are coming up with fantasy type figures that could all work together potentially.
I really hope they make people collecting for "Inferno" possible at least and then related characters all available to put in scenes that make sense and aren't missing anyone, like they even have a pretty useful Wonder Man that they released that fits into the Inferno event as well, it does seem like they may be drawing a lot of their designs right now from around that period, so that could be good news for anyone who was looking for a lot more from around that time, as it spanned a lot of different Marvel series.

Jean looks good but I'm not a fan of the torso just having a ball jointed waist it was pretty crap on the krakoan/tri-sentinel wave it's a shame that they couldn't have given Kurt the inverted ab crunch treatment but at least he's got pinless arms and legs(although a calf swivel would have been nice. I got the bus Cyclops for 19.99 so not overly fussed about that. But Madeline looks great as does the Executioner. But I will probably end up only getting Jean and Madeline. I'm wondering if I can swap jeans legs arms and heads to the previous Jean although animated One now comes with moving shoulder pad things🤔
