1. European model where the city bears the cost and benefits indirectly from the rise in businesses and reduction of traffic
2. Hong Kong model where the stations serve as commercial spaces themselves for additional revenue and tickets are able to be set low for higher footfall . Delhi follows the Hong Kong model where we have several stations that are build like malls

Kochi metro is running in profits since 2022. Delhi Metro with more than 400 KM long track with almost 290 stations had its operating expenses around Rs 4700 crores with only Rs 800 crore loss or subsidy per year from the government. This includes yearly paying back of Rs 1000 crores back to Japan from where India took concessional loans. Loss per KM is only RS 2 crore Per KM per year while forever expansion is going on.

Public transport eveeywhere is subsidised. Par agar metro rail lines badhayi jaay to ridership badhegi. Baki jo public transport ke modes hai jaise bus, shared auto, ye bhi develop karne aur metro se integrate karne jaruri hai, kyunki last mile connectivity nahi hogi tab ridership nahi badhegi.

It is sad the a Chinese company has to operate the metro. Pakistani companys should come forward and form collaborations with foreign companies and build their capacity to build and operate these projects. This will build domestic capacity.

True, but only Chinese agreed to built this electric train system, no other country agreed to do. Also Chinese contract to operate is for 8 years, and 3 years have passed. Afterwards they will hand it over to Pakistan, technology transfer is usually slow. Europeans, Americans and Japanese are very strict and do not transfer their technology. Chinese at least do transfer some technology with their own conditions

It is not under Railway. It is under Mass Transit Authority, which cover electric trains and Bus Rapid Transit, Dedicated Elevated Buses, which India doesn't have yet. Pakistan was also ahead of India in introducing Motorways Network, we started our first International Standard Motorways system in 1990.
