Hey I just wanted to thank you for helping me around my house my dad past away a little bit ago. leaving me “the man of the house.” As my mom calls me to help around the house so when things started to stop working around my house she started to ask me to help. Me being 11 didn’t know how to fix these things so I simply looked it up and then I found you on TH-cam.I know this might seem a little much for you just helping me fix a.......what ever it’s called but thank you for really making it easy for me when things break.😊

I’m taking care of my sister that has cancer right now. I’m her bigger brother, but our disposal hasn’t been working for a week and we tried some stuff like CLR and whatnot but I was able to fix it myself. A piece of porcelain was stuck in the edge not letting it spin. I’m so proud of myself, I immediately called my dad and told him that I fixed my very first household problem by myself (humbly with your guidance of course) and he was proud. Thank you for this upload and thanks for making it easy and clear, quality video and audio.
The reason I said all of that is because those video is important for people that need it.
I can’t call a plumber right now. I need to be able to do shit myself and become a protector of my sister as a man now, not just as a brother.
And this felt good man. One notch under my belt…
And it felt so good I fuckin want more notches bro.
This really changed my life in a small way that in 5 years from now, after the new things I learn, this video will have been the thing that started the enormous change the next years will bring.
Just so crazy how life works man…

I heard the buzz...I saw nothing in the disposal. I unplugged and put my hand in there...nothing. Used a knife...nada. The screwdriver along the metal connector was what I wouldn't have figured out initially. After disconnecting, I took my phone's light and could see better. Lo and behold, my wife cleans the fish tanks and leaves little rocks in the disposal. I needed needle nose pliers like you to dislodge. After reassembly, I was good. Thanks for saving me some dough today!

Your video helped me discover that it was simple rust/corrosion that had stopped my reallly old disposal from turning. Spraying Lime Away & letting it sit a few minutes while I rotated with an allen key got it turning. Once it powered on, I fed ice cubes, then ran water, which loosened even more corrosion I never realized was down there. Works like new. Will use ice cubes more often to clean & keep corrosion at bay. Many thanks from this handyman housewife!

I had replaced my disposal a few years ago due to a frozen motor. This time instead of replacing it I followed this video to the letter. Sure enough I also had a small screw wedged in exactly the same spot. Works fine now and took the opportunity to clean thoroughly inside and out. Save me $100-150 in parts and I’m guessing about the same in labor. Took me about 25 minutes and cost NOTHING!!! Thank you

Thank you so much! This video is succinct, clear, and helped me so much! I had a "chain-mail" type of dish scrubber that unknown to me to had fallen into my garbage disposal. I though it was just ice because it happened after I had some guests over. Well it wasn't ice, and it started coming apart in my disposal and small bits of metal got jammed in the teeth. I thought I was going to have to call a plumber, or buy a whole new disposal, but this video taught me differently and I'm so pleased. Thank you!

No disassembly needed in my case ; felt around and also saw it.
Used a cell-phone light to see inside.
    Put latex gloves on, felt around, and found a tightly balled up 1/4" piece of tin-foil jammed;
just like that screw you found.
Used a long needle-nose plier to pull it out.
It was surprisingly hard to pull out.
    Thank you.

All I can say is wow!! I hadn't run my disposal for about a year (been helping at my parents house) so I decided to run it the other day and then run my dishwasher. All I had was the humming sound. Tried another outlet but that did not work (the dishwasher outlet was working fine). Was about to call a plumber or electrician and came across this video. Pushed reset and no luck. Found wrench to fit the motor hole and tried to turn but wouldn't move. Tried a little more and it broke loose. Plugged back in and hit reset again. Disposal runs like a top. Thank you so much for this video. Saved me at least a $75 service call. This is the first video that I have ever used where the suggestions actually worked. I am glad I did not have to get to the removal stage. Every time I mess with plumbing it always leaks when I put it back together.

Thanks for the help. Couldn't find anything wrong and then looked in the creases where you found your screw. A tip of a knife blade was broken loose and lodged. Used your tips to free it!

Yep! That did the trick. Didn't even have to disassemble it. Just spent sometime rotating the bottom with the allen wrench, and that did the trick. Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks for the step by step guide!! I was able to get my disposal to start working after taking it apart and getting a bunch of glass shards out!

ThaNK you. My obstruction was a short trumpet mouthpiece brush, caught the same way as your screw. I was able to use the allen wrench to rotate the spinner thing, and needle nose pliers to pull it out, all in one piece. It did not have to disassemble the thing. No leaks. Works OK. Thank you again !!! --AS

Thank you very much! My son broke a glass cup and swept it all in the disposal so it was not working at all. I'm the least handiest guy on this planet, but thanks to your step by step instructions I was able to get it taken off, cleaned out and cleared all the glass & back up and running. You saved me who knows how much money! A thousand thanks!

Thank you-I stuck my hand in disposal and checked around the edges and a small piece of glass was wedged (son broke glass washing dishes). Was able to stick screw driver and push it out. Saved me time without having to remove-Thanks again!

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the video. This is exactly what happened with mine. Some kinda broken plastic chunk was stuck in the grinder. I had gone through all the other steps and was sure I was gonna have to just replace before I stumbled across this video. I looked down from the top with a flashlight, used a sharp knife to poke around the edges and sure enough there was the jam. I DO need some new, longer needle nose pliers though! I felt like I was playing that old board game OPERATION for a few mins. Thanks again!

This was incredibly helpful. The ironic thing is I have your same cabinets and handles, same counter top, and found a screw in my disposal! It was an exact fit! Thanks again.

This video is great if you are needing to figure out why it is not fixing and getting it working again. I was looking in the wrong places for items trapped and this video helped me find the problem area. Thank you for this video!!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I had a scrubber that somehow got jammed underneath the disposal blades, and I could not dislodge it manually while it was still attached to the sink. I had to remove the disposal completely to properly get in there and remove it. But I fixed it- thanks to YOU!! And it was super easy! Your steps were concise, detailed, and simple to follow. Thank you so much! You’re a blessing! ❤

Thank you for this video. I just fixed my Garbage disposal with the allen wrench. I rotated it like your video said to do and something was blocking it. Now it works just fine. 👍

Thank you! Used your video 2x now. First use dislodged a dime stuck between impeller and shredded housing. Second use about an hour ago. Removed a water distribution experiment the kids “accidentally” dumped in kitchen sink. Many very tiny pebbles. Alas, disposal cleared and young teen learning opportunity.

Went to turn on the garbage disposal and got the humming sound!
Thanks to this video I was able to fix.
My culprit was a soda can tab!
Will be checking out your other videos - good stuff!

The 1/4" allen wrench from underneath solved the problem. Got it to turn and clear whatever was keeping the wheel from spinning. 5 minute fix. Thanks.

You saved my life on Thanksgiving Day! I had to wash a lot of dishes! It was so heavy and hard to lift the disposal and turn it at the same time by myself. I just put a lot of books under the disposal to make it reach the right height, then, I turned it easily. Thank you!

Another success story here! I don’t know what jammed it, but I was able to clear it with the 1/4” hex wrench, whatever was stuck seems to have flushed out. Thanks!!

Wanted to say thank you! I know its a one year old video but you saved me a $100. My switch was reset and something was definitely clogged, had to do the key and it worked. Ran it, and a piece of a knife was inside, pulled it out and it works. Didn’t know you can manually rotate it or even has a reset button. Lol 😅
