Ahh, as of 5/30/22 this game is no longer available for sale on Steam at the request of the publisher.
That's a real shame because it looked kind of fun and I was going to at least watch for it to go on sale...

I mean, the pirate code is more of what you'd call guidelines than actual rules.
Samedi is the French word for Saturday, pronounced like "SAM-dee." Baron Samedi is a vodun loa, basically a Caribbean god

@@hombreg1 If you would like to have a more parisian accent go with sam-eh-dee. Otherwise in modern french you can forfeit the middle "e" and just say sam-dee

Sid Meiers Pirates was my favorite game for like a decade. I first played the pixelated black and white version on a Mac II or something when I was a kid. I am so happy this exists.

Sid Meier's Pirates did have a turn based combat while attacking cities on land although not many people actually get to see it as it envolves attacking a city hahaha.
Yeah, those were pretty cool and challenging. Wish there was more army building, though :)
Love Meier's pirates. Turned all of the Caribbean English, only exception is Havana.

The sounds in this game, namely the horns, I remember hearing them from a kongregate game that I forgot the name to. It's been well over 10 years since I heard those sound effects. God damn.

I like simple good games, and this is one of them.
The fucking dancing animation at the start is better than most animations in some triple AAA games. I see the dev understands our priority.

This looks like a good and fun game already. I hope it expands and gets more depths too but I'd like it to keep its goofiness so that things stay light and spontaneous.
Sid Meier's Pirates was also turn based when fighting on land, but without the dice

It was, on the "crew battle" maps. Not when you tried to infiltrate or escape the town...
That may be what Splat was thinking when he said than it was not the same.
The crew battle in the old Sid' Pirates reminded me of "Conquest of the new world" honestly, with a bit less diversity in the units types.
I'm not a fan of the combat system from this game though. I'm not sure I have enough control to rely on skills and not only luck.
I will wait a bit before deciding to take it or not.
(Nice presentation though, and the cartoon aesthetic is enjoyable)

This game has charms. I like the tactic combat, dunno yet how good that is though. I hope there is tactic combat boarding another ship. Equipping the pirates with the items and them showing. And the take is humoristic.

We pirates don't discriminate, however it an assumption of our enemies that we are stupid, which is funny because some of our crew and captains came from other countries navy, left unpaid and abandoned they joined the pirates republic for freedom.

Ye alot ea games I avoid unless I take a long hard look at. I learnt my lesson with ea games with a game called dead linger. Valheim though gave me hope that not all ea games are cash grabs.

Neat game, though one minor nitpick. When you are looting chests, the money is separate from the items and unless you press 'take all' it leaves the money in the chest. That's not how it should be. Either make the money an item or make it automatically be looted so you don't just lose out on it, it's just silly. Apart from that though, looks really neat overall. Does feel like a modern take on Pirates! which I'm very into.
Have you played HIDDEN DEEP Splatter? I would recommend reaching out to the devs, it looks good!

Did Myers pirates had turn based land battles in some spots, I loved that game but replayability was where it fell a bit short for me
A bit disappointing the have added rockets (in a pirate game) and also ship speed is not dependent of wind direction. :( Otherwise, looking really nice!

4*.05= 2 hits on average. 3*.67= 2.01 hits on average. The math is your more likely not to roll zero with the 3, but have higher damage with the 4. So the decision comes to do you care more about max damage, or min damage instead of which hits more often.

This looks like loads of fun, but I swear pirate games are allergic to character creation haha it’s just hard to get attached to procedurally generated characters for me. That’s what I love about Xcom
