this is exactly why i prefer the originals, whilst the vampire diaries could have had better actors, better relationships, which imo it didn’t anyways but even so, it was the originals focused on the bond of family that made it superior to tvd which was about a silly love triangle
Alyssa Long Yeah but it is mostly all about family, Elena was so sad when all her family died that they spent 3 episodes on Elena turning her humanity off because of how broken she was with no family, they spent a whole season on fighting with Damon’s and Stefan mum and then she died and Stefan was so sad and of course Stefan and Damon act like they hate each other but in the end, they showed their love for each other.

That entire section of letter is filmed over Damon and Elena for that reason. Damon would rather she be a vampire than die. His character isn't written to trust an elixir that's never been tested. He has a hard time trusting to begin with. And I don't think John would've trusted the elixir either. Elijah himself said it may not work. Elena didn't care. John and Damon ensured her survival.
