In fairness, @13:49, Marcus calling the first timeout worked! ND was going to get the ball back with ~45 seconds to try and score again… then the penalty. But Freeman’s second timeout on Miami’s last drive made no sense whatsoever. Also, the TD pass to Collins could have been the dam breaker, because Notre Dame was moving after half… then Leonard fumbled it, which you just CANNOT DO if running is your whole game. And I think that one play set him back mentally from whatever confidence he had gained.
@@danielmassoud4490 I hear what you’re saying man but it doesn’t seem a bit contradictory to you? Hear me out… we know this coaching staff is fully aware of Riley’s strengths and weaknesses which is why every offensive game plan is built around the run game and more specifically NOT the downfield passing game. So MF is trying to be aggressive (which I don’t necessarily hate) but considering your QB1 weaknesses now you’re gonna ask him to drive the length of the field operating a sub-1-minute offense (with maybe 1 TO). How’s that putting your guys in a position to succeed especially when you get the ball after half? That made it even worse IMO.
@@nicholaslunger considering Leonard just had the best pass of his Notre Dame career before then, I think it’s Freeman showing Leonard that he has confidence in him to lead a drive at the end of the half. It’s also likely something the team will need later in the year, so may as well work on it there.
@@danielmassoud4490 word. Respectfully I just disagree…think that’s a bit of a stretch. Operating a 4-min or maybe a 2-min offense…I could buy that. But you’re literally asking him to produce at a Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning level of offensive efficiency in that type of situation under 60 seconds.
Well, NIU stuffed Riley, of course fans are worried about the rest of the schedule. Also, ND never has a great D and O at the same time. It's just the way it rolls. I guess Riley plays in the end of the season crap bowl because he sure isn't getting drafted.
If Riley truly has the yips. Then Marcus should move on from him. There's no way of fixing that! That's a mental block in Riley. We've seen it before through Dan Crist and Bandon Wimbush, it doesn't have a happy ending.
Im at the halfway point of the video, so if you mention it in the second half, my apologies … but has anyone mentioned maybe questioning Gino Guidugli’s ability to develop the QBs?
I'm half way through the video as well so apologies. Guidugli sucks but it's been a problem for a long time. The last N.D. qb to win a game in the NFL was Brady Quinn in 2012!!
The coaching is abysmal. How exactly can the receivers show out with an inaccurate QB? Even when it gets there, nothing is in stride. He’s late and under throws - a main reason we drew those PI calls. Better teams will turn their heads and pick those.
You may wanna watch the online then! There’s a TON of blame to go around. Riley has work to do but if we’re honest….it’s easy to see when Leonard can’t step into throws because the pocket is cluttered.
I swear journalists turned, talking heads has no football creativity. I wouldn't suggest starting SA over RL. SA is not a QB number 1 dude. However, SA does bring passing value. Start the game with RL and bring in package plays for SA. I suggest package plays for Kenny Minchey and not SA. They need a two QB system this year because RL passing accuracy is horrible.
Thanks for the breakdown guys. There are several things I like about MF but as more and more of this plays out, my mind keeps running that clip when Brian Kelly made that random comment that Freeman is gonna be the head coach it’s hard not to think Freeman is the actual definition of DEI hire. What am I missing?
Not every person of color that gets hired is a DEI hire. Maybe he’s just not a good coach. Maybe he is. First time head coach in his third year. We’ll see.
ND fans have now become the very thing they used to look down their noses at. Lack of support and loyalty for players. Of course, NIL has turned college sports into a business so with that said, were the couch coaches eyes open and actually watch Angelli in garbage time? He didn't look like someone I would put the program's future in. In terms of the future, when did running the ball with success become a crime...if you can't throw your garbage? Take a leaf from Michigan's book...or even Rees playbook vs Clemson with a truly weak QB. Freeman is taking the lumps that a first-time coach needs to learn. ND signed up for this when they hired him in the first place. But, in this I want it now culture of this generation, who knows if Freeman will even be allowed to reach his potential? By the way, do any of you ever even watch the so-called expert picks on game day.....wrong all the time.
It was obvious at the time that Marcus Freeman should not have been hired. We’re dealing with the consequences of that now. ND fans are die hards but we’re not morons and we don’t cheer losers.

I remember when BK held Coan out fir a few series for Buchner to kind of coach up Coan. iirc he also did it with Golson for Rees.
Freeman never should have been hired in the first place. Unqualified. Time for him to pack his bags

Why are we talking about Saint Riley? You must believe in him

Let’s beat Louisville then go from there

YES!!!! Say it louder for the clowns in the back! I bet Michigan wouldn’t trade a W for a 300 yard passing game! Smh…..!
Is Angeli there next year if deuce knight commits to ND?
