it must be so difficult to keep your focus when the audience is continuously cheering for other people. these people get kudos from me just for that, that would make me blank out.
It’s not really difficult as a male gymnast you don’t really focus too much on it, you kinda just focus on your routine.
It's not as bad as you think once you start a routine you're hearing stops and all you're focusing on is ur routine
You would think so but you’re so busy prepping and running your routine in your head and the minute you start your brain blocks everything out.
I play competitive soccer(obviously not during Covid) and when we play games we often have 3-10 other games or more playing around us and the parents cheering very loudly especially if the opposing team is from certain cities, when you have people cheering you and your team as well as others you kind of just think they are all, always cheering for everyone else. I tell myself that so I don’t get nervous, also when you are in “the zone” you don’t really notice the crowd.
2:10:40 - Kenzo Shirai's 16.133 on floor is the highest score in Olympic history for men on this event. What an incredible routine.

One of my favorite things is hearing Neil yelling for Nile on any apparatus he was doing.
Why? He's doing just what a father would do; what many other parents there and at home were doing; supporting their child in athletics.

@@matteozanoni9139 uhh lol ?? yes it is. this is called a maltese and the muscles used include abs, pecs, delts, biceps & traps. strong tendons too and p sure you need a strong core to be able to balance the way these gymnasts do especially on rings.

I think the differences between sex’s gymnastics is fascinating. Even on the same apparatus there are so many differences. There’s even differences in landing after tumbling on floor!

Japan had won multiple team gold medals at Worlds and Olympics in their history.
They last won Olympic team gold in 2004 and were the reigning World Team Champions going into Rio.

It’s interesting to me that women are criticized for having too many tumbling passes, and not enough “elegance or grace.” Women gymnasts are even criticized for not being good dancers on floor, but men are not judged off of any of these things.
My thoughts exactly , I even wrote a comment about it before I found urs
bc women are built differently and maybe it’s too much for them to do as many tumbling passes as men. women are just typically associated with grace and elegance so thats what they expect on the floor routine. if anything it’s a compliment bc more is expected of them. their floor routines involve more dance while the men’s is more about the power and amount of stunts

My gymnastics coach was supposed to go to the Olympics. I don’t remember what year it was but it was the year the USA boycotted the olympics. He never got to go. His best event? Pommel horse!
1980 USA together with several countries boycotted the Olympics held in Moscow

@@dododa6087 it was the US response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Some didn't join because they participated in the boycott and others just for economic reasons. Others had another reason. For some reason in 1984, the Soviet also boycotted the Olympics held in Los Angeles

Does anyone know why rollouts are banned for women’s gymnastics but allowed for men’s?
I wonder why too. I’m actually gonna look that up.
The internet said they were banned for men in 2017-2020 for safety. Apparently it could cause a lot of neck injuries, as far as paralysis. So it’s banned.

Never understood what the heck Ukraine was up to on HB. I noticed theiy were missing a score after Pbars and dropped to 8th I guess they figured they are out of the medal hunt already no point in putting anyone up that could get injured if u can't possibly medal anyway. No idea. Still to this day. Lol
The one who didn't do his routines was injured, the rest of the team did what they had to do, but without a score of 14-15 points in two rotations it was impossible to achieve anything.

I can't decide if I'd rather interpret the use of a Swiss gymnast in the thumbnail for a video replay of the 2016 men's team final as painfully ironic or as wishful thinking (with a little throwing of shade at Ukraine), because not only did the Swiss team finish qualification in 9th place and unfortunately just miss qualifying for the team final, but they also had to witness the Ukrainian team scratch performances and take themselves out of contention.
