FIFA 13 on 360 was the best for me because it was actually skilled based. And i used to slap people up with a silver ivory coast team. I enjoyed FIFA 17 but already hated FUT by then.
agreed, fifa 13 hit different imho, ofc there were certain things on FUT that were exploited but they still had counterplay, and i reckon the game was a lot more fluid and skill based then, too
Same. I used to play 2v2 on PC. Few players, especially since it was already dead. We were basically one of the best players around having a fierce rivalry with a Ukranian duo. Fun times.
Fifa 13 was amazing, ribery and robben, was that fifa with the glitched podolski with insane pace and shooting. I will never forget silver jimmy kebe, did absolute bits down the wing
I stuck to Online Seasons mode and I just remember friends watching in awe as I took Bayern to Division 1. Hell, I won with Giroud up top as a strategy for awhile. I just remember this game as being intense and every match exciting. It was rewarding.
Hey Dagnal, former TOP100 player from Berlin here!! FIFA 17 was just amazing, your video gave me nostalgia like nothing else before. FIFA 18 was the last FIFA i actually bought, after the "timed finishing" feature got introduced, which was the end of my FIFA career. Your video was just like "back to the future" for me. If you will be ever in Berlin, i would like to invite you to a Hertha BSC match. Continue with this amazing content. Deniz
Interesting take, IIRC 17 was considered way worse than 16 at the time. Pinball Fifa. Agree though, that 18 was even worse. I, too, quit Fifa for good then.
Fifa 17 was my first year playing ultimate team so this video brought back some beautiful memories. Ben arfa was a sensual card oh my days. Sturridge and lukaku up top also went to work in a 41212 narrow
@@Mise22 nah back then people didn’t spam left stick dribbling like they do now so height wasn’t really an issue. Obviously pace was still the meta though so he worked nicely
i was talking about it with a friend recently. we both loved fifa 17 and we started watching some old fifa 17 pack opnenings and weekend league gameplays. The nostalgia kicked in man we had so much fun in this game. It is so sad to see what this game is like nowadays.
Rashford in career mode. I just used to spam training with him(fill him in all the slots and make sure he gets As in everything) and he ended up an 89 overall in 2 and a half seasons. Crazy asset for me.
I remember getting to div 4 or div 3 with using a very low budget bpl team + alex hunter. sad that now that everyone basically has the same players and the same playstyle
Bro the off ball AI teammate runs in this game were the best to date, didn't need to manually do it or it wasn't stupid. It was genuinely perfect. The runs and ability of passing in this gamw were top notch.
Overthinking AI just ruins the flow of the game and they went too advanced to build everything over again i guess. So we're just sitting on a broken code, hotfixing it fifa by fifa. We're playing against not our opponents, but against AI, Pressure, RNG moments, bounces etc
Ehh in my opinion: people who think everything is almost and or always going backwards, are typically the ones that are stuck “backwards” in the past and don’t like change..
And for career mode guys like myself, it was one of the last to have meaningful training systems (every drill you instructed had purpose for improve a specific attribute of a player). Today's training just affects form which affects overall growth; not specific growth in just one particular area) This meant that you could actually train a player to improve in a certain aspect of his game without having the change his entire position or be forced to choose from a collection of arbitrary attribute gains. Sort of hard to explain without visuals but yeah the career mode was more fun back then even without Create a Club being added back in yet (a feature once there but removed for FUT ushering only to be brought back as a "new" feature)
Loved FIFA back then. This video explains it all. Back then you could GRIND the game, use your own Meta, having fun with the game. Even the gameplay was so much more fair and playable. Nowadays its just too much sweat, too much ratness, you playing 10 games of division rivals just gets you in a bad mood since you dont control the game. You lose to bad players and win sometimes against better players than you. fifa 17 gameplay was just like chess. You make a nistake you get punished, you read your opponnent you get rewarded! And for that i could play 10hrs straight, thats impossible to do nowadays!
I, being old enough remember how people were calling it the worst game ever. Maybe 7 years from now someone will be making a video about how awesome fc24 was😂
In my eyes the worst thing to happen to fifa was the OP finesse shots & the crazy packed cards. After a while you didn’t have to earn..EA was just giving stuff away for free didn’t feel fun anymore building a squad…so now I stick to seasons
I think the reason our generation keep playing is we're trying to chase the nostalgia if 14&17 hoping that one day it will go back to that so we continue to buy it hoping
it’s crazy how these games shape people. I listen to Resonance when i’m gaming all the time (especially Fifa) and all my friends online that grew up playing similar games found it as well
You forgot to mention the “tournament mode “ with different restriction . And the reward of tournament is excited , a permission to enter WL , plus tradable good pack , plus sometime is a special card . Also , in fifa 17 , skill gap 100% exist . Some high level player like to use op silver team to beat a very good team in season . Season is so enjoyable , you can see real variety of team , variety of playstyle . Fewer meta rat , more innovation . That was fun ! I miss this old day very very much .
ALSO I don't see enough people praise the DEFENDING on this game; you could actually manually switch to and select the right defenders so much easier with more accuracy, and move players into the right positions. That is so important because its so frustrating nowadays when you have to be able to somehow control every single one of your defenders at once and drag them into the right position, while also dealing with the game switching to players nowhere near the ball, and by that time your opponent has played through your out of position players or taken advantage of the LB/L1 or RS switch to a player you don't want
I used to be in div 2 back in FIFA 16/17 with a generic gold team. I've had a fair break but these days Im struggling in division 7 lol. Feels more like a simulator with all those features rather than a game
my favorite fifa 17 player was 84 Ben Yedder IF that actually got upgraded because he was an 81 before the winter upgrades, I packed him from a 5K pack after losing in the first round of draft
Would be cool of you to mention more of the offline modes. Career manager recieved some amazing improvements in this FIFA. That said I still play this game regularly to this day, what a game
Wow I actually forgot how good the player movement was. Seeing some of those old cards brought back really happy memories for me so thank you. The newest game is absolutely atrocious. I just watched your other video on why fc24 is a bad game, but seeing this one and just comparing the old gameplay to they new is so sad. The game used to feel alive. Now every game is just mind numbing and infuriating. Everyone uses the same meta rat cards, the same meta rat tactics, the same run down line, cutback, sweaty bullshit. I remember using like 3 different squads all at once, all from different leagues with just mediocre players and I was able to compete in the weekend league and get wins. Now I have two heroes and an icon in November and it’s a “bad team”. It makes me so unbelievably sad to see the thing I once loved so much slowly become completely unplayable. FIFA used to bring me so much joy, now it’s just an empty shell of what it used to be.
Been playing Fifa 17 for the last few months. Best decision I’ve made . Took me back to when it was really amazingly fun to play the game. Started 2 carrers, one with Totti’s last dance, and another were I moved rooney to Everton 2 years earlier and he demolish the prem. It’s really worth it.
I dont mind driven shots, they felt so much fun and its the build up that make you deserve those yes. I heard some friends say "i miss the time where we shot from the ground" talking about this ear and i agree
Fifa 13 was the last good Fifa. However Fifa 06 was my personal GOAT Fifa. 06 had a great soundtrack, career mode was way ahead of its time, commentary had personality to it and it had extras.

Man, FIFA used to be great before microtransactions ruined everything. I remember reaching Division 1 in FIFA 15 ultimate team using a squad of all French players that probably cost less than 50K coins, good times.
17:23 this is such a good point, that many fifa players dont realise because they dont play anything other than sports games/live service games. Like yeah i like fifa, really liked fifa 17, but it isnt even close to being in my top 10 or even top 25 games OAT, singleplayer games are for the most part just so much more polished and cared for, then modern day sports games. Thank you for reviving the nightmare Fenerbahçe duo of Emenike and Sow from my well suppressed nightmares. 7 years later, I can finally look at them fondly.
My favorite is Fifa 15 on ps3 cuz you could still buy coins and afford to do pack openings that actually paid off lol. Then I got a ps4 with fifa 16 and it felt like an actual new gen omgg the draft was new the animations were fresh and hella sunny and at the end of the year it was discovered that chemistry boost only worked on day 1 cards so only golds. After that you could just pick the best player in every draft pick and play him wherever on the pitch and it was the best thing ever I swear. Fifa 17 was my last year buying it in december and playing fut the whole year. It was fun not gonna lie. I still watch the content after years but It’s sad to see how noone is actually happy with what we got 😢
I hate ea fc. It’s so assisted I feel like Im watching a simulation sometimes. I used to be so good at the old fifas but this one you can’t even get the ball quickly of a sht player. There is no 1v1s anymore it’s almost like it’s designed for new or sht players so they can have a chance and pass it around. It’s lost it’s identity and it’s just custom tactics. It Feels like football manager. And I haven’t even started on the passing and the dribbling. Sometimes when you’re defending you just have to hope and wait til they make a mistake, it’s hard to even get near the ball. I just think you will always concede no matter how good the opponent is, your team just opens for them. My record is insane and I still hate it, it makes every game hard no matter how good the opponent it. The ONLY reason I still have it is because if pro clubs
This was the only game where i had fun having lewandowski on free arena mode just shooting from all areas qith all kinds of different swerves because the shot mechanics and ball movement mechanics were simply IMMACULATE, there has never been a better more satisfying shooting mechanic than fifa 17
i used to play fifa 13-17 with my friend at his house, and by the time i got my xbox it was the end of fifa 20, at least i got to experience the good games
Imagine if all Fifa fans just gets back to Fifa 17 and play it at a consistent basis and blow light in to the game again, so we all can just enjoy it together.
One of the most important thing is, back in those times the Momentum Mechanic was not this strong (or obvious)… these days I cannot even relax when I am 3-0 up
My friend just started playing seriously last year and he’s always complaining abt the “lack of content” and he doesn’t believe me that back in the day we would have to wait for like 2 weeks to get different content. It was also okay to use cards that you wanted 2 without having to worry that the cards tanking in price.
Very interesting video. I used to be #84 in Canada in FIFA 10 lol. I have been playing FIFA since forever. My last fifa was FIFA 17. I was always a divisions guy. Made it to div 1 and would have a blast playing the game. I didn’t think others would think it was the best fifa made. I asked some younger peeps which fifa they loved and 17 always comes up. For me a defining feature of that game were the runs the players make. The tracking felt great. I have returned to FC24 and it seems like an even bigger monetization mess. But I don’t fault only FC , 2k is just as bad. Watching this vid did make me remember the good times.
FIFA 17 was the last time I remember enjoying the gameplay of FIFA. It had none of the moving GK bs, or defenders just looking at the attacker instead of marking him, DMs actually tracking back and intercepting passes, and so on and so forth. Every game wasn't 5-4 or 6-5 or some ridiculous scoreline like that either. Scoring ACTUALLY felt rewarding. FC24 is the absolute antithesis of that. Its just sad man

@@linhza501 Yeah i've found myself constantly playing FIFA 18 for the past few months, i've just been doing lots of career modes for 6-7 seasons because the gameplay feels SO GOOD compared to FC25, it's a shame the AI aren't very good otherwise FIFA 18 would be legendary
Long shots with Balotelli and 89 Rooney different
I always liked fifa 12 imo fifa 12-15 was prime fifa. 16 and 17 where also fun. How we’ve had this bad of a drop off is crazy
I stuck to Online Seasons mode and I just remember friends watching in awe as I took Bayern to Division 1. Hell, I won with Giroud up top as a strategy for awhile.
I just remember this game as being intense and every match exciting. It was rewarding.
Cap, Giroud at bayern? What u smoking
great video. fifa 17 was special. i hope they one day take us back to the glory days
I'll take anything at this point, i'm starving
nothing like fifa 15 kid
Nothing like fifa 95 boy.@@izmolaitela6684
Fifa 25 has to do better
Hey Dagnal,
former TOP100 player from Berlin here!!
I remember when we all criticized fifa 17 because it looked like every fifa game released before that
Little did we know...
Fifa 18 also very good with real Madrid what are you talking about baby fifa?@@DagnalDiagonal
19 and 22 aren’t bad it just 22 is the PSG fifa game
lol same. I was quick to realize this was the last good fifa though .
you must be french I loved that game from the get go it was one of my first games on my then brand new ps4
Don't stop at fifa, football itself was better back then.
Fifa 17 was my first year playing ultimate team so this video brought back some beautiful memories. Ben arfa was a sensual card oh my days. Sturridge and lukaku up top also went to work in a 41212 narrow
wasn't sturridge still like 6'2 or 6'3 in fifa 17
@@Mise22 nah back then people didn’t spam left stick dribbling like they do now so height wasn’t really an issue. Obviously pace was still the meta though so he worked nicely
@@thegodofglebe2572 yeah I know he was absolutely op with that size and pace
i was talking about it with a friend recently. we both loved fifa 17 and we started watching some old fifa 17 pack opnenings and weekend league gameplays. The nostalgia kicked in man we had so much fun in this game. It is so sad to see what this game is like nowadays.
As a Fenerbahce fan you really brought back some deep memories. That Sow and Emenike combo was deaaadly. I used to ball with my SüperLig team
My fav FIFA was when Fener last won a title 😁
Rashford in career mode. I just used to spam training with him(fill him in all the slots and make sure he gets As in everything) and he ended up an 89 overall in 2 and a half seasons. Crazy asset for me.
Werner and Rashford in the attack in career mode😩😩
I could cry watching this back, used to place consistent top 100 in fifa 17 now I can't even break rank 1 ;( it's so saddening.
Man the nostalgia you gave me watching this was 18 when this one came out and played it religiously
I remember getting to div 4 or div 3 with using a very low budget bpl team + alex hunter. sad that now that everyone basically has the same players and the same playstyle
My last good fifa was fifa 15 but this was the last good fifa with modern content and gane modes. Miss these times. Likely won't be playing ever again
I respect it. I think FIFA 17 hinges between a good game and one of the better versions, but FIFA 15 could be better for sure
FIFA 15 and FIFA 14 definitely was the best soundtracks
oh yeah 100% still listening to those bangers
Fifa 11 and 12 are up there too
2005 for me
FIFA 19 has bangers as well.
Fifa 13
I may have to re-download this game. Brings me back to the deadly duo: Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben. Also with Alaba still as LB.
As a bayern fan im tearimg up
Bro the off ball AI teammate runs in this game were the best to date, didn't need to manually do it or it wasn't stupid. It was genuinely perfect. The runs and ability of passing in this gamw were top notch.
U obviously haven't played career mode
Bro you spoke to my soul omg. I literally have the same opinion especially soundtrack-wise. FIFA 14-15 were masterpieces.
Why cant they just make decent games like this anymore? Why must we always go backwards
Overthinking AI just ruins the flow of the game and they went too advanced to build everything over again i guess. So we're just sitting on a broken code, hotfixing it fifa by fifa. We're playing against not our opponents, but against AI, Pressure, RNG moments, bounces etc
money
Why? Because monopoly.
Honestly there isn’t much of a difference but people want to feel what they used to feel years ago
Ehh in my opinion: people who think everything is almost and or always going backwards, are typically the ones that are stuck “backwards” in the past and don’t like change..
FIFA17's menu alone made you wanna boot it up and play a game ... Sunny, warm & inviting. Add a bomb soundtrack to it and there was nothing better
Lol
I remember complaining about the only way to score when the game came out was low shots 😂😂. How I wish we could go back in hindsight
Remember watching AA9 Road To Glory. That shit was the best series ever
So many good series and videos overall
That’s when the driven low shot was crazy good and useful… plus easy to do with the double power tap action
I shed a tear every time I look at fifa 17 martial, my hero, my goat, my everything, I bought his jersey as a kid cause I loved him so much
Still love him
balls
I think the reason our generation keep playing is we're trying to chase the nostalgia if 14&17 hoping that one day it will go back to that so we continue to buy it hoping
Maybe, but those days are long gone. I play the 10 EA play trial hours every year and then call it good until next year.
Fifa 17 was the goat. I played 5000 or 6000 UT games. I enjoyed the game soo much. Bultland and ibrahimovic are goats
it’s crazy how these games shape people.
Reus on the cover.. chef’s kiss.
Pro clubs gameplay was so good too
I used to be in div 2 back in FIFA 16/17 with a generic gold team. I've had a fair break but these days Im struggling in division 7 lol. Feels more like a simulator with all those features rather than a game
my favorite fifa 17 player was 84 Ben Yedder IF that actually got upgraded because he was an 81 before the winter upgrades, I packed him from a 5K pack after losing in the first round of draft
first introduction of hunter went craaaaaaaaaaaazy
The squad building was the best part, I'd be building new teams every week lmao it was actually a joke within my friend group
Chilling late night with the boys playing Fifa 17/18, GTA 5, battlefield 1/4, black ops 3, Rainbow 6, life was good 😔
Been playing Fifa 17 for the last few months. Best decision I’ve made . Took me back to when it was really amazingly fun to play the game. Started 2 carrers, one with Totti’s last dance, and another were I moved rooney to Everton 2 years earlier and he demolish the prem.
It’s really worth it.
I played FIFA 17 so much when I was like 11, if only I had known back then what FIFA would be like when I’m an adult
I dont mind driven shots, they felt so much fun and its the build up that make you deserve those yes. I heard some friends say "i miss the time where we shot from the ground" talking about this ear and i agree
I mean, anyone 25 and over remembers the goold old days, my favourites, 03, 12 and 16
Fifa 13 was the last good Fifa. However Fifa 06 was my personal GOAT Fifa. 06 had a great soundtrack, career mode was way ahead of its time, commentary had personality to it and it had extras.
FIFA 14 was my first FIFA, absolute memories.
you really had me completely focused watching a 20min video about fifa… such a rare thing nowadays, continue the good content, you now have a new subscriber!❤
That ultimate scream 64 rated Emre Mor was goated. Mfs would build their entire team around him in October / November that year 😩💔
I feel like ever since EA switched to the frostbite engine (in all their games at this point), FIFA just went down hill
Really appreciate the vid, for someone who didn't played fifa 17 ut but the normal game it brings memories and i started playing again after 6 years juste to enjoy. This vud makes this even better thank you and keep up the great work ❤
seeing how the players automaticaly moved is a nice change
driven shot in 17 was amazing. tots season was also so fun.. all the cards were usable.
FIFA 17 was the first one I ever owned. I remembered playing earlier versions of the game at a friends house and saw it on sale for like $20. I loved that game and it was the one I was worst at.
It’s crazy, I spend more time doing sbc’s than actually playing the game in eafc24
FIFA 17 was my first ever FIFA and I loved it I still play it to this day every now and then.
When you could have a gold team and didnt need to spend 5k on points to be meta. Fifa 17 is the last time i was ever div 1 as just loved playing it. Also, never forget that ben arfa card, best cam ever on fifa
And it is truly sad that alot of Fifa players will never try games like elden ring and BOTW
40 games of champs was a time to be alive
Best FIFA soundtrack: Fifa 2003. In My Mind by Antiloop playing in the loading screen would just get you hyped as fuck. I mean it was the first FIFA I played when I was about 5 or 6 y/o, and the songs from the soundtrack just makes me so full of nostalgia.
broooo I remember packing 80 pace, 3*/3* , 61 agility and 45 balance TOTS Dzyuba on my homies' PS 3, we linked him with like Witsel or Dzagoev and he immediately became the star of our squad. and the excitement you got while getting walkout, we all were just screaming "WALKOUT WALKOUT" while packing some Santi Cazorla lol
atsel witsel still plays doesnt he
@@mizzo_1 yeah he plays for Atletico Madrid and he's actually pretty good
Thank you for reviving the nightmare Fenerbahçe duo of Emenike and Sow from my well suppressed nightmares. 7 years later, I can finally look at them fondly.
Damn you are so underrated . Great video
Thank you thank you thank you, i really appreciate it
Bro !! They got tired of us hogging the TV hitting bongz every evening,17 was a blast of a game !! 😂 so sad where we are now
I dont remember ever raging in this game
I broke controllers over fifa 17 ut lmao we had completely different experiences
Pro clubs is AMAZING, tbh that's a good reason to play. Beyond that, not so much
But also, football manager is great i won't take that slander haha
How does PRO clubs make it any good? Same shitty gameplay and RAT meta?
This was the only game where i had fun having lewandowski on free arena mode just shooting from all areas qith all kinds of different swerves because the shot mechanics and ball movement mechanics were simply IMMACULATE, there has never been a better more satisfying shooting mechanic than fifa 17
I will never forgive ea for removing low driven shots
the across goal double tap O/B shots on this game were insane.
Ohhhh the soundtrack and menu’s of this game are SO underrated and SO nostalgic bro
I was 10 yrs old coming home from school logging onto FIFA 17 😢
i used to play fifa 13-17 with my friend at his house, and by the time i got my xbox it was the end of fifa 20, at least i got to experience the good games
Imagine if all Fifa fans just gets back to Fifa 17 and play it at a consistent basis and blow light in to the game again, so we all can just enjoy it together.
Servers are down, sadly
One of the most important thing is, back in those times the Momentum Mechanic was not this strong (or obvious)… these days I cannot even relax when I am 3-0 up
The graphics, the trailers, the intros, the journey, the gameplay. It was just amazing. Fifa 15 comes at a distant number 2 for me.
Lowkey, the mechanics of FIFA 15 were better imo, but in good gameplay the general experience of fifa 17 and everything it offered was better
Zardes Dybala and Elton Tots, Legends.
My friend just started playing seriously last year and he’s always complaining abt the “lack of content” and he doesn’t believe me that back in the day we would have to wait for like 2 weeks to get different content. It was also okay to use cards that you wanted 2 without having to worry that the cards tanking in price.
Who remembers TOTS Mertens
Its just sad man
Facts !!
*FIFA 17 Gameplay on the XBox360 is still PEAK across all consoles.*
(newer FIFA's tried too hard to be more realistic than last year that the gameplay gets worse each year)
Craziest part is that i.d.e.c about the Online part of it, I've ALWAYS enjoyed the purity of playing video games OFFLINE without strangers being involved in my chill-time..
JUST ME, MY CONTROLLER & CAREER MODE !! (Maaan Those were the days)
❤
FIFA 16-17 were the GOATS years. I always play to buy the best Man City team in FUT and would play my homies in online friendly seasons. Those were the days with my 89 pace, 89 Dri, and 89 shot gold 89 Aguero card so much good nostalgia thanks for the vid 💙🌬🐐⚡️🐌☃️🤟🏻🧘🏼♂️🥂😊
What I remember first time when playing FIFA 17 is the grass look absolutely stunning on high res.
Actually, the frostbite engine ruined fifa
I didn’t grow up playing fifa only started in college when my roommate from Costa Rica played it and I loved Fifa 14&15 nothing overly complicated just fun games with fun game modes
Why are you only yapping about ultimate team, career mode is where it’s at
sadly nobody plays carrer mode that much
No one plays career mode lil bro
The reason why I love FIFA 17 the most it's because of Marco Reus. Since I met him through that cover I became obsessed with him and BVB and became a fan for life of BVB... FIFA 17 quite literally showed me the love of my life and I'll always remember it for it 💛🖤
Man, I just discovered your channel in the last few period and I love your contents! And this is video is wonderful, you captured in the best way all the details that made this game perfect. My favorite FIFA of all time, I dream to live those times again! 🧡
Ps. I remember that one of my favorites players was Rashford because he was quite unknown and loved his stats! And my career mode in Italian Serie B with Ferrara (SPAL) was goated, with Mirko Antenucci being my best striker hahah :))
Start naming the soundtrack song
Me: Dont know a single one. Move on.
fifa 17 online servers closed like a few weeks ago unfortunately
I was hoping to log into my FUT account for the video, but I couldn't :/
I have been playing fifa 17 for a little over one month. The movement of my players is very good, specially when marking the opposition. They do what I expect them to do, and it is very nice.
