Hey I love these tutorials can you do one on flying RNAV or VOR approaches I got told to fly one in JFK on VATSIM yesterday and had no clue what I was doing (specifically for the FlyByWire A320N MFS2020)
@@tolas87 yeh I know I fly on MFS2020 and because it’s a lot less realistic (but getting better) it might not do what the realistic Toliss X Plane A320 can do. I should’ve been more specific about what sim I’ll change that
If you use the free FlyAndWire A32NX community mod, it should act the same way as real life. They've done (and are still doing!) so much to improve the base aircraft. Definitely going to become the "Zibo mod" of FS2020 in terms of universal recommendation.
Yet again another brilliant video, that answered a lot of questions for me regarding taxi procedures at airports. You have added immensely to the immersion I get from the sim, even after many years of me being a sim pilot. Thank you for making these videos available to all.
I guess when Navdata sync with navigraph is working better you can just read the charts.... and since you have the reference on which gate youre currently at you can most def navigate your way through the airport....
Loving the videos! They have been of great help. FYI, the latest FBW dev version appears to have fixed the taxi/thrust issue. Surprised me the first time as I started to creep forward after engine start, gotta keep the parking brake on! And it does indeed slowly accelerate at idle thrust. Also, their new installer makes it super simple to keep the mod up to date with either the dev version or release version.
I recommend little navmap. Its a free software which gives real time gps of your sim. It even shows taxiways with stands. And you can set it to your ingame scenary
Great video on a part of the job that few others bother to cover. I landed at EHAM yesterday evening and had the same difficulty at C3 with lighting ... thought I'd gone wrong!
If you want to open the VFR map and also steer the plane in drone camera mode, press C on your keyboard and then you can control everything as normal and when you want to go back to camera drone mode to move the camera press C again. :)
What I am curious about is the procedures to follow on a small airport where there is only one taxiway that connects to the runway in the middle and you need to use the runway to get to your take-off position. I imagine you would hold short before the runway, switch to Tower, get clearance to resume the rest of your taxi on the runway and get take-off clearance once you get to the start of the runway. Which of course doesn't quite work that way in MSFS with default ATC. So I sometimes get clearance before stepping onto the runway, and sometimes just get to the start of the runway and then get clearance.
Thanks for this... just a note - I've checked on GoogleEarth - Heathrow does have a take-off arrow zone on the threshold at both 09L and 09R. Again the sim is amazingly accurate.
By the way, there is a very useful program called Little NavMap that shows your location while you're playing MSFS. It shows taxiways and runways in airports and also lots and lots of useful info in the air. I always use it when I'm trying to taxi to the runway I need
Another little trick that you can use, is to call up the airport chart (not taxi way or parking) and then turn on the white arrow (which will turn red). Then you can actually see where you are in relation to the airport and also often, the taxiways.
I find all of your videos to be super informative, relaxing and exceptionally helpful to novices like me and others as we attempt to try to get to grips with aviation in the new simulator and study a complex A320 airliner along with its many systems! Thanks for the video I would like to ask, do the real world pilot use parking brake when you need to wait on the taxiway for a very short time? For example, letting another aircraft to pass by the taxiway ahead, or lining up for take off. Or you will hold on the normal brake instead? Thanks!
Thank you very much! This is going to save me so much pain in the future.. In my first vatsim session i got lost in Rome Fiumicino's taxiways following ATC directions :)
Has anyone else ran into the issue of, my ATC tells me to taxi via "ALPHA BRAVO" but for instance, BRAVO is on the opposite side of the airport as where the blue indicators take you? Seems as if it isn't working properly yet..

Hey man, love your videos. I've always wondered, do you pilots also get anxious as a result of turbulence? I was considering buying it but quite honestly, although it's fascinating to watch you, I don't have the patience for all the intricacies. Keep on making these videos, thank you!!!
Yeah, you can take a smaller airplane and start on the runway fully set up or even in the air. It's easy. But honestly I never thought I would fly a A320 with use of auto pilot and flying automated approaches. I thought it's too much effort. But a few youtube videos later, that's all I do in this sim. It's rewarding and you keep always learning.
In the last stream you asked if there is a game that you could play, and there is one that could be for you. And pls stay with me this is going to be a long one. The Game is called DCS World it is a flight sim like msfs 2020 or xp11, but you don't fly commercial planes instad you fly fighter jets. And now a few points why the game is so nice: 1. The Base game is 100% free, it includes the game it self (with a mission editor, training missions Multiplayer etc.) the Caucasus map (it is located in the west of the black sea) a warbird (fully clickable but not armed) the russian A2G striker Su-25t (for starters non cklickable, but wepponised) 2. Alltough it could look a bit crazy that some modules(so are the DLCs called) can cost up to 80-90$ you can just wait until there is a sale in witch you normaly get a 50% discount(unless the module was released 1 month ago). 3. DCS has a high learning curve, because there are a lot of good TH-cam Videos out there. 4. The game looks just Beautiful, the details inside the airplane is just amazing. 5. At some point you will ask your self: Why isn't the whole world moddeled? Thats because nearly every object is destroyable! And many more... if this sounds nice I will post a link under this comment to a video that explains the same what i just wrote here. 👌 After reading this comment through I realy have to say... It sounds like I'm a sales person who want's to sale you something 😅. (And sorry for my bad english 😅)
Hi Alexander, thanks for watching and commenting. I have very little experience in DCS world but I have tried it. Let just say I’m hoping to get it onto the channel at some point. I’ve been feeling the need for speed....
@@320SimPilot 😂 yea it is always fun to go by the Tower at mach 1+. I have played the Game for about 3 Years now and from my expiriance it is well worth it, because I'm 15 now and I'm able to fly and manage every module I bought and I have a many (F/A 18c, F-14B A-10C, A-10C II, all the Helos, the SuperCarrier, the PG map, CA. And as far as I can say it was well worth it! 👌 If you should by a Plane, then pls buy the F/A 18C Hornet first when it is on sale, because it is the best Airplane from my expireance, because it can do everything. (And I'm already Hyped for the Eurofighter that will come out in about one Year). (Here are some TH-cam channels that are good for new guys: Redkite, Ralfidude. And Laobi if you want the quick info).
You can use simtoolkitpro for your charts, it has some of the same ones you are using (from public sources) Love your videos btw :) p.s. I recently learned: You want to start Engine 1 first. (At least in real life), especially if you want to taxi with 1 engine. It has to do with what systems are powered by what engine. Can you confirm?
Hey! first i want to say thx for good learning movies! I note that you mention, you often tax on idle thrust and the A320 increases speed in real life. I have experienced this after the new update from FBW. Another thing I have learned, is that the A320 makes the final approach, with very low throttle (N1). Is this real, or is it unrealistic dynamics in the game? appreciate your replay! Greetings From Norway!
Well, I've just tried to use the bell icon, but TH-cam informs me that the feature is turned off for: 'content made for kids'. I'm not sure at this stage if that constitutes as an insult or a hilarious example or irony, in any case, the adult in me knows how to deal with it ;)
The centerline reference from left seat when taxing was super helpful! Thank you.
Glad it helped Mr Martini!
Google Maps seems to suggest that Heathrow is actually exactly like that with a displaced threshold on 9L and 9R. Frighteningly accurate!

Google maps' "satellite view" confirms the arrows at runway 9L.
I just wish it was a bit easier to read the signs in game.
well explained
It's a shame that the vfr map doesnt include taxiways
"O,N,E 24.475, I have this problem with mine as well, so annoying
Can you fly from the right hand seat ever?
yeah, both sides are functionally identical
You can use simtoolkitpro for your charts, it has some of the same ones you are using (from public sources)
Love your videos btw :)
Did you actually turn Left on C4 , not C3? Out of interest , in the real world what would have happened as a consequence of taking the wrong turn?
30 knots? Wow, here i was keeping it at 10-15 knots, lol.
Well, I've just tried to use the bell icon, but TH-cam informs me that the feature is turned off for: 'content made for kids'. I'm not sure at this stage if that constitutes as an insult or a hilarious example or irony, in any case, the adult in me knows how to deal with it ;)
Very strange, it should be available. Thanks for letting me know!
skyvector is a great website to get airport maps quickly as well
download fitplan go for free graphs and charts! if you don't wanna pay
How do I get ‘the mod’?
Thanks for watching. Link is in the description, ‘flybywire a32NX’
Now if the sim would have to you wait in line with a half dozen or more aircraft for the same RWY, then we'll be talking about realism. 🤣
