I have been through that struggle. After being wounded in 2005 into my 3rd tour, I was a mess when I came back. I lost my purpose in life. Drugs, booze, being homeless. The VA in mpls mn saved my life. I now have a service dog for my ptsd and I am living life again. Thank you for reacting to this song. I had seen the video 50 times and tears me up every time. It was me. I didn’t watch the video, I watched you guys and you made me cry because I seen the pain in your faces. I love you guys and your reactions. Oorah! VA Viera, Florida saved my life also. They actually found me. I had no clue what was going on with my life. They helped me with years of homelessness alcohol problems due to PTSD. I thought all this was normal.They intervened. I’m glad youre we’ll. Simper Fi!

As a veteran who is currently dealing with homelessness this song hits so home with me. The VA helps as much as they can and luckily I have amazing employers at the hotel I work at who are also helping me as much as they can. To all my brothers and sisters in arms out there; never give up! You can fight through the depression and the nightmares and if you are ever in doubt if anyone loves you, know that I love you. HOOAH!
This is exactly why the expression America First, stands so strong. We owe our veterans alot, and this is proof we have failed so many.
"You know me, you saved my life brother!" That part gets me every time.

I think he was saying, "It's Jacoby !" If you look at his body armor, it has his name on the front of it (that was common, since body armor covered up their shirts that had their last names on them).
It gets me every time too, especially when he is crying and wiping his tears saying its ok.
My father is a vet and he always says. "Freedom isn't free" meaning what our troops fight for so we can be free. We should support our troops and vets anyway we can.
I too was caught off guard when I watched this video. One of the most powerful music videos I have ever watched.
Yall are Good folks. When I was in college after the Marine Corps they called me names, I was in 3 combat deployments and some kids would make fun. I looked at them and walked away. Lost my brothers and they did not understand..Thank you for your compassion.

As an American veteran, both Marines and Army (hard to believe I know). Served 34 months over 3 tours in Iraq. It feels good that y’all care so much when sometimes it seems our own government, who sent us there, couldn’t give a shit less. I’ve been battling PTSD since my first deployment in 2003, the Invasion. I’ve lost 32 brothers killed in action and it haunts my dreams every night. I served in the marines during the end of Vietnam and a lady refused to sit next to me on a flight home. My son served in iraq and afghan it broke my heart to watch his wife and little son saying goodbye. When a service member leaves the whole family sacrifices. Thank you for caring.
I only wish more people would truly see the sacrifice these warriors make to give us all FREEDOM. God Bless them all. We are a family and a Brotherhood of One. Keep in mind for many the fights not over even when they return.......

There is some debate about the girl with the flowers and her mother, some have said it was the veterans daughter and mom didn't even recognize him, and that would be sadder still, but he clearly lost access to his daughter, the girl made a gesture of kindness to him, and the mother pulled her away as if her daughter should have nothing to do with this random guy on the street.
The police officer noticed the tattoo and realized what this man must have been through, and offered a little dignity back to him even if he had to take him in.
The volunteer, as it happened, recognized the man who saved his life and couldn't just walk away.
My father never really talked about his time in the conflict of his day. My grandfather never spoke of his experiences in WWII. They were fortunate in that they both were able to come home, and build a life.
My father came home from the Navy, drove over 30 hours straight to get home, married my mother, and had 2 sons, then took up a position in law enforcement. He died l, active duty as a deputy Sheriff. He was planning to retire when the sheriff did, in 2020. He was joking about "not wanting to have to break in a new Sheriff next year" only a few weeks before he was just. In an instant. Gone.
This... they do so much for veterans and law enforcement. And yes... if you don't shed a tear at this,then you have no soul. I would love to see y'all do more 5fdp, it's not all sad... they're amazing guys though who help a lot of people throught their music and things they do to raise money for charities. Awesome guys.
I'm a disabled army vet and yes was homeless. I just received some help in getting a little apartment just two weeks ago and it is my own home for first time in several years. I still have a long ways to go and not really sure what to think or exspect. Just wanted to say thank you for showing that video. More people need to be aware, it is real.
As the grandson of a WWII veteran. My grandfather was stationed in the Philippines during the siege, and liberation of the islands from the Japanese. I have two freinds who have served, and is currently serving. One was a Marine, and the other is currently serving in the Army. My Army freind just received an accommodation, silver star, and his second Purple heart for gallantry, and getting his squad to safety while he was injured and under heavy fire from insurgents.
I tried to enter the Navy, but was denied due to preexisting conditions. So I serve my country by being there for our men and women who serve. Semper Fi.

Thank you so much for helping to bring awareness to the plight of my brothers and sisters. People understand this is all too real. For instance over have the people at my wedding, including my best man, are gone now. Although I am out now it took me years to heal and became a Pastor because of it. We have so much more work to do. Until we all can come home.
Thanks for the reaction. Disabled Veteran here, wishing the solutions were easy, knowing they will never be. 22 a day still is an ongoing battle. Unfortunately, the system is bigger than any administration, and what needs to be fixed is not something a sing;e stroke of the pen can handle. Red on Friday until all the deployed come home. A simple optical statement to so many.

I love the passion that the American people have for the Vetrans and serving, it's so sad to say but I honestly don't see that in Britain / UK, I have been a Civillian for 8 years now and its so hard to adapt to the so called normal aspects of life ie running a house working with individuals with no core values etc, I had a saying that was over used when I left the Military " life was so much easier when all you had to do is stay alive".
I'm a Vetran of 22 years service in the British Army, I have seen active service in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and United Nation peace support operations.
It's fair to say I watch this and it hits hard, so many accuracies attached to this video and many more like it.
I would like to take this opertunity to thank my amazing Daughter for standing by me and giving me a reason to come home, this young lady grew up with me serving so she has sacrificed and shown selfless commitment for the greater good too, I love you so much and thank you for being you my amazing Daughter.
I'm proud to have served my family, country and SOME of the good people within it, I would also like to state that my service was all combat based and I served with heros, my Brothers and Sisters respect to you and I love you all.

I know that you're son passed away some time ago.... There is nothing I can say that will change that. My niece just took her life about a month ago. But I really appreciate you guys paying respect to all vets, that are have given their lifes..... I have lost 2 friends in iraq

First off I want to thank you for the heart felt reaction and your love and support. Christmas day 2007 while out on patrol one of our vehicles hit an IED. The blast killed my best friend and two other brothers in my unit. After returning home it took about a year before I could comfortably drive around town. Simply stopping at a red light, traffic jams or just heavy traffic would trigger my PTSD. Even the garbage or junk on the median or shoulder could trigger it. In Iraq roadside garbage usually blew up, and stopped or slowing traffic usually meant ambush. Most of the support our troops talk and generosity goes away once a service man returns home. They think once we get home the war is over for us. In my case once I got home the hardest part of the war had just begun. Because when you spend your day fighting to stay alive the training kicks in and everything becomes muscle memory, and there's little time to digest what's happening. The military spends a lot of time and money in to training you for war, but next to nothing into preparing you to be a civilian again. Thank you again for your support and kind words.

Im here too as a veteran of 12+ years, 8 of it in Iraq before the 2nd IED got me... 19 died trying to save me after the medical helicopter crashed... I'm grateful to be alive, even with my left side tore up and I can barely walk. Thank you for this.

So many people jump on the bandwagon virtue signalling the latest conflict fad! They pathetically bleat on about the Ukrainian war without fully understanding the real reasons for it…Yet they don’t care about the other conflicts across the world that have been raging for years!

I posted on one of your reaction videos earlier. When I seen the title song for this reaction video, I wanted to see. I was presented this song last year and I vowed to never watch it ever again. It hurt me deep, made me cry. Thank you for the support. You and most Americans have no idea that there are some Americans that still, to this day, spit on us and really hate us. In divorce court, I was in a wheelchair from losing a part of my skull. I could not walk or read yet. My ex still convinced the judge that I was a trained killer. I haven’t been able to see my two daughters since, I served my country and gave a large part of my body, years of physical therapy to learn how to talk, walk and read again. The hardest part of it all is not being allowed to see my girls grow up.
We have these men and women out there, they are suffering so much. Our country needs to do more. Love this band, 5FDP has always been powerful with their songs.

Just goes to show, we should give a lot more respect and appreciation to our veterans than ever. This song and a cover of Lee Greenwood's famous "God bless the USA" are two of my favorite military-themed songs of all time. I'm very thankful we have them in our lives.
I got recruited when I was homeless and when I got out ibwas back to being homeless, now I am married have 3 kids and one Grand baby .i just wished I could find my drill Sgt's and thank them.
Something that I believe comes through in all of your reactions is your heart. Your capacity to feel the music, the respect that you put in every video, and your compassion. I can only imagine how great of a childhood your son had with such loving, open-minded parents. Thank you for what you do. I am terminally ill, and sometimes the weight of that keeps me up all night. Watching these videos allows me an escape. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

@Kel-n-Rich I could tell your wife was holding back the urge to burst when she was watching, I didn't serve myself but my cousin did, and he was never the same after he came home, emotionally distant, violent at times when he is vaguely reminded of losing friends or past combat situations, he sadly became addicted to hard drugs. I rarely see him anymore since he became homeless, he bounces between long beach ca and south carolina. I love him to death dearly for his emotional and physical sacrifice, I think that sometimes the only people who can get thru to what society labels "lost causes" is other veterans, they truly understand.
This hits hard, We have got to do something my brothers and sisters.
Just remember not only US solidiers made the sacrifice

You don't have to be a veteran to shed tears watching this video. it's too crass how the us government drops their heroes. every soldier is a hero. That's not how you treat your people. war is ugly enough but after the war the suffering goes on for these people. it hurts your soul to experience something like that.
man muss kein veteran sein um bei diesem video tränen zu vergiesen. es ist zu krass wie die us regierung ihre helden fallen lässt. jeder soldat ist ein held. so behandelt man seine leute nicht. krieg ist schon hässlich genug aber nach dem krieg geht das leiden weiter für diese menschen. es tut einem in der seele weh sowas mitzuerleben.
This video and song make me tear up every time I see/hear it. My son spent time in Afghanistan and is a disabled vet. Thankfully he's found his way to normalcy but it took work and time for him to get there. I wish there was an easy answer for the vets.

Even though I never saw combat, and my husband came home from Afghanistan in one piece (physically, anyway), I can't watch this video without crying to this day. Not only is it horrible for the soldiers who serve, but their families who live with sometimes years of not knowing where their loved one is (whether it's their father, brother, son, mother, sister, or daughter) or if they're even alive.
When my husband was deployed, I would literally hold my breath, my entire body sort've folded in on itself if an unfamiliar vehicle (especially dark vans or SUVs) would turn down our street, and couldn't start to relax until they passed the house without stopping to let out an Officer and Chaplain (that's who notifies next of kin of a fallen soldier).
I had nightmares for months after my husband got back, after a unit buddy showed me pictures of their humvee shot full of holes the Sunday before their tour of duty was over. While we were at home celebrating that Daddy was about to come home, and planning a BBQ with his family for after his return, he was being shot at on their last recon mission, and the gun on top of their humvee seized up so they couldn't even return fire. It still makes me physically ill to think about, and that was almost 6 years ago. He's a Reservist now instead of Active Duty.
A lot of my friends couldn't wrap their heads around how I was completely unbothered by the year he spent activated at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. It's hard for them to understand that you don't care about missing birthdays, Christmas, and anniversaries just because you know they're still Stateside, because you've had to live through two years of not knowing if they were dying somewhere halfway around the world.
I've often heard it said that while one should thank a service member for their service, you should also thank their family for their sacrifice, not for a passed family member, but for the time they spent worrying that they may never see that family member again. So, in that sense, thank you for the sacrifice you made while your husband was deployed.

It’s okay to cry.I’m a Marine of eight years and a Desert Storm veteran.everything is this is true.we go to combat and in the end we fight for our brothers at our side.killing someone is not natural,all the training in the world doesn’t teach you how to live with it when it’s all over.whats worst is when your brothers die at your side,then you suffer with survivor guilt.unless you have been through this you can’t understand.what bothers me is this.when I die and go before God and he asked myself why did you kill my children,what I’m I suppose to say;it was my job.not the only one who thinks this,more then you realize.you two do a great job enjoy your videos

As an Air Force Vet, I highly recommend listening to Five Finger Death Punch's 'Gone Away'. As 'Wrong Side of Heaven' is about the soldiers who made it back home, 'Gone Away' is for the ones who didn't, and those they left behind. It's a recreation of the same song done by the Offspring.
Coming home from all that can be hard. You didn't want to let anyone down while in the middle of the worst possible place on earth and you don't want to let down or disappoint the people you care about when you get home. This captures some of that.
