No, PlayStation has done masterpiece platforming games since their inception, Ape Escape, Jumping Flash, Crash Bamdicoot, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank Etc. So don't step to me trying to say nintendo owns the platforming genre. AstroBot just proves once again PlayStation is amazing at making amazing platformers .
@@FrawgfithAmblose The main difference is that PlayStation barely makes 3D platformers now these days and that Astro Bot is the exception, not the rule, for modern Sony games. Those examples you've listed were mostly during the PS1 and PS2 eras (with Ratchet being the only exception for modern stuff since Insomniac works on those games whenever not working on a Marvel title [and even then, there were only 2 Ratchet titles from 2016 onward with one of them being a movie tie-in]). We also had that relatively average Sackboy: A Big Adventure title that was made during the PS5 era, but it's nowhere near as good as the greats that Nintendo and classic Sony made.
Astrobot is my favorite platformer since Mario Galaxy 2. I love Super Mario, but I cannot deny that Astrobot has taken the crown in the 3D platformer genre so far.

Playroom VR is fantastic party VR game with VR and non VR players and it’s free, they need to do remaster for PSVR2. Also PS5 Astro’s playroom is also a super quality free game. Now they need to do an awesome gokart racing game

He had a huge impact with their games. I hope this doesn't change the structure of Insomniac for how they do videogames,.

Astro Bot is a 9/10 game for sure and one of the best platformers outside of Nintendo. My only issue is there feels like theres no momentum. It feels like no matter how fast I'm going if I jump and use the hover it slows me down. Odyssey has great momentum in chaining Mario's move set.

I know its for portability but you take so much away and charge the same if not more just for portability? A steam deck gives you that portability and more power. Even sony with the vita would charge $10 less for the vita version or if you bought a game digitally you'd get the PS3 and Vita versions sometimes for free. Even the PS4 version too. I got my switch for exclusive too but them always being so expensive is why I stick to buying on PC or Playstation. The few games on switch aren't enough to warrant me to support nintendo. I only mostly game abit to play with my girlfriend and play afew exclusives. Won't support any more than that.

You feel like you are playing with a toy. -for each world you have extra level where you play other games like Ape Escape, God of War, Loco Loco or Horizon Zero Down, but in Astro bot version/spin of it. - you save bots from other legendary IPs - general joy of playing the game due to wide selection of abilities - turing into a mouse and world becoming super big due to this or a giant sponge. Music is superb, level designs are awesome. -boss fights are better than in Mario games (I’ve bought Switch to just play Mario Odyssey and buying Switch 2 once new platformer will be released)

For example, they assisted with development with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Also Nintendo owns (or is at least partnered with, I don't fully remember) Retro Studios which is in Austin Texas and made the Metroid Prime Games, the Donkey Kong Country games on Wii and later, and they assisted with development of Mario Kart 7.

You should also note that the current president of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser (Yes, that is his actual last name), was pretty close to Reggie before he left the company.

@BBh-g5zbgfff , that's fine, but this is a Sony game. And, this was in 2024, the year for Sony in which it was mostly dry with first party and third party. And, the playerbase is already around 60 million users or more. And again, it had the Sony brand name on it, who is supposedly the market leader in console gaming. This all means that we CAN and SHOULD use sales to gauge the quality and performance of this game. Only 2 options exist as to why it might be considered a "failure". 1) The game isn't as great as what have been portrayed, therefore, not worth the price. 2) Sony gamers are not into games that are "cartoony" or "kiddie" as Nintendo gamers are, which also implies the incompetence of Sony for not knowing who their gaming customers are.

What does that have to do with Nintendo? At least Astro Bot is a 3D platformer. There is nothing Nintendo has put out that's close to BG3. TOTK, maybe, but that's it.
BG3 is amazing but it didn't "outdo" Nintendo because it isn't at all similar to what Nintendo makes. Astro Bot is a 3D platformer, Nintendo's bread and butter. And Team Asobi did a fantastic job.

@BBh-g5zbgfff , that's fine, but this is a Sony game. And, this was in 2024, the year for Sony in which it was mostly dry with first party and third party. And, the playerbase is already around 60 million users or more. And again, it had the Sony brand name on it, who is supposedly the market leader in console gaming. This all means that we CAN and SHOULD use sales to gauge the quality and performance of this game.
Only 2 options exist as to why it might be considered a "failure". 1) The game isn't as great as what have been portrayed, therefore, not worth the price. 2) Sony gamers are not into games that are "cartoony" or "kiddie" as Nintendo gamers are, which also implies the incompetence of Sony for not knowing who their gaming customers are.
He's right Mario Odyssey is still a better game than Astrobot. not to mention ALL their other first party titles
