Great video and lovely family! I also live in Vancouver 😍 I’m actually from Brazil and living here for about 2.5 years. And my little boy is turning 1 year this month.
Thanks! That was indeed the case last week as there were some events going on. Typically since moving out of downtown, I just do WFH. I'd say too many meetings is common enough too ya, but so far it's been not bad at MS.
My brother works in engineering too, for a big company and his schedule is similar. I'm studying programming and software engineering and the only thing that I'm dreading are the meetings. More often than not, they're a waste of time. Micromanagement I would say.
@@gregap8282 I think the entire working world is still trying to find a balance of meetings/standups/etc since going hybrid/wfh. We've already had some weeks with less meetings or no meeting days have become normal to combat this issue.

I currently work at Tesla as a SWE intern right now. I always wanted to work at MSFT but can never get a interview :( . I walked pass that building all the time when I work downtown Vancouver.
Awesome! I'm sure you'll get one eventually. I did my interviews during a hiring event. I didn't know Tesla had people in Vancouver, very cool! Thanks for checking out my video.
Ah, a fellow Richmondite. Curious to know if Microsoft Vancouver requires or enforces 2 days in the office every week or do you simply prefer flex over full remote work.
Hey fellow Richmonder! I've only been into the office 4 times in half a year, so I'd say no. Depending on your team you may not have anyone to meet at the office.
Cool, I'm not making anything near that and I rent, but tbh money hasn't been an important part of my life. Google is quite cool to work at I'd bet. Thanks for commenting.
@@santoshjaishi3 At least on my team we use C# and Scala for the backend. I'm sure we have some projects somewhere using Java, but in general I don't think it's the first choice anymore.
I agree! I loved living downtown but moved out to Richmond a few years ago. Still enjoy everytime I come into the city. But usually I am happy to leave at the end of the day.
Thanks! I wish I went into the office more often, but 90% of my days are work-from-home. I probably need to do another one of these videos of my day at home.
Awesome! Looks like we made them a day apart. I've been getting Day in the Life recommendations for years now. But tbh I actually really enjoy them and I had a blast making mine. Just checked yours out, very informative. I need to do a WFH edition also as this video was kind of a hybrid but typically I just stay home. Thanks for the comment!
hi sir. i came here from software engineer (NORWAY) video. sir i am commerce student but my intrest is in coding and tech field so i decided to persue BCA : ) . I heared that big MNC's like microsoft, google etc are planning to come in Alberta. am i right or this is a false information?
Hey, I don't have any information to be honest but I can see from their website they have some offices in AB. I know in BC they have hired a lot of people as it's been in the news. I think in general companies are expanding as WFH/Hybrid because the norm. Thanks for checking out my video!
Thanks for the feedback. I've had mixed reviews on it but I enjoy classical also. Next time I make one of these I will have something more chill and flowing with the video.
@@puneetsingh171 As a Canadian I am happy with it. I come from Saskatchewan and BC is a lot nicer. I live in Richmond now though, not Vancouver. I just go there for work sometimes.

Well, learn c# lol

Thanks!
Great video! Very theatrical! I really enjoyed watching it. The MS office is Vancouver looks very cool! Your computer set up/ office room is awesome!
Thanks very much! I may have gone more theatrical than intended, hehe. Thanks about my computer setup, it's my lair.
Came from your comment on the New York Software Engineer Day in the life 😃
Thanks for checking out my video! I am a big fan of these Day in the Life videos and had a lot of fun making this one.
Cool video, seems you spend more time on meetings and travel than writing code, would you say most developer jobs at big companies are like that?

Which product did you work on?
I'm working with Viva Insights at the moment. Front-end specifically.
The code on the screen is flipped??
Was that an easter egg?
Haha that was Windows Video Editor deciding to flip it and Mr just accepting it.
Thank you for the sharing the video..

What programming language do you use for work
I mostly use TypeScript as I am working on front-end code right now. But I sometimes review C# code also.

Yes this is the office above Nordstrom/Pacific Centre.

Ya it's still quite nice. I'm hoping to be able to stay.
are microsoft employees allowed to use macbooks for work
I think some of them are, but I was happy with a Lenovo. I don't think a large amount of devs at the company use Macs.

Hi, do you have a java programmer in your company? Please vlog, it's very interesting for me and my friends 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻please
I'll make sure to blog more this year. Thanks! As for Java at Microsoft, not on my team but for sure somewhere. :-)
