When you want to leave, it is really hard because these companies took control of every facet of your life from food to what gym you go to. It very nice to start just very draining when leaving to a different company. It's feels like you just cut off your arm when you leave, but you know you have to leave because you already burnout, and already lost a leg.

      @@Forrest10 Lol, I've tried working as an Amazon Warehouse Associate turned out to be an overnight stocker to assist with preparation for customer's package when they go out for delivery. It sucks and I quit after the first three days of working there. The first night was mostly training which I went over the exact same thing over the online course training just to be repeated and never got any real work done until the second and third night. And it was brutal just to be able to keep up with performance expectation which I ain't got time for. Working for Amazon Associate is a completely different story then being a developer or software programmer for Amazon.

Of course, we live in Mexico, so yeah...

    Interesting to see how nicely your day is broken up by different activities. In Belgium for instance, most engineers work ~9/5 or some variant of it. Average working hours is 8/day, or more. However, days are more monotonous. Start at 8AM->12:30PM | lunch | 1PM->4/5PM | -> done. Since I start early, I can leave work usually at 4PM which gives me the feeling I have a lot of time left of my day to spend on personal things but often these don't happen as planned or intended. On the other hand, your day ends "late" (to my standards) where I'd feel I have no personal time left, however, you managed to incorporate that personal time (like the gym or walking the dog) during the day/working hours. So almost seems like a win-win, except for family time.

    • @darko_mikic
      @darko_mikic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Exactly, this is ok if you are single, and to have longer working day, included personal activities. But, if you have a family, this is waste of time. Job is job, and private life ( family life ) has to be separate. In reality, 8h of working day, average is 6h of productive hours.

    • @albertobalmeida
      @albertobalmeida 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Here in Brazil is the same thing, 8h/day. I work from 8:30~12:00 | lunch | 13:30~18:00. It's not glamorous as the video, it's just work 8h a day.

    Hey, very nice production value. Do you ever get bored of this kind of a lifestyle? It seems very monotone from the given perspective. I'm asking since I'm studying cs myself and the closer I get to graduating, the harder it is for me to know if I made the right choice. Mainly because I can see the work taking a tall on most of the people in the industry, and mental health is not really my forte at the very moment, considering that I'm not even working yet, I don't know how I could balance things out when I get a job. Add to that the whole pandemic situaton shifting the workspace even further into the online realm, which makes it even more unbearable, I assume. If it's not too personal, how do you cope with it?

    • @alberthbyang

      Hey there, great question! Please don't assume that my everyday is exactly like this video, I would say everyday for me is a bit different, this was just one of the days. Obviously with covid, we're still not back to normal working in the office yet so that would change at some point so should be more people interactions in person as well. For me software engineering is just part of my life, I would suggest find another hobby that you're really passionate about, for me that's photography and cinematography and travel, so I always find doing these things outside of work help me a lot. good luck with graduation and job hunting :)

    This is wild to see and the duality of Amazon employee roles. This seems so chill and relaxed yet productive at the same time, but the warehouse employees and drivers are overworked and underpaid. As a former Amazon employee who worked in a packaging warehouse it was grueling and unbearable. You have insane and unreasonable expectations and time quotas to meet which seems normal for a role like that but once you SEE these quotas and expectations you will understand.

    I am surprised at how much of a work life balance you guys at Amazon seem to have despite the bad reputation and what you hear about the job all the time.. We in Germany do not have at all such a balance, like with home office it is basically 8-9 hours (without counting break) full on hard work. I can almost never do so many breaks because of the heavy workload..

      Yeah I think every tech company could have heavy work load doesn't matter where and it varies from team to team as well🤓

      It depends on the team you’re in. Some have it bad.

      As a electrical engineering student in Taiwan, I have heard that many students graduated from our department are now work in TSMC, Mediatek…etc. Although working in those places could be well paid but the work load may be very heavy and it is impossible to keep work and life balanced. (Working for almost 12 hours a day)Thus, I am now working hard with my proficiency(IC design) and English skill, hoping to work in America or Europe instead of Asia for a work-life balanced job.

      Yeah I suppose I had bad luck with the team being all the time extremely under pressure. So work life balance also is not great for me despite working in Germany..

      @@ytl3388 yeah Asia seems to be even worse I see it in my company as well. But America seems a bit different perhaps from Europe in terms of work life balance or these TH-camrs just show it that positively for the FAANG companies I don’t know but for me work and life is nothing like they show on TH-cam.
