  • Another lovely 12 miles of walking in the Weald, starting in Kent and crossing over into East Sussex.
Over dry water meadows today for lunch at St Michael's and All Angels at Withyham. A pub alternative exists as well.
Then, it's on through 500 Acre Wood to cross a very busy Pooh Bridge (The film, 'Christopher Robin', has recently been released, so this might have been why) and onto the village of Hartfield. Tea can be had here at 'Pooh Corner' (currently up for sale) in Piglet's Tea Room.
The journey back is across more meadows and a short repeat of the earlier walk, past Summerford Farm, and back to the station.
A decent walk, in decent weather, so no issues with mud, which could be a problem after heavy rain.

Thanks Shay. I'm off on another one now, similar area (before it gets too damp!). Keep 'em peeled. ;-)

Very nice video of a very pleasant walk. Thanks. The tall pink flower by the river is Himalayan Balsam. Nice as it is to look at it is extremely invasive and spreads like wildfire, and is regarded as a nuisance along waterways. Conservationists have ‘balsam bashing’ sessions where they pull it up, hopefully before it has a chance to spray its seeds far and wide from its catapult-like seed pods.

Thanks for that Ian. Was aware of the Balsam problem, but unable to recognise the plant. Now I know.
Another foreign invader that needs ejecting; a further issue with 'Globalisation'. ;-)
