Interesting fact about this ost, when the sonic r was in production they only wanted the credits song to be the only one to be vocalized. But the singer loved the soundtrack so much she asked if she could sing the entire ost.
@@KoopaXross no, at the time of production he was busy working on the first sonic 3d game. Regardless if it was sonic x-treme or sonic adventure they needed a game for a holiday so they hired the telltale company to make the sonic game.
Sonic R soundtrack is insane You're racing around tracks as little cartoon characters while the music is telling you the importance of mental health singing about working it out, talking about it and how the sun will come back again one day. Great reactions from all of you, especially the guy with the skull and crossbones hat, bro is having an absolute blast man and has great dance moves!
The club comments were especially funny knowing that Japanese clubs would play remixes of Sonic music apparently. There’s also an official party mix of Sonic music made by Tomoya Ohtani, a Sonic Team composer, that I really recommend checking out. It’s called Sonic the Hedgehog DJ style Party.
Sonic R's soundtrack is the only one I know of that is practically just a single vocalists album in disguise. From what I heard the instrumentals already existed before she decided to do vocal versions which is impressive considering her vocals and the lyrics fit so well.
Not sure if Guilty Gear counts but it's probably worth mentioning as Daisuke both composed the soundtrack and developed the game itself at once for the first Guilty Gear entry
9:28 um so they did... the sonic symphony and symphony world tour is out rn and the online ver. of the symphony is still up on yt! the world tour i believe is US still and branching out to other places but not sure on that
fellow EDM producer: the sound that you guys like that's doing all the arpeggios is the TB-303, the classic "Acid/Rubber" sound that's in a Eurobeat music :)
@tejidotcom Nowadays, jus about every plugin available has some sort of imitation, usually labeled as "Acid" or "303." I see you use FLStudio, which has a dedicated synth called Transistor Bass. In addition to this, its other plugins have imitations: Toxic Biohazard, 3osc, Poizone, Sytrus, FLEX, TS-404 (legacy), Wasp (legacy), WaspXT (legacy). 3rd party plugins that are excellent at making the Acid sound are: Serum, Vita, Sylenth1, Spire. Also, if you're interested, there are entire genres of music that revolve around the Acid/303 sound: AcidHouse, AcidTechno, AcidTrance... and just about every "hard" genre there is. This sound is very prevalent in almost every genre (including pop) if you are just listen for that signature rubber saw or warping hollow square sound~ ;)
Some 90s and early 2000's fighting game music would be great! Some MvC2 and CvS2 always get me moving. Clock tower stage, stormy saxaphone, True love making: bangers all around
This game's soundtrack is definitely gonna need a second part or something for the other three vocal themes; two of those three are my personal favorites and the last one is still up there with the rest of the soundtrack
I would recommend more Sega soundtracks like Super Monkey Ball, Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS into Dreams, Billy Hatcher, House of the Dead, and others
Can You Feel the Sunshine has always been hands down my favorite sonic song LMAO I would sing this on drunk kareoke nights with friends 😂 everyone knows me by it, im so glad yall covered TJ Davis, she has a phenomenal voice. Cooked heavy on Sonic R
I LOVE this OST man. It's actually one of the more underappreciated Sonic soundtracks believe it or not lol. Yo you guys HAVE to listen to the Sonic CD JP soundtrack. The songs are shorter than these, so it'd be awesome if you could listen to the different time versions (Present, Past, Bad Future, Good Future) of some levels. Some of my favs are Palmtree Panic, Quartz Quadrant, Collision Chaos, and Stardust Speedway. Honestly they're all amazing but yall would be there all day if you heard em all, so maybe it'd need a couple parts if the vids are well received 💯💯
this video was so good i loved the tambourine joke "you better not drop that tambourine Michael" the only thing is that you missed diamond in the sky and back in time
It's such a blast seeing folk discover just how powerful and important the music is for the sonic franchise. Genuinely sonic SOUNDS better than most franchises out there.
Such a fun reaction, vibing to a whole 'nother level. You guys should re-visit Sonic R's soundtrack again. Back In Time and Diamonds in the Sky might be the best ones from this amazing OST!
Last song is NOSTALGIC!! Played this game in my friend's house all the time, so this one hits hard. Played Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing all the time at home.
Yall gotta do sonic riders: zero gravity next time i beg y'all, what's interesting is that the races ost got 3 phases with a beat drop every time the phases change.
At first when playing it the songs felt somehow like weird choices for this game but they quickly grew on me and actually suit the tone of some of the levels.
So I have a focus playlist on Spotify, I use when I'm riding my motorcycle and I want to lock in. Three of the songs on it are Can You Feel the Sunshine, Living in the City and Super Sonic Racing. Now the real question is: Is it cause I grew up playing Sonic R? Is the music good? OR Do I find it somewhat ironic to be doing 150+mph while listening to Sonic R music? It could possibly a bit of all 3 tbh.
You guys HAVE to do Sonic CD’s JP soundtrack. Stardust Speedway Bad Future, Sonic Boom, You can Do Anything and Cosmic Eternity are the ones I know but I know the whole JP Ost is SO GOOD
Interesting fact about this ost, when the sonic r was in production they only wanted the credits song to be the only one to be vocalized. But the singer loved the soundtrack so much she asked if she could sing the entire ost.
@@jimmykudo8305 and thank god she did🔥😂
I thought it was the studio that liked her voice and asked her to do the rest of the ost?
Wasn't it Yuji Naka requesting the whole game to be made with her songs?

Can confirm that in fact is still a thing that happens
Sonic R's soundtrack is the only one I know of that is practically just a single vocalists album in disguise. From what I heard the instrumentals already existed before she decided to do vocal versions which is impressive considering her vocals and the lyrics fit so well.
Probably why there's an option to turn off the vocals.
Not sure if Guilty Gear counts but it's probably worth mentioning as Daisuke both composed the soundtrack and developed the game itself at once for the first Guilty Gear entry
Her vocals fit so well, I can’t imagine purely the instrumental being the final version

A soundtrack that’s unironically way better than the game it’s tied to, it’s nuts
The soundtrack is the game. It’s all one thing so if the sound track is good it makes the game overall better as a result.
Sonic composers in a nutshell
