- Produced by Eve Ensler and V-Day, directed by Tony Stroebel, written and produced by Tena Clark with music by Tena Clark and Tim Heintz, and featuring dancer and choreographer Debbie Allen.
"Break the Chain" aims to raise awareness around the world about V-Day's fastest escalating global campaign to date, ONE BILLION RISING. The ONE BILLION RISING campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On 14 February 2013, V-Day's 15th anniversary, activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities and women and men across the world will come together to express their outrage, strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.

"Break the Chain" Lyrics
Lyrics by Tena Clark
Music by Tena Clark/Tim Heintz
Intro-
I raise my arms to the sky
On my knees I pray
I'm not afraid anymore
I will walk through that door
Walk, dance, rise
Walk, dance, rise
I can see a world where we all live
Safe and free from all oppression
No more rape or incest, or abuse
Women are not a possession
You've never owned me, don't even know me I'm not invisible, I'm simply wonderful I feel my heart for the first time racing I feel alive, I feel so amazing
I dance cause I love
Dance cause I dream
Dance cause I've had enough
Dance to stop the screams
Dance to break the rules
Dance to stop the pain
Dance to turn it upside down
Its time to break the chain, oh yeah
Break the Chain
Dance, rise
Dance, rise
In the middle of this madness, we will stand I know there is a better world Take your sisters & your brothers by the hand Reach out to every woman & girl
This is my body, my body's holy
No more excuses, no more abuses
We are mothers, we are teachers,
We are beautiful, beautiful creatures
I dance cause I love
Dance cause I dream
Dance cause I've had enough
Dance to stop the screams
Dance to break the rules
Dance to stop the pain
Dance to turn it upside down
It's time to break the chain, oh yeah
Break the Chain, oh yeah
Break the Chain
Dance Break Inst.
Dance, rise
Dance, rise
Sister won't you help me, sister won't you rise x4
Dance, rise
Dance, rise
Sister won't you help me, sister won't you rise x4
This is my body, my body's holy
No more excuses, no more abuses
We are mothers, we are teachers,
We are beautiful, beautiful creatures
I dance cause I love
Dance cause I dream
Dance cause I've had enough
Dance to stop the screams
Dance to break the rules
Dance to stop the pain
Dance to turn it upside down
Its time to break the chain, oh yeah
Break the Chain, oh yeah
Break the Chain
(Repeat chorus) - เพลง
I still remember I danced to this song on Women's Day (Also my birthday 😊) at a Stadium when I was 8 . It was so amazing! Now I'm 15 and this is still imprinted on my heart
Carry this in your heart always!! 😊
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE.
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST OUR SCHOOL? Our school made a dance to it and we did it almost every day for like 6 years
Hugging youuuuuuuuuuuuu
@@user-pu7nk3kj7k wow that's so amazing 😭
9 years later and this song is still POWERFUL. We need to come together as women and really support one another-- more than ever!
who is still dancing and listening in 2023???
Yep, I love it
Dancing next week ✌️🥰
Still dancing, rising and representing in 2024!
We are supposed to dance this 😭
Me but un 2024
Everytime I hear this song I cry and have goose bumps. It's probably the most powerful song I've ever heard. It's so important to speak about womes's rights in every place on the Earth!
I absolutely agree on that’💯🥳👏🏻👏🏻🥳🎉🎊😻🙌🏻
A very mediocre song. Sorry but it kind of sucks. Goosebumps? LOL I did not get that. "We are mothers... blah blah blah. Same age old nonsense. Break the chain." Of what? Define what chains you're breaking. Singing and dancing about something is not the same as fighting and dying for something. Maybe it makes you comfortable.
@@WDYWB ... Break the chain of violence towards women, which can be physical violence or psychological violence in the form of demeaning words like "same old nonsense."
Even though I’m Not a female. I actually Love this song! As a gay autistic black man, I feel this song is more than just a feminist song. It encourages to treat everyone with respect that they truly deserve despite their differences. I feel the world would be a better place with more female leaders. Look at Russia for example. Imagine if they had a female ruling that country. I never heard of a female leader starting a war…. This song is very inspirational.

I'd like to remember and dance^^ I want Break the chain !!I'm free!! I'd like to change!!
+longi fee Yes.I can stay strong!! Lyrics of this song is a cry of we soul.

I'm literally in tears now after watching this. There is such power, such joy, such strength in this message. Thank you.
Wonderful song and message! A couple of friends and I will also be dancing on Feb. 14th with different organizations and agencies in front of the City Hall in La Crosse Wisconsin! Power and Equality to all!! Stay strong sisters and brothers!
We are all UNITED no matter how far away we may be. Today, we danced together!
This song makes me cry even though I have never experienced sexism or even abuse.
Wonderful music and essential message: women of the world rise in all your glory and beauty, show your powerful feminine energy Let the caring feminine hands heal the world's wounds from excessive masculine greed, which has lead to global crises of war and violence, inequality and poverty, human rights abuses and destruction of mother nature. The main victims from this patriarchal domination are women, children, indigenous people and nature. The feminine energy of healing is immensely powerful; When it is added to our world it can and it surely will create dynamic tension with the masculine energy and thus recreate global balance leading to social and environmental harmony.
This brought tears to my eyes! A brilliant way to highlight abuse everywhere. Stay strong ladies!
Same thing happens to me. Everytime I watch this I get so energized and enthusiastic and then I start crying. Powerful, powerful video! I just love the voices, the moves, the syncronicity of the whole message.
So inspiring lyrics. Glad my organisation are working to stand together with all the women around my country Papua New Guinea to break the chain...How powerful this song is.
goosebumps and tears. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I am standing.. I AM RISING. Let's shine light on the world.. the GODDESS'S are RISING!!!

Anjali Jangra hi can l ask u question?
I listened to “break the chain” at school
My teachers wants that we learn it
You should go on with it . It's pretty fun and energizing. We are learning it too and I spent 1 hr of practise to perfect this dance routine .
This is our song, its perfect for women because we are amazing and we need to be treated with respect.
I'd wish we'd live in a world where every woman could sing this song and could dance freely...
Sadly it's still quite a long way..
So let's sing and dance together. For everyone who can and especially for the one who can't.
we all men must take care of the women! Greetings from Egyptian boy 17 years old.
Especially the ones in utero.
What a beautiful song
Beautiful. I hope that someone will add captions so that this wonderful message can reach even more folks.
This is beautiful. It's been on repeat for how many ever days at my house. I've been apart of VDay whenever it has been in my town, and the past two years it hasn't been here (including the year) and I'm sad. I'd love to do this song as a flash mob!!
Let us break all chains!
Awesome! Beautiful! This brings hope to every female in the world. Don't ever doubt the power of the message in your song. It's time to break the chain......and some people are not going to like it. Don't give any time to the haters and the ignorant. The divine feminine is alive and well.
Every one of you is BEAUTIFUL!
I can't do anything but feel the energy in this song!!!
so proud of my little sister at 1:57 :) My full (male) support to the cause. Great stuff, keep it up guys!

Friday, October 5, 2018. I heard this song & watched this video, for the first time. WOW!!! :))))))))))))
If the world, male-chauvinistic as it is could get the message put across and embrace it, da world could be an 'earthly paradise'.
Investing in Women is creating a brighter future for our Mother Earth!!!
I just stumbled upon this and found it pretty well done, perky, happy, inspiring , energizing.
Inspirational, Awesome . This should circulated world wide . Thank you .

I cannot get to the nearest Rising and have some physical difficulties doing the dance (dodgy leg!) but I have put the track on and danced in the office, knowing that there are women all around the world doing this. I am writing with tears of gratitude, compassion and solidarity running down my face. Thank you Eve, once again.

Oh my sweet sisters with your energy and glory, it's your world now, and your story.

Just wonderful song, inspiring lyrics giving power & strength to women. Ladies don't let anyone abuse you as you are precious creatures & no person should ever be attacked physically, verbally, emotional/mentally. Stay strong always.....find someone to talk to !!
This is awesome and admirable!! I absolutely love the message of this campaign. It's time for us women to step up and show the world how powerful is our voice!!! I wish famous artists would promote ideas like this instead of constantly degrade woman on the media.
Anyway... good job!

There ARE positive GOOD teenagers out there, &ones who are willing to make a difference, and BE the change. I am proud to say I am one of them, as well as one of many who demand respect & a BASIC right to be able to be comfortable in our bodies as we walk amongst the Earth. Yes! This was a hugely powerful experience for me, flash dancing with a whole crowd of women, in Down town Kalamazoo, MI. I put my heart, mind and soul into it. All of us together, dancing to end Human trafficking and sexual abuse, meant so much. It gave me full body angel bumps, was unforgettable.
