    Great videos. Did some testing myself. Will just like to add that the lvl 10 class attribute, Unleash Hell, seem to give one extra ammo fired per stress level. Combined with trauma pyrophobia, gives 45 stress per use of flamethrower. And get the three stress debuffs that don't reduce accuracy. Then you have a gunner with 75% more dps.

    small detail in favor of wide clip - the smart gun has a 4 bullet burst while most guns have a 2 bullet burst - which means gunner actually reloads sooner. wide clip would balance that by making the smart gun have roughly twice the bullets of a normal gun.

    Imagine that your Gunner is in Level 6, with Bonebreaker Attributes, there's no need to have a Tripod Upgrade, only Aiming Sight, Wider Clip, Pouches, Ammo Bag and High Impact Rounds. Combined with Level 3 Deadeye and Quickhand Perk, your Gunner equipped with Rifles that has a higher Dismemberment and Critical Chance than a Smartgun, your Gunner will become a true Heavy Hitter.

      I think the number of rounds going down range with the smartgun gives more total dismemberment than the heavy pulse rifle simply because of the volume of fire.

      But still, it'll be nice to experiment one of the Level 6 Gunners on Mission, equipped with Heavy Pulse Rifle that has 0.6% chance of dismemberment. With Bonebreaker and Level 3 Deadeye Perk with Heavy Pulse Rifle, and using a Calculator, Means that 1.6 + 39% = 2.224% Chance. But with Smartgun, means 1.3 + 39% = 1.807% chance. But with Pulse Rifle and Plasma Rifle, means 1.5 + 39% = 2.085% chance.
      Also, as for the Reload Time, Heavy Pulse Rifle is 4 Seconds, while M56 Smartgun is 5 Seconds so, in order to increase the Reload Time, the Quickhand Perk will reload both Primary and Secondary Weapons in 50%. Means you can reload less than 2 and 2.5 seconds.

    I always put wider clip, Enhanced tracking system, and aiming sighs first. Gunners with those perks and some micro and they are almost invincible.

    my GO TO squad build for SHTF in A:D.D. when you know youre going to have a fight on your hands 3-4(depending on what apc you have) Smartguns + 1 medic + 4-5 Sentry guns, medic is just an extra hand to drive power loaders and pick up and revive marines that do happen to get knocked down/unconscious. i call it the Death Squad LUL

      I do blame them for not following the squad at times. Happened to me recently where I was missing one of my guys, turns out he was just standing in one particular spot and getting mauled by an xeno without fighting back.

    I would switch out m56 act for mag size its better for dps if the gunner is shoting with the smartgun then deploy be stationary and get it back then

    The turret I think is useful, but the least useful of its abilities. The smartgun has less ammo, less damage, and a smaller firing arc than a normal turret. Now early when you dont have many turrets, that helps. But the other problem with the turret, it costs a command point. The turrets place and pack for free. prepping for a big fight, an extra gun is an extra gun. I just wish maybe the smart gun turret was 360 degree firing arc, that would increase its utility greatly. But I otherwise am always using my command points for other things like mines in big fight prep, and flame thrower and grenades in the fight. I just end up leaving the turret aside typically because of those reasons. Again, when you need the extra gun, its amazing like the drone. but those commands points are so important and I hate waiting for them. Now Dead Eye is also a BIG deal skill. I never pick accuracy with him since he can focus fire for a acc boost. Also, the sub machinegun works great with a gunner for suppression btw. so still viable with him especially with the stress fire rate boost, it reloads fast and puts out pain. coupled with the Dead Eye skill, he slows, then dismembers, the anything is just dead.

      The Gunner can be a real blender, but you have to build 'em up to be optimal. Don't underestimate what good Common picks can do for you.

    Is the heavy Pulse Rifle worth unlocking for 200 materials? Except for the somewhat higher dismemberment chance and slightly larger clip, it doesn't seem to be much of an uprqade to the regular Pulse Rifle...minus the grenade launcher. I'm on mission 3 now and very short on supplies, so I am unsure if getting it as quickly as possible is a good decision.

      i have always 1 (medic or the tecker) with 1 to get dps up loading grenades takes no time so 1 gun with launcher is enough

      Steahlt and use of the classes is all u need sry and lots of motion trackers cleared the first mission without enemy contact(only scripted encounters) but it gets harder lol

    I would leave the turret skill. Doing so means the the high fire rate to stress is made moot. I would rather have the gunner with quick hands as well as the smart gun takes longer to load. Also with 5 marines having a second gunner helps with onslaught and crowd control.

    Based on simple math you have to look both at comparable dps (I did per 3 sec dps for each wpn), but.. you have to understand how critical / dismember works to understand which weapon is the best. Good point is is that M56 is the highest dps primary in the game. But even first M41A rifle is great all rounder WITH a grenade launcher. Which is exceptionally good against clearing eggs and some additional damage / disruption for groups of enemies.

      I'm not underplaying the Pulse at all. It's great and bring a unique Ability to the table. The Smartie fills another role. There's viability in versatility.

    Additional comment now that I watched through all video and would like to comment on your points Fioth + some general thoughts, too.
    The turret holder might be good +dps in tough spots. +20% ammo is noticeable for gunner, but again it's a preference and difficulty choice.
    RPG - big no no. Why? You have to deploy it during a fight, and during a fight stopping dps on the highest dps ranged class is counterproductive. RPG => tech/med/sarge. As any of those three can easily rotate with flamer/shotgun/rpg. Obviously recon has to have sniper rifle for anyone else reading this :)
    It's exactly the mine that fits gunner the best. Because it never disables gunners dps as you deploy them during non-fight sequences. Worked perfectly for me.
    General info otherwise - pouches will be first anyways (most likely, unless you get level 3 in first mission and class right away, which is easy to do kinda even on nightmare, and choose something else but still have 3 slots then). High impact rounds - must. Tracking system is good for additional dps on harder single targets (warr, charger, pret, queen, etc), otherwise enemies die quickly enough if you do everything right and you don't have time to pinpoint each one all the time (happens but not that often). So yeah, aiming might be the best option as third/fourth upgrade, unless you play with high hp enemies and additional dps is really necessary in chokes.
    Common attributes can be super good or super shit unfortunately... just as you said, taking the dismemberment and aim is great. Unbreakable Will (the fatigue one I think is this one) is just KING of attributes. Nothing is better than that, not even redemption. You can abuse this with training as marines with UW don't get tired. Put them at the end of the day to train, next day - take out and go on mission :) Maybe they will fix it, not sure.

    Shoot, that extra armor and health is vital. My gunner ALWAYS gets attacked the most.

      The perk that reduces damage to one per hit rathe than two is better. Doubles the overall damage you can take and means more hits before the marine is heavily wounded.

    I found out that the heavy gunner works best against human opponents, cultist and even androids. Speaking of Androids, there's hints that the Terminator, Predator and Aliens shared the same universe.

    I don't believe the Gunner can use High-impact Rounds while the M56 is being used as a Sentry Gun. But yeah - no one rocks like a Gunner! =)

      Just load a save before you return to the Otago. If you are playing "No One Can Hear You Scream", it's a pain in the ass though.

      when you go back to the otago the game saves. you roll by reloading the last save when you get bad rolls

    Watched a YT short about the M56 ACT upgrade, its basically pointless. Not worth it as it isnt any better than a regular sentry and your gunner now has a secondary weapon, wider clip is the better choice imo without question.

      @Mista_FiOth is the SMG really good enough? I think I'm currently on the last Misson but for the last like 5 Missons I've had max sentry guns to put down every lvl and there's been extras on the map too, never short on sentries. I think this is why having my smart gun with wider clip just seems a solid simpler choice rather than having an extra sentryish gun that I keep having to place that's not really needed and then a secondary SMG. Plus the ammo to kill ratio doesn't seem great for the M56 ACT compared to normal sentry.

      If the stat upgrades disme and the rounds are on the smartgun when deployed and stay the maybe ... but i thing the upgraded sentry is better and the time to deploy the smartgun is a dps drop

      (Swap Tecker and Gunner if you already have all the encrypted doors open or if you have atleast one Smart Ass in the squad.)
      Honestly there is no "bad" class just medic being subpar and it would be nice if they warned you before taking a class that it would invalidate a perk you already have...

      @@TheSonsofSigmar when im not in a fight(most of the time)the regen is good enough to deploy motion trackers . I use all 5 classes in 2 teams with all weapons the only thing i dont care are the pistols and the deploy smartgun skill.when the medic gets a stress upgrade he will become more usefull but he is not worthless.

      @saschaschuchmann794 I would agree that a full team is probably the best loadout by subpar I meant that the medic feels slightly less impactful probably due to a lack of DIRECT combat aids. Still useful but something like stim skill would mean they are more useful in a fight rather than between fights. Though I would love a Medic skill to allow them to carry downed personnel at a reduced penalty.
