It's important to highlight the double standard of the distinction but it's also valuable to be able to measure the disparity between migrants who arrive from wealthier countries and those that don't.

Immigrants is a term given by the English and Americans to the foreign people who were arriving to those Western countries. The term expats also originated in those two western countries, the difference is that term is given to themselves, hence its complimentary and exclusive. Human nature, regardless where we from and what our race is, people tend to focus more on their own interests, rather then to compliment foreign people. I agree with you, whenever i hear Brots, Americans, Canadians or Austrialisn saying they're expats, they arecusually are sharing their experience of fancy dining on tje scrumpcious foreign cusine they are testing and savoring, but hene the same people mention the word immigrants in the same situation the vision of the poor migrants necessey dayily calories intake to sustain their wreched existance comes to mind. And im saying that as a white person who hqppened to be from less wealthy nation pf Poland, so were called immigrants, but i get your point, when i talk to American people they tend to speak with patronizing tone thinking that i ahould be happy when yhey talk about me with an approving tone aboit me, and they are often suprised i have my opinions, likes and dislikes. Again its the human nature, im sure when we would come to your c0untry people feel confident being in ypur own sphere, thats why you ate angryxwjen the westerners dont share your favourable feeleings about yourself. I rhink we need to get over it, what other people thing ubout us calling us,immigrant tjey have a,right to call themselves whyever they wish, its just an english langiage so it doesnt necessary represents all world culture ,equaly. Thick doesnt stip us ' immigrants' from living our lives to the urmost enjoyment and fullfilment. I would like to meet an expat and let her or him br ambarased aboit stereotypes theu had about me, while they can see im living my life, enjoying it on the same or higher level then they 'the expats' do.
