Part 1 of my photography vlogs from Antarctica is now live if you want to see more of the behind the scenes of the photos I took! Watch it here: th-cam.com/video/aN6RJcR1nsA/w-d-xo.html
Excellent video. My wife and I just watched it together and I think this may be my favorite one yet. I love it when you lightly combine tutorials with travel videos. Also, your positive vibes and kind energy always delight. Thank you for your channel.
Thank you dear Julia for your always wonderfully eye-opening videos! As for additional TH-cam videos or vlog content suggestions, I for one would love a detailed tutorial that focuses on preparing other photographers who would like to visit this perhaps last of the world’s pristine places. What equipment, accessories, filters, lenses, etc., as well as the challenges in changing lenses and filters in a cold, occasionally very wet…salt water, no less, and windy environment…and when constrained by heavy clothing and gloves. What works and what doesn’t work well? And if you were to return, what would you do differently? You have aroused strong interest in many thousands of amateur…and very amateur photographers to visit Antarctica, how might you prepare them so that they might not only enjoy a fascinating and beautiful place, but return with some wonderful images as well? . Many thanks! Will
I just got back from a Polar Latitudes cruise last weekend. I was on the MS Seaventure and after seeing your footage it was definitely a step down from what you experienced. I understand that after its next cruise it’s going into dry dock for a refit. Thanks for sharing your trip!
I’ve been seeing so many cool videos about Antarctica cruises lately, it’s officially going on my bucket list. Those shots look so beautiful, I can’t wait to watch the photography vlogs!💗
Perfect timing with the video! My dad and his partner finished they're trip to Antarctica yesterday! 😊 Gives me a better understanding of what they experienced and watched it looked like there. Thanks Julia. 👍😁
Hi from Seabourn Venture ❤️ I just started following you and you uploaded this video... I went crazy. We work on this ship, and this is our 3rd cruise in Antarctica. I just saw your test videos about the Sony a7 IV and a7 CII because I’m about to buy new gear. Loved to see you visiting this incredible place!
Omg, this might have been my fav. video of yours and I have been a subscriber for years! I have always dreamed of visiting Antarctica, so this video was quite helpful. Of course, gorgeous photos of the birds and the whales! ❤
For a second I thought you went to Antarctica a second time, but then I saw myself in the background of some of your clips! Thanks for reminding me of the awesome memories! I definitely want to go back.
This was totally amazing Julia. Love all the photos, video and commentary. I would love to take a trip to Antarctica after watching this. Thanks so much for sharing.🥰
Amazing footage. Very nicely put together. It looks like so much fun. I think i need to buy that Aspen preset pack - the stills were great as always. Were there any forbidden areas that you couldn't travel to per all the conspiracy theories that there's an ice wall protecting alien spaceships? 😂
Thank you so much! Hahah I didn't get to see any aliens while I was there unfortunately! At every landing they do set up some little orange flags to let you know where you can and can't go which I think it great to help protect as much of the land as possible. So we can't just be wandering around everywhere, only a specific area.
Hi Julia, this is awesome and Antartica has surely climbed up in my bucket list. A question… note that you have shot most of the stills in high shutter speed. Can you please share the camera settings that you normally use in such scenarios. Thank you!
Thank you and you should definitely go! I will cover the shutter speed/camera settings topic in my 1st vlog from here which I will upload next week! There will be a lot more photos in that video 😊
@@juliatrotti Me too :D Hopefully one day, or you'll take me next time! What did you use for vlogging on the zodiacs and the boat? It looked very nice and stable
Ahh you got to meet Courtney Victoria! She’s one of my other favorite photographers. She made an Antarctica video a while ago, this must be her second trip there
Please, talk about 1) cameras and lenses you use for this trip to Antartica?, 2) how much time of your trip and price (USD$). 3) how much time they give you in land to walk and take pictures.? Thanks Julia, 🙏🏻
Hey Julia.. this is amazing!! How different was it to shoot in an almost all white space as opposed to the usual green-blue space.. ? What was your experience about it?
Julia what kind of equipment do I need for a trip like yours in Antarctica? I have Canon 90D EOS DSLR and Canon 70-200mm plus Canon Efs 18-135 mm lens?
I was using full frame 140-400mm more than any other focal range during my trip (I did this with the 70-200 and 2x teleconverter). I would recommend around 400mm is great for long shots, but make sure you have the ability to be versatile too, I also took some landscapes with 35mm and some penguin shots on my 70-200 because they can come up quite close to you
That was an amazing location:) Wow, thank you for sharing! What lenses did you use? 70-200 GMII with 2xconverter? And more..? I am asking because I am going to Namibia in September on a phototrip and I don't know how much I can bear:)
Thanks so much! I found I used the 70-200GMII and 2xTC the MOST while I was there and I am happy with the results. I just uploaded my first photography related vlog from Antarctica if you want to see the 100% crop unedited photos so you can get an idea of the quality. I have 2 more vlogs afterwards too with more photos and lens combinations to look at, I will upload them in the coming weeks. A lot of people were also using the 100-400, but as a portrait photographer there is no real reason to have that in my kit so I went with the 2x TC instead!

Amazing ! Nice trip !
Incredible stuff!
Not him trying to get on the ship 😂😂
He wanted to come back to Australia with me lol
Very nice job!
Thank you!
Curious. On the excursions, what's the bathroom situation😆😵 like emergencies
You can't go anywhere in Antarctica, so you need to hop onto the zodiac and they will take you back to the ship!
Julia which video is 1-2-3 in order?
wow, what a place!! those animals there living a peaceful life. did you also go to buenos aires this time?
I was only in BA for an overnight layover this time. I went with my dad a few years back though and I have those vlogs buried in my channel somewhere!
i have seen those vlogs, that's why i asked. buenos aires is a magnificent city@@juliatrotti
The penguins are so cute!
You didn't say "Hey Everyone" 😄 You wore a lot of clothing. What was the actual outside temperature?
The lens is 70-200 with 1.4x?
Were you able to find Santa Claus and Reindeers home? I have yet to still find it 😌 Thank you for sharing this experience 👍
