15 is the legal age of consent in many western countries, buddy. It's not weird to call a teen a young adult. The "young adult" book genre is for ages 12-18.
23 is a kid - are you winding me up - I was a mother wife full time employee with a mortgage at 23yrs of age - ffs - this is the problem with the world today - kid at 23 ffs
It's not a feeling, it's actuality! The judicial system protects officers and officers protect each other. Thankfully the officers in this case did not cover for this guy and that they did a thorough search.
When my father passed I was ten, and my sister was 16. I remember only one guy mom dated until I became an adult. My mom owns our house, he has his own apartment. My sister and I really looked up to him. When I was 16 I asked my mom “why don’t you marry him?” We knew she loves him. She said she didn’t want to move a man in on her girls. She said this house is mine, and yours, and your sister’s, and someday my grandkids. If I were to get married then half of my house would become his.❤ “what a woman”

There’s quite a few incidents involving police officers killing or attempting to kill their families in the recent years. I know in some jurisdictions, they call the FBI or a another organization to investigate. There’s documentation in the recent years because of the media but they need to start taking this shit seriously.
I knew a Sheriff who beat his stepdaughter terribly and bare naked when budding teenager. They do this very often I believe but are protected and covered by their fellow workers
The step father that killed his stepson happened 10 min from my house. It 10000% shook our community. The parents definitely fought and he killed her son as revenge. Disgusting.
Lesson learned from this - If your partner starts taking the control you have away from you eg. car keys, phone, friendships - it's time to leave the relationship.
There is something deeply wrong with anyone willing to take the life of another human, and expect to do so with impunity. Society has devolved, and good mental health has fallen by the wayside.

It’s hours later and it’s STILL bothering me that that innocent 15 yr old was referred to as a “young adult.” I’m the last to assume racism but when the white 23 yr old was classified as still being “a KID,” it REALLY RUBS ME THE WRONG WAY. I don’t think I can ever watch this podcast again without seeing this host as racist. And I don’t think she means to be. At all. Which in some ways makes it even more sad.
The case involving the murder of the 15 year old stepson by his former Marine soldier/Baltimore police officer stepfather is heartbreaking. When is law enforcement going to be held accountable for misdeeds & viewed as people like everyone else in the eyes of the law? When facing charges, restraining orders etc, they are not above the law. This tragedy should never have happened. I can't begin to imagine the heartfelt deep pain the mother & loved ones are feeling at the loss of this beautiful child. There's no punishment severe enough for the murderous stepfather to face. The last face the stepson saw was that of his stepfather, someone who was supposed to love & protect him. I'm sickened by these actions. May this child rest in peace & his loved ones get justice, if there is such a thing in this case & the many others like it.
15 years old = child 23 years old = young man/ adult Just in case some of the wonderful people and crime watch needed the clarification. Another interesting fact is, this is true for black, and even white people.
Oh happy day bc Anna has a new podcast! These are the best. So sad for all victims and the families of those murdered. I can't wrap by head or my heart around these monsters so I just pray!!! Seems I do alot more lately 😕. Thank you Anna Garcia 🙏
Restraining orders need to be reformed. Most often it's intimidating and scary to even go to a courthouse to fill out the paperwork for a restraining order. If the petitioner is a no show for a hearing that's a red flag. An officer should at least check up on the victim in their place of work or if possible somewhere outside of any shared residence with the abuser. When a restraining order is granted it still doesn't stop the perpetrator. In so many cases it just makes more sense to give victims a new start like the witness protection program. So many abusers are crazy and literally will not stop.
In Canada, a Judge grants a restraining order on the victim’s behalf. No one is required in court. The Order is signed from the Judge’s chamber. Safety for the victim… Also, the police press charges against the perpetrator, not the victim. The charges cannot be revoked by a victim’s “change of heart” or from being pressured by the perpetrator. The Crown Attorney represents the victim and advocates on her behalf. 🇨🇦
I absolutely adore my parents even though we've been through some very rough parts of life and I would never think about doing this and the fact that he went as far as to dismember his father and hide his mother's body so well that she still isn't found is so appalling to me
My neighbor was killed 7/17/2021 by an off duty local cop that was driving drunk, evading the on duty officers that he worked with. He had 3 passengers including his bartender girlfriend. The officer was doing 96 mph per the state patrol. He crossed the center line and hit my neighbor, 28 year old husband and father, head on. Both drivers dead at the scene. Girlfriend was thrown from the car. Broke the laws and the oath he took to protect.
Thank you for your content. I really like this podcast and look forward to it every week. Not the crimes per say; but the thinking behind why, who and the techniques of those who catch and prosecute these crimes.
Sometimes when a victim knows they’re in the tension phase, they will intentionally set off the abuser, get through the abuse, so they can get to the honeymoon phase much faster.

15 is the legal age of consent in many western countries, buddy. It's not weird to call a teen a young adult. The "young adult" book genre is for ages 12-18.
Is he black? Because if so, non black always adultify black children.
@@Mezaph Nasty arse adult law makers exploiting minors is what it is. There is no way that a 12 year old is a young adult IMO.
This Baltimore story is kinda local for me. Many of us wish they'd put him in Gen Pop & let them deal with him.
Best. Idea. Ever
Exactly!
I can't imagine what the boy did that would cost him his life
Probably encouraged his mom to leave . Cop probably found text.
Absolutely nothing he didn't cause his death his step farther did
Nothing....it was revenge on his wife!
Fabi Williams that young man did nothing he was killed to hurt the mother
Nothing but be the child /baby of a woman woman in whom this degenerated soul no longer have control over. Nothing warren this egerious act.
Im sorry but if mom was sooo worried for Both her and her sons life? Why in the hell would you leave your child behind alone with this man ??
He was probably trying to protect his mother
Yes
23 is a kid - are you winding me up - I was a mother wife full time employee with a mortgage at 23yrs of age - ffs - this is the problem with the world today - kid at 23 ffs
I agree!!! 23 is not a kid!!
It's not a feeling, it's actuality! The judicial system protects officers and officers protect each other. Thankfully the officers in this case did not cover for this guy and that they did a thorough search.
They probably did not like him. Knew what he was capable of.
This is once in lifetime. Kudos to them
When my father passed I was ten, and my sister was 16.
Not in any way implying that one life is more valuable than another - I just want to point out how amazing of a young human being the step son appeared to be...I just got the vibe that he had a beautiful soul and gifted mind. Such a shame and tragedy 😔 this cop POS needs life NO CHANCE OF PAROLE, 23 hr a day ISOLATION
Yes I agree.
I agree! He had a life ahead of him and the stepdad had to ruin that just because he can't deal with rejection
And well the POS step father knew when he was squeezing the life out of him.
yes, me too, i just feel he was a good boy. :(
He was definitely a sweet soul ♥️
He’s a grown ass man. He’s no boy … smh.
Not victim blaming. But stop leaving your kids w abusive partners!!
23 IS NOT A KID !
Ugh 😩 why do these people kill ? Why not walk away ? This isn’t the 1900s … you can’t get away with murder, it’s 2021 …. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us all 🙏
May god rest his soul 🥲🙏
You’re seriously asking that question? I’m guessing you’ve been living under a rock.
Because this world is a disgusting, crazy place. People are losing their minds.
To some people it’s worth getting caught and spending life in jail if it means taking the life of another or others
@@taylorellison2719 I think it’s a fair and justified question to ask

Agreed.
I like the defense attorney thats on alot
Great chemistry and balance between the 2 of you. Would love to see you together again.
Of course there is no research on police family violence. It should be researched and reported so we can see.
It’s a shame
There’s quite a few incidents involving police officers killing or attempting to kill their families in the recent years. I know in some jurisdictions, they call the FBI or a another organization to investigate. There’s documentation in the recent years because of the media but they need to start taking this shit seriously.
4x higher in police families, based on self-reporting from the police themselves. I suspect it's a lot higher.
Why is this woman calling this 23 year old dude who killed his parents a kid. Weird...
There is something deeply wrong with anyone willing to take the life of another human, and expect to do so with impunity. Society has devolved, and good mental health has fallen by the wayside.
Dr. Nicky Ali Jackson, Ph.D .... She is absolutely amazing!!!
Immediately after watching this podcast I reached out to Dr. Jackson. Eight months ago my daughter was murdered by her police officer boyfriend. Dr. Jackson’s compassion, knowledge and expertise in the field of Domestic Violence helps people like myself who have no experience with such unimaginable horrific events until it happened to our family. Justice for BRITTANY RHEA PHILLIPS!!!
Brittany Rhea Phillips
To get to her he did this to her son! So so sad! Absolutely disgusting
But how does one have a child custody dispute with the STEP-dad? Excuse me but I'll be leaving with all the children I came in this relationship with. Wtf? SN: Curious to what made the police search the attic crawl space of one of their brothers.
He was Black that's why they searched so thoroughly
@@lilyxo6914 that doesn't even make sense 🙄
@@pocketlinttreasures33 Do you have problems with reading comprehension?
@@lilyxo6914 no but apparently you do...
I wonder if the step-father had legally adopted him at some point...
WHY would you call a 15 year old dead black child a young man, and a 23 year old white killer a kid? It's 2021 and we're still doing this?
My deepest condolences for the family and friends of Dasan “DJ” Jones.
Hi Ana, These stories are so consuming. Sometimes I just can't even believe what I'm hearing. This poor kid must have been absolutely terrified. And I HATE (& thats a strong word) how this monster thinks poor me choke me... no way that would be too easy. He deserves to be man handled by the other prisoners they way he did this young man.
**Also thank you to the co-host for helping with this
It can be a lot to process- but we must tell these stories !!
@@AnaGNews so very true. With out living right near the tragedy sometimes you never even hear of it. And with that being said something can happen a town over and again you never hear of it. My heart just aches for these family. Thank you for all of your dedication and hard work bri ging such senseless tragedy to light. 💜
Domestic violence in relationships, where one is in LEO, is high. They may know about ‘normal dv victim shelters’ but that’s a huge reason why we have ‘underground dv victim shelters and transportation’
Crazy!! My dead abuser was a Leo!!!!
15 y.o is still a child, not "a young adult". What a horrible tragedy and a waste of a beautiful life. 😭💔
This show should be a award winning show!
Such a consistent prolific presentation.
After all this Covid-19 story is over and we can get back to work full time I would love to see Ana keep this current format, i love seeing Ana doing the show from home with the guests via webcam..it works and i love It
Hi Ana 👋 sending love from England 🏴🇺🇲
I luv the old version where were hearing from victim side and suspect.
Yea this was messed up , the stepdad who murdered his step son happened near me smh . Im from maryland and when i heard about this i was so angry smh . Its just sad and upsetting and absolutley tragic .
You see how a man can be dangerous and you leave your child with him the mother should have had him wherever she was
I agree ! When I left my children went with me !!
Ms. Garcia, best commentator/interviewer/host ever! Love listening to your work while I'm working. 😁 Thanks for making a hard day's work much more enjoyable.
I’m happy the mom called the police instead of going in to look for him because this could easily be a double murder or murder suicide
RIP Young man 😪 pray for peace and strength for his mother 🕊❤🙏
Some people just have too much anger to the point of killing someone else.
Dr. Jackson is a welcome addition to the rotation of guests! Informative and engaging! She can return at anytime!
R.I.P
What an innocent victim!
I cannot imagine what he went through that day. Our system failed for him.
So so sorry.
This podcast reminds me of conversations with my mum.. it’s hard to get a word in edgewise 🤭🤣
Same! 🤣🤣
It’s hours later and it’s STILL bothering me that that innocent 15 yr old was referred to as a “young adult.”
I’m the last to assume racism but when the white 23 yr old was classified as still being “a KID,” it REALLY RUBS ME THE WRONG WAY. I don’t think I can ever watch this podcast again without seeing this host as racist. And I don’t think she means to be. At all. Which in some ways makes it even more sad.
Could a victim of domestic violence household with a police/official member report it to a neighboring department?
Sadly orders of protection are not worth the paper it is written on.
The restraining order is just a piece of paper. It wouldn’t have stopped this from happening if his mind was set.
This is abuse 101.
Thanks for another wonderful informative episode 👍💓!!!
Mom should have taken him with her.
@@terrymoore8138 so you're blaming mom instead of the murderer. Carry on karen.

Just in case some of the wonderful people and crime watch needed the clarification. Another interesting fact is, this is true for black, and even white people.
I gotta say, this is a real good channel
Oh happy day bc Anna has a new podcast! These are the best. So sad for all victims and the families of those murdered. I can't wrap by head or my heart around these monsters so I just pray!!! Seems I do alot more lately 😕. Thank you Anna Garcia 🙏
Hi Ana!!!!! You're the best!!!! Have a fantabulous weekend, beautiful!! Much love from Ohio! Xoxo
Crack down on the bad cops so we can trust the good ones.
I absolutely adore my parents even though we've been through some very rough parts of life and I would never think about doing this and the fact that he went as far as to dismember his father and hide his mother's body so well that she still isn't found is so appalling to me
GOD bless this family!!! Please GOD give this family Strength!
I wonder why the boy was in the house with his stepdad ?
My neighbor was killed 7/17/2021 by an off duty local cop that was driving drunk, evading the on duty officers that he worked with. He had 3 passengers including his bartender girlfriend. The officer was doing 96 mph per the state patrol. He crossed the center line and hit my neighbor, 28 year old husband and father, head on. Both drivers dead at the scene. Girlfriend was thrown from the car. Broke the laws and the oath he took to protect.
23 is not a kid. What are you talking about?
It would have been helpful to include the link to the gofundme in the description of this.
