Nickel Plate Road #765 pulls into a sleepy Mid-western town with her magnificent Nathan 6 Chime steam whistle announcing her arrival.
It is a snowy, Christmas Eve in a sleepy, Mid-western railroad town. Not far from the railroad station is a small church. Aside from the sound of the blowing wind, all is calm and silent. Suddenly, the clock strikes the hour, and the churches chimes come to life, filling the station with music. As "O Holy Night" plays, the far off echo of a Nathan 6 Chime steam whistle announces the arrival of Nickel Plate Road #765. She rolls smoothly into the station, singing her song on her whistle. She briefes pauses at the station. Then, with two powerful blast on her whistles, she departs, echoing off into the distance. Soon afterward, the town returns to silence, and all is calm once again.

One of my Christmas traditions is to listen to O. Winston Link's famous recording, "Christmas Eve in Rural Retreat". Nine years ago in 2014, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society made their own Link inspired recording of the 765 at Christmastime. This video is heavily inspired by these two recordings. I hope that will enjoy this video.
