Hi guys , I sort of liked this one !!! Maybe I’m biased , because I’m a native of Philly? Lol, it was a sutto “Rocky”, under dog, type vibe. Lots of didn’t come together for me , the relationship with Queen and Adam. The holes in the story line , however , I liked the parts where he did coach Bo through that smack talk stuff . I give it a 3 🤔
Bo played for the Celtics at the end.

Love you two. I thouy the first game w/mean guy was just a small thing to let his boss see the guy. The boss rejects him. Later there is a news conf about his past assault charges... 🤦🤦 And your right, makes no sense cuz why is there a press conference about this "unknown dude." Idk. I'm mad cuz I told someone to watch it based on the first ten minutes then is got kinda so so. Not bad, but drawn out. Good review! Lol

Damn, I'm a little bummed you guys didn't like it. I usually agree with alot of your assessments but I like this movie. Maybe because I'm a huge sports fan and I understood every aspect of that journey trying to get to the NBA. Oh well... on to the next flick.
I gave this movie a 3 on my letterboxd. Sports movies in general are full of cliches. Underdogs win the game, non pro getting a chance to go pro, former pro getting second chance, training montages etc...
I actually really liked this movie and I am not a basketball fan and I also didn't know half of the NBA players in this.I can see from the points that you both made why you didn't care for it.

I love you guys, but I really liked the movie and the relationship between Queen and Adam seemed real and very supportive. II assumed they have money but live very frugality by choice. The Adam character is a real Philly guy who lives in the neighborhood he grew up in.
The last sports movie I watched was Air Buds 😂

Sports films have similar ups and downs and finally triumph storyline. Like the feel good feeling in the end in such movies but this doesnt seem to be coming together so well. Prefer your review. So entertaining 👍🏻

I’m not a huge sports movie fan I remember liking remember the titans and love &basketball(even though I’m not sure if that’s a sports movie lol). But I prefer sports documentary’s compared to movies.

I’m a big NBA fan , I like Adam Sandler , I wanted to like this movie but it feels so generic and was just ok… There’s better sports movies out there for sure. 2/5 stars for me personally

I wanted to see this film because I like Sandler but I have no interest in basketball so I'm just gonna watch y'alls video instead. Queen Latifa and Sandler are a very odd coupling lol ....Also Jordan Hull plays Bette and Tina's daughter in the new L Word.

i follow basketball alot i think i was more enjoyable. alot of the little joke there are you have to know about basketball. its kind of like those movies that have a tone of easter eggs. make you want to watch a youtube video to see them all.
I'm a huge basketball fan and I loved it, felt more realistic than Blue Chips which was more farcical imo

The movie was enjoyable in a sense of a feel good movie to watch with the family but actually critically looking at it, it’s not the best. The biggest problem for me what the chemistry between Adam and queen latifah. It was almost clingy, along with the idea that Adam Sandler was a beast at basketball and was in the NBA just isn’t that believable unfortunately lol

Love you guys but I think you got some of your plot points mixed up. The combine didn't happen until after the Boa challenge.

For the peoplethat haven't seen the movie, the significance of the order of events is as follows. Bo's first tryout is a private practice session just for the 76ers. When he fails there, it's important that he makes it to the combine so that all the other 29 NBA teams get to see his skills. Since the 76ers try to use his criminal record to get him banned from the combine they do the Boa challenge to go viral and show that Bo's talents are undeniable and that he deserves to be in the combine in hopes of being picked up by a team. Obviously, all are free to like or dislike the movie but I'd hate for someone to not like it because of a misunderstanding.

One thing that doesn’t make sense is why doesn’t Adam Sandler go work for kenny the jet character’s after he gets fired ??? It made no sense and also he would’ve never been hired again by the 76ers after the shit he said to Ben foster’s character even after Ben foster left the 76ers.
The sister and the son BOTH inherited the team. She just allowed him to run it. This is a scenario that happens all the time in pro sports ownership. The sister decided to take a more active roll and she hired Stanley back as he and her always had a good relationship. This is also something that happens all the time in real life sports.

I explained that the sister was running things now and she always had a good relationship with Stanley. If you follow sports, this type of stuff happens all the time. George Stienbrener and Billy Martin for example.

'Hustle' - *An unexpected use of energy that results in a positive play* I googled that reference! I admit, I did that after Nick did say. "not to be confused with" ;D So, appreciated it that it didn't matter if the viewer knows nothing about, NBA here! It's more poor writing and plot-holes. Like, why 'have sabotage/threatening acts - with no logically explanation for it, from a *sports world* perspective? Perhaps, if it was way under 2 hours, working on the chemistry between characters could make it a more worthy 'family' movie. Nick questioning a character's motivations: "antagonizing him, is like why, to what end?" Right on what this story did not need!
I loved this movie.. one of the better sports films I’ve seen in a while.

Clearly Adam Sandler loves basketball & recently he seems to care about making good movies again. Jeremiah Zagar doesn't reset the sports drama wheel, but it's definitely a crowdpleaser.
This movie was really bad, corny, and cliche. The shit Adam Sandler does in the movie would’ve had him blackballed worse than Colin kaepernick.

i'm not a sports fan but thought I'd give Adam Sandler a try (after being stunned by Uncut Gems). Shut it off halfway through. Sickeningly predictable. Skip this movie and watch this review. More interesting, better dialogue, more laughs. Thanks guys.
I like Queen Latifah, but Adam Sandler is SO stale: he can stop now. I'm so over him! 🥱😴
