- LIVE FROM THE FIELD!! Ben Hushon of The Mill in White Hall, Maryland joined us from the field to show us what they are dealing with. We discusses the dry weather conditions in the eastern part of the Corn Belt, specifically in Maryland. He explains that they had above-average temperatures in June and only received 1.5 inches of rain. The lack of rain and the high temperatures are causing concerns for the corn crop, as it is currently in the tasseling stage and needs moisture for pollination. Plus, we talk about how some farmers are considering cutting back on inputs due to the low market prices.
Very interesting discussion.
The locusts were singing on Saturday in Iowa. 6 weeks till a frost according to old-timers.
Dang
He’s really close to Baltimore.
If you want it to rain there, you should ask the RainMaker. The RainMaker was here.
That corn was planted too thick. There is population stress added to moisture stress. Here in Texas we have had less than 2" in the last 6 months...we are in a real drought. 5" in the last year.
That corn is really suffering right now!
Is this a drought or a flash drought
Just a continuous lack of significant rain since early June.
