Hi Tony. I received my device today. Isn't it a nice looking, silent and decent bit of kit? Man, this is a really nice power supply. Very well build. All the buttons feel great to use, very nice display, especially in Zoom mode. I've done some tests under load and results look all good. Handling is easy, no need to read a manual. I am very happy so far with my purchase. For that money you get a very very nice PSU. What I don't like (though not critical) is the fact that when using banana plugs for the binding posts, they do not slide-in completely. The length of the binding posts are all just a few millimeters too short. However, this is true for most Chinese PSUs... ;) no idea why those short binding posts are so commonly used. Thanks for sharing the firmware update, which ran fine for my device as well. I think I will have a lot of fun next few days in further playing around with my new "toy in lab".
Hi Markus, yes it looks amazing, for space i removed the corner bumpers, it looks less impressive, but usability is great. The Zoom is a great option for old men like me. the bana's i did not noticed, maybe becouse i have chinese banana.. so it fits. Have fun!!
Thank you for the look inside, Tony. I suppose the designers were concerned about users confusing the USB power output channel with the USB data storage port, but I still think it should be on the front panel. I still prefer linear power supplies for bench use. Regards, David
Hi Tony, do you know how to setup the output voltage with a slew (for example with a 100ms ramp up) in order the ps anticipate better to over current conditions and to parallel capacitors on the load?
Hi, Not sure to be honest, maybe the listmode can help here. but for the caps, the CC will help you not to have to high current. if you set the CC lower than OCP it should not be a problem.
Thank you! , on the top of my head, i think it was, when you left the setting at more then 0 volts, like 12 volt. and your list program started with 0 .. it first went very quickly to 12 and than back to 0. this was very short and quick.. but to be sure they now set first to output to 0 before the list program starts.
Nice work Tony! Always have a weak spot for UNI-T....every now&then they make some really nice equipment. The user interface is really nice implemented at this power supply. Did you take a look at the capacity of the 2 buffer caps? Thanks for the videos, keep 'em coming!
The user interface is implemented very nicely and the transformer is impressive. But the rest of the internals do not convince me as far as I can see in the video to be honest. At that point I was positively surprised by the internals from the Owon ODP 3000 series reviewed by Jerry Walker. But the UNI-t's user interface has an edge over those....where to choose for... They all have their pro's and con's....
Depends on what you want to do with it. for hobby or small lab its is a great price quality.. if you have a real lab were customers come visit that know their stuff maybe you want low noise Keithley. But this uni-t is not bad at all
Here we are almost a year later and they still have firmware 1.10 on their website. How is this even possible that you can manage to get newer versions and they are too shy to publish them officially? I don't get it.
They are so busy promoting their products they forget about the website, i mention to them a year ago, if you want to join the big brands. having a updated website is also very important. guess they find promoting product more important. i got this firmware because i noticed some problems sent my result to uni-t servicedesk and received the firmware. You be surpriced how willing companies are to help you if you just sent an email and ask. And maybe its helped i had the EU General Manager over for a visit in my lab :)
@@hit-757 Thanks for letting us know, i will update mine too. I did not have newer so very happy you left a comment. i added the link to my video description and added a better changelog with all versions mentioned (not only the last 2 as from UNI-T website)
I am about to buy this (or a OWON OCP3063) ... both have pro and cons. Here's a "Recorder" in the Utility menu, and I cannot find any informations about that. May you have a look inside and text us what we will find there? And THX for the look inside. The OWON has two separate toroids, but I think this makes no difference in the end. The 1.11 is still not on their website, for some reasons we do not know. I like the fact, that there are firmware updates possible at all.
Thanks for your comment, i would not know how to do that, but if you do, you prob need to recalibrate it and that can only be done with special calibration software that only official service stations have.
Thank You very much for this! It was my main concern regarding this power supply. With new firmware OCP works as it should from the beginning. I have sent You an email with another bug if You are interested.
Hi, yes thank you for the email, i have received it, very interesting point. for now i would advice to first set the voltage low and then start the program, but you prob thought of that yourself too :)
@@TonyAlbus i mean when you try to find shorts in faulty boards you need to get rid of the short circuit protection of the power supply so you can supply power to that short and see whats getting hot. If you have the short circuit protection you can do that. I know in some power supplies you can have a SC relay bypassed and its done and i was curious of they use the same principle here or more complex things
@@mendiarapi No you don't get rid of shortcircuit protection. to explane CC and OCP are types of protection. if you want to heat your shorted components and risking burning tracks, you could switch off OCP but i still highly recomment using CC to keep the current in control. if you want to be sure to burn everything just use a battery that will give you enough amps to blow everything. CC excists for a reason. please read about CC and OCP it will save you a lot of money

Hi Tony! What is the calibration procedure for this power supply?
That is done by special software only available to autorized UNI-T service stations, i have been told.
@@TonyAlbus Thank you!
In this case, this unit is no longer of interest to me.
A black ball for UNI-T!👎
Has it been leaked online anywhere. Do you have contacts that work at one of these service stations?
