One needs to have some serious calves to be able to walk regularly there with all those hills, and great safety awareness by those parked cars with their wheels turned toward the sidewalk.

Halifax has a much larger population than any city in Iowa. Maybe it doesn't compare to LA, Chicago, or New York, but the HRM is approaching a half million. It is at least as big as St. Louis, and much larger than DeMoines. Its population is 480,000. St. Louis is only 301,500. It is also the fastest growing city in Canada.

Curious as too others opinions on spring garden road going carless...they tried it last summer for 2 days...i hated it in middle of a work day its was eerlley quiet...our population not so big that our spri g garden would look bustling...even my friend who thought it a great idea looked at me and said...ahh no thiz is to quiet...does make the panhandlers more noticable now said she...taxis cant stop...cars cant stop to frequent shops...my grandma been going to dr.lu for glasses for yearz....she cant walk so she will have to take her business elsewhere...personally i love vehicles on spring garden the busier your busist street is is great and alive...i just dont know how they sat down and said...great idea lets let our most vibrant alive street look like a boring sunday stroll every day of the week!!! ...letz make it harder for people who drive to do business...i think it will be a boring disaster but thats just my opinion would love to hear otherz thoughtz on this!!🙂

We rarely get snow in Halifax before Christmas. If we do it gets washed away by the rain. We have had no snow so far this winter but it's supposed to snow tomorrow. We always get snow in February and some in March after that it's usually rain.
Currently none cause we're having some kind of freak non snow season!It sucks!I want snow and bitter cold yet we have spring like weather some of our grass is still green 😩

Ya, it’s too bad they only run in big cities in Nova Scotia. No buses where we live out in Yarmouth area. No car? No going anywhere.
There was no traffic on the streets when this walk was taken. In rush hour and during a working day, it is bumper to bumper traffic.

This Nova Scotian doesn't visit Halifax anymore. I refuse to patronize a place that is too expensive for me to live in.
But that's true of any city in Canada. Halifax is economical compared to Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Rent and mortgage is commensurate with the salaries that are paid in the area. Blame runaway interest rates and inflation. I have three children and their families living in HRM, and they make more than I ever dreamed of making when I worked. Unfortunately, the place my wife and I would love to move to, Bedford is out of our price range too.

@@rickbarnes7745 no its greed...yes everything went up..but when a 1 bedroom apt was 675$ in 2020 and i inquired about it again as i knew was empty now in 2023 its 1035$ ...thats just greed.....looked at studio apt. In the north end 1900$ a month plus electric plus 200$ to park...if u like cities you mays well go big and do toronto or vancouver wages better rents preety well the same as hali now....🙂

@@rickbarnes7745 yes...until the covid rent cap xpires in 10 months...or he renovates which ever comes first....but he can only raise her rent 2% until dec 2023....and thats only till her annjversary date comes up for xample if her anniversary date isnt until november he cant raise it till then and then only 2% ....until dec 2023 then look out if people thonk its bad now wait till landlords can raise it at thier whim!!
