If you un-clip the inner heater hose and take off the 10mm nut holding on the hard line it will give you A LOT more wiggle room along with taking out the mounting bracket from the OG header completely it comes out like butter.
That’s a good tip! Didn’t even think about that! That will be helpful for anyone that’s doing the job!!!

Apparently the goodwin midpipe has the o2 sensors situated in a way where it will not throw codes.
Yeah but I think you have to get an 02 sensor extension if I’m not mistaken
Not if you go with the Max Torque header. The Max Power header comes with the extension

This is awesome! Thinking about doing the same. Any issues passing emissions in your state?
Luckily I’m in Florida so no emission issues here. But I’d assume it probably won’t pass in a strict state. I would try to look at the website it’s listed on most of the time they will put if it’s carb compliant.
Not street legal in UK emissions laws won’t allow it to have cat removed 😡
California it’s illegal to do it as well but I’ve done it with 5 cars and have never had a problem

Because of the cancellation of the catalytic converter

You said you did have an error code? How did you resolve that code? Enjoyed the video.
I just ignored it, I think there is a O2 extension you can add that helps but it didn’t bother me.
Any issues with the o2 sensor wire being too close to the header and getting hot?
Did your check engine light go on after putting on the headers ?
Yeah it did. There is a work around with extending one of the O2 sensors back on the mid pipe but I just ignored it and checked the codes every so often
@@RandomFootageFromRon if you clear the code via OBD2, will the CEL reappear again at a later time or does it stay permanently removed?
Noise wise in the videos, it doesn't seem bad, but what's it like driving it day to day now? I have a 2018 RF Club and really want to bring my HP up to that 180 mark, but that requires complete exhaust change plus a tune and I'm not wanting it to be loud. I know it's going to be louder but a little is OK.
I would say it wasn’t bad at all. Never bothered me with the set up I had.

Did you get a low catalist code by taking the factory header with the pre cat off? If yes, did you do a tune to fix it?
I did get a code due to cat missing, I just ignored it to be honest.
That thing is quick. What kind of numbers does it make?
Stock it made 174/154 I have a dyno video posted that you can watch. I’m going to redyno it soon to see changes.

No I didn’t, but I would assume a 5-10 whp increase with a lot earlier of a tq curve. Power seemed to come in earlier and felt super nice.

Any worry about heat soak in the engine bay due to removing the stock heat shield?
Not yet, but paying attention to it.
It’s actually hotter with the stock exhaust manifold because the cat is at work burning up the gas. No heat shield is needed because it’s actually less heat without the cat. Someone confirmed it on the Miata forums
That’s interesting, I also chose to go with the ceramic coated header which is suppose to help with air flow and heat disbursement. So who knows.
Does this void the warranty?
There is a letter out there from mazda to the dealers stating that they won’t void warranty up to a STR class. So full exhaust, intake, suspension and even a tune technically won’t void. But if they can prove it’s what cause the issue then they can.
Did you have to do a tuner as well or just change the exhaust and header, with no mid pipe?
No tune, midpipe is the invidia
@@RandomFootageFromRon Thanks for the reply! I have been told, from a very good source, the mid-pipe really adds nothing, except maybe noise. I am not planning to use one on my 2018. Thanks for the video, if you do a dyno tune I'd definitely be interested in see your results.
I only paid 450 for midpipe-muffler. So it was a given for me to take both. That’s why I have them

Yeah I did it stock, but need to make it back down there. My trunk just got in along with my tires so need to set car up and then find a day to dyno it. I have a video of it stock if you look on my Chanelz
I’m about to order the max torque headers too. But I was advised not to run with the GWR axle-back due to it’s loudness. Which exhaust muffler are running? Would you say this setup is obnoxiously loud?
I had the invidia q300 midpipe and axle back and did not think it was loud. I would think as long as you have a muffler you will be ok. I enjoyed the sound of the car.
@@RandomFootageFromRon perfect! Yeah I’m running a GWR axle-back that is considered maybe their 2nd most aggressive muffler but it does come with a mixing baffle so I can adjust the sound if needed. Perfect this is super helpful! Thanks a lot man! Cars looking clean with the new ducktail!

i have to replace the exhaust manifold gasket. do you think i could unbolt it and slid the old one off to put the new gasket on. don't really want to take the header out.
I’m not sure, with the bolts coming out might be right, but I think if you undo motor mount to give your self some room by lifting engine shouldn’t be horrible.
Did you have misfire? I have code p0134 and it’s tuned but still misfiring.
No misfire. But mine wasn’t tuned
Cool but not something I prefer. The Blaaaaat is just too much for me. I live close to an intersection in a town with lots of tuner cars so grown tired of loud mufflers.
Was a lot better sounding in person, the rasp seems a lot worse over video. Got a lot of compliments in person, as well as never any noise complaints. Had a nice throaty sound that wasn’t to annoying.

Any trick to getting that yellow clip out for the O2 sensor?
To be honest it’s been so long I can’t remember. What part of the video is that and I’ll try to think back?

@@RandomFootageFromRon Hey I'm all finished up everything looks great besides an intermittent rattling sound I hear at idle. All the bolts are tightened, any ideas? I see on a forum people had a heat shield rattling but I don't have one touching anything.
@@thevenomousowl I would just go through everything you touched, gasket might not have sealed correctly of heat shield might of not tightened square. Tapping the head shield would instantly tell you if it’s it. Should be solid when you tap.
what mid pipe do you have? any cel from no cat?
The system was invidia q300 catback. And yes I had cel on once headers went on.

ND1 RF the carbon trunk was around 600, but I got a good deal as I preordered it. And I have an aftermarket midpipe that pushes rear 02 back, so hoping no engine light. I also have to avoid tune to keep warranty.

Yeah, I don’t get all the benefits. But lifetime warranty is hard to throw away. If anything serious happens they will pull computer history and see the tune and ref lash.
Random Footage From Ron but you’re pretty modded already. Unless you mean power trained warranty with the dealer as long as you pay them to perform all of your maintenance services. I have that too but I’m not paying them perform an oil change when I can do it in 15 minutes with my quick jack

What tune did you use?
Currently untuned and having no issues with it running.
How much faster did it feel would you say?
I would say the power comes in a lot earlier each gear, so more useful power. But it is def noticeable.
