  • Lots of thoughts about this one you guys. This may be the best book I've read all year. Love you, Eliza.

The errors aren't in the Kindle copy so I don't think they were intentional

Hey! I’ve read penance recently and loved it too! Interesting about the errors, I noticed them but assumed it was deliberate to show the incompetence of the narrator? But now I’ve heard you speak about it I’m rethinking that 😂

Yeah, I thought they might be intentional too. But that doesn’t really hold up with the fake Guardian article…

I'm actually going to go out to Waterstones and get this today. i've been wanting to read it for a while. I'm not sure if you've already read these ones but; I seriously recommend 'My Dark Vanessa' by Kate Elizabeth Russell and 'A Little Life' by Hanya Yanigahara (A Little Life is a very traumatic read, so if you're easily triggered, maybe not the best book for you, but it's beautifully written, unforgettable read...so worth looking into and seeing if you want to give it a go.)

I just went back to check the audiobook and the first error you read at least is not included! Idk how much oversight Eliza had on the narration but that does make it seem like an editing issue with the print copy rather than an intentional choice 🤔

Interesting that it’s very clearly based on/inspired by the Shanda Sharer case and the author doesn’t credit that at all. Even down to the McDonald’s after the murder

Yes I noticed the weird double up paragraphs! I thought it was some new experimental writing technique that I wasn't clever enough to understand lmaoo. I'm glad others were confused too x

I really think the errors are intentional. Eliza isn’t writing as herself, she’s writing as a cancelled sloppy middle aged man.

Yes to the errors!!!! The whole paragraphs!!!! I was sooo confused how that got through so many people. LOVED the book otherwise. Hits different for the 2013 tumblr girlies 🥲
