Awesome video! Great catches. I appreciate your respect for the ocean, but when i jet fish I have waders, felt boots, auto inflate jacket, and neo gloves. Watch the swells, be prepared, but don't shy away from getting wet. I'm not telling you to put yourself in peril. I've watched several free dive fishers spear lings 5 ft from the rip rap in swells. With a rod, You gotta get down there with proper gear to land big fish.
My father took us fishing on a jetty, or at least I think he did. I'm sure now it was Winchester Bay oregon, and I remember climbing up on rocks like that as a kid.
If you don't want to lose big fish, use 40lb mono instead of braid. Mono will hold up against the sharp rocks and corral. My big fish jetty rod uses heavy mono. You'll get it next time.
The Jetty to me is always like the SMORGASBORD of Salt Water fishing. You just never know what’s going to turn up, amd you’re totally not limited in size of fish, such as the ‘lakes’ that we all go to and generally know what to expect. It’s just unreal every time. Thanks!
Hey i know its a long shot but the family and i are heading to the Oregon coast for a family reunion but mainly fishing was wondering if you would be interested in showing me the ropes as far as oregon coast fishing goes me and my 9yr old son love fishing but have no idea how to fish the ocean as we r from Nebraska and strictly fish lakes and rivers
I always wear a flotation device when I go down to those unforgiving shorelines . Better to not need one than to need it and not have it .

In new zealand rock fishing I used a heavy leader to avoid breaking the line on the rocks, and then a gaff to help land them.
