  • Here's an update to the Bullet 500 restoration. Sorry for the gap between videos, but there's been some more delays with parts and a couple of issues with existing parts. It looks like everything's back on track! #motorcycle #motorcyclelife #royalenfield #losangeles

Thank you for the update. Your videos are great...too bad you're running into so many part issues, but it's good for us viewers. Looking forward to your next videos.

Thanks for watching and I appreciate that! It can happen with some of these older bikes, especially ones that are a bit uncommon. You just have to roll with it, but it admittedly does get frustrating at times. New videos are coming.

Have done a few resto's myself and none have been straightforward, it's as frustrating as hell! Will be worth it in the end, you'll be able laugh about it!! Look forward to seeing you riding the finished bike! 🇬🇧

Thanks and yeah, I expected problems, but it’s definitely frustrating at times. I’m also looking forward to riding it! Hopefully soon

I like your videos, I have a 1994 right foot shift that I’m starting to dig into. My Dad bought it new in India and had it shipped over to the US, it sat ever since and was never registered. About 60 km on it

Ha I told you not to chuck away the exhaust. I try to keep my old parts because I'm stingy but they do come in handy no matter how battered they look or feel.
Coming to your decision of a high mounted exhaust, it'd not go well with the aesthetic of your ride and especially after removing the sidebox. I'd suggest fabricating the exhausts you've already got as that'd ensure that the look of the motorcycle is maintained.
All said and done, your RE looks ready and I just can't wait to see it up and running soon. Keep us updated 🎉

Thanks and yeah, I remember someone on here saying it was a mistake to toss it 😂. I’m going back and forth on the high mount - it’s growing on me and it’d be different. I’m going to resolve the clutch issue and then I’ll make a final decision. If nothing else, I can get this all wrapped up with the high mount and change things later.

Thanks for the update. I was wandering what had happened. To bad about the clutch and especially the header. I wander if you cant get a shop to reshape the Hitchcocks pipe.

Thanks and I wouldn’t attempt to reshape the header pipe. Wouldn’t be worth the trouble and expense, if it could be done. The high-mount exhaust will work and the look has definitely grown on me.

Ahhhh, know-it-all kids! I guarantee he will never do that again. Bring the tank back to him and give it to him as a souvenir. Maybe it will remind him to think next time.

I should, but I’ll sell it to someone who wrecked their bike and won’t care about the flaw 😂

Rather than a high level exhaust, would it be better to switch it to right hand shift? The brake and shift will work better anyway without linkages crossing them over the bike. I ride a left hand shift VFR750 and right hand shift bullets and it isn't really an issue switching between them. I very occasionally downshift the VFR when I meant to brake but it has the same net effect. The high level pipes on the Indian frames are real leg-burners because you can't tuck them in as far as on the Redditch frames. Fine while riding but you have to stick your leg way out if you put your right foot down. I have many pairs of melted waterproof trousers from the exhaust on my trials bullet.

This is something I’ve seriously considered and it may happen in the future. For now, a high exhaust is the quickest way to get this back on the road. Once it’s up and running, I’ll definitely consider further mods.
