    BarZ HotShot360 S/N 001 is still working happily in my shop. Though I think I am overdue for an upgrade to the programmable controller and siren.

    I'm glad to see things working good for you.

    We all finally got to see Stan's unit. They knew that you were going to open this on camera right? The straight line was delivered. I couldn't resist. It's always neat to see the evolution of you creative brainchild. I sill love my original Hotshot.

    Congratulations on bringing a project to completion. Looks like a great unit. Wish I had a use for one. I get a kick out of Stan carrying on about making sure that you plug into an 120v 20a circuit, then he turns around and plugs the unit into an extension cord that looks like its a 16-3 cord.

    My oven arrived this week. Slight damage to the outer skin. I do not think the oven is affected functionally.
    What I did not appreciate and understand was the 20 amp circuit/plug requirement. I am studying how to add a 20 amp circuit into my power panel and routed into the garage. My bad.
    I think the doc should include pointers to the novus website and the two programs you mentioned in this video. This video was invaluable and understanding software tools.
    It would be extremely useful for a novice like me to have a couple of sample programs showing heat treats for a few different metals. In my case 12L14 and stainless 17-4.
    Stan, thank you for inventing such a phenomenal tool! My son and I are looking forward to using the oven.

    Ordering your HS-1200 for my shop this morning, nobody in my area even does heat treat, so I’m jumping in, already have customers coming forward for when I’m set up, pretty excited to be able to treat my own machined tooling!

    Off subject,,Stan that mill attachement John showed in this Sunday's ARW discussion, If you look up a video that Steve Watkins did back in Jan or feb this year, the was a used machinery ware house in TomBall Tx. and good change they may have more than one. Harold mite know the place, but the owners name was Tom. Hope this mite help you locate that attachement. The have a steady rest for my LeBlond 17, but was pricey, so building one,,Bear in TX. That was a great open discussion this wk also..

    Darn Stan, I didn’t realize you were going to be a distributor as well. 😄 After watching the 2021 Bash livestream, I went to American Rotary’s website and immediately pre-ordered one. It arrived last week and it is beautiful piece. Thanks for all the development and partnering with such a fine company. I got a couple things in need to do first but will be running the break-in cycles in a couple of weeks. Didn’t really need one right now, but couldn’t pass up on the introductory pre-production price. All the best to you….. 👍👍😎👍👍

    Having been a manufacturer, decades ago, I do appreciate seeing them together. There’s something about the very first and last of a product line, particularly when it evolves into something else.
    Meanwhile, I have an early Hot Shot 1200, and am enjoying its use. I would love to be able to upgrade to the new handle though. I keep saying that I’ll do one of my own, but laziness and too much else to do has prevented that. The USB feature is great as well, maybe if I ever get the time I’ll install one. I hate programming these things with the indecipherable codes and buttons. Well, not as bad as some of the VFDs I have.
    The app is likely Portuguese, if it comes from Brazil.

    Hey Stan, congratulations on the transition to a production manufactured product.
    I’ve experimented with small scale product development and like you found it difficult to achieve the economy of scale that a large manufacturer can achieve. It’s hard to decide how much material to order
    Especially in the early stages of product development. Not very scientific, but I’ve learned the answer is what can I afford? If the product sells readily, I’ll take the income and invest it more heavily in materials to get better cost and therefore improve margin. As you know, it’s all a guessing game. Again congrats on a good design and good product.

    Quick question...what would a small shop machinist use this for...and don't say to heat treat metal. :) I get that...O1, A2, D2, R2D2, etc... But I've never had a strong need to heat treat/harden or anneal anything. If were a knife maker, then yes. But as a machinist working on small job shop stuff, what am I missing? It's a serious question. I want one but I don't know why...i.e., would I really use it. Very cool project though. Watched from early on.

    • @ShadonHKW
      @ShadonHKW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paint or grease burn off, expanding a press-fit, preheat for welding, tempering, smelting aluminum, brass, and copper, heat bluing, melting Loctite out of parts. This is in addition to the obvious heat treating and tempering.

  • @SteveKluver

    Thank you for showing this one off to us, Stan. Congratulations! It's a beauty, for sure.
    Are there hard limits built within (Controller, Software), to keep us from using this at say 2150F, and throw up an error code? I need just 7.5% more degrees!
    : - )
    You and I talked about this in April of 2020, on an earlier model. When I'm buying new ovens, I've been having to go with 2200F rated models.
    Also. Any plans of offering this in a 220V version, in the future?

    • @ShadonHKW
      @ShadonHKW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have 5) 240 Volt models ordered in this batch, which should be on the next truck. The upper set point limit is via the temp controller, which is easy to change to 2200F, the working limit of the Kanthal element is 2400F which was too close for comfort for me. You could run at those temps, but with the extreme oxidation the heating element would see, I would consider that part of the oven consumable.

    • @ShadonHKW

      @@ShadonHKW awesome. What a sweet little package. How hard if not impossible would it be to build an oven that could melt cast iron

    • @ShadonHKW
      @ShadonHKW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dizzolve Thye cast iron melting point exceeds the limits of the heating element, I'm afraid you are stuck with fuel fired to get there.

    • @royreynolds108
      @royreynolds108 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dizzolve These are just guesses on my part. It would take some doing but you could use induction or arc for a furnace. It may be possible there is an induction model of the size you are wanting but more than likely you will be stuck trying to build an induction furnace or arc furnace for the size you want. I have an idea both would be very electron hungry compared to fuel oil or diesel for fuel along with a blower.
