I've been a huge fan of SH2 since the original game release back when I was a teenager. Thank you for sharing your insights, some of them are making me rethink a few perspectives I originally had about certain aspects of the story/gameplay, and are opening me up to entirely new angles to approach them from - which is honestly really refreshing! It's nice to be able to find 'new eyes' to look over something I have loved for such a long time and find additional nuance. 🥰

I decided to watch a playthrough with music just to see what I was missing and I gotta say I think I do prefer it without music. I do wish they added an option though to keep the music for the cutscenes. I really really appreciate all the knowledge and insight that you give on all your playthroughs. I've been able to use some of your words of wisdom in my own life, and you've taken some of my favorite games and put them into a different context which I just think is so cool. Anyway that's all lol thanks for all you do! We appreciate you!

Now that it's happened, I can say I'm surprised they kept the "suddenly elevator talk show" puzzle in the remake with it being 'more serious' and all in presentation. I expected it to be a new kind of optional puzzle that gave out the same rewards. Also amused at how the questions are slightly different from the original. Perhaps a little attempt to catch people off guard if they were just playing from memory and not fully listening. In the OG, the questions asked for the name of the town's amusement park instead of the 'number of victims' question, the second question was the 'murder victims' question and asked for the name of the killer instead, and the third question was the road name question, but it asked for a different street name.
Each one has it's own flavor. I don't really think about playthroughs in terms of favorites - though I will acknowledge that Silent Hill stands out because I've had the opportunity to discuss dynamics I rarely get to discuss.
If you ever want to check out another deep game with a lot of inspiration from SH2 I would gladly give a copy of signalis to the channel ❤ I would love to hear your thoughts on the game! It's nowhere near as long but it's got depth
Does dr.mick have a list of games he will not play? (for various reasons). I so desperately want him to play the outer wilds. However, that game isn't voiced and has a lot of reading in it; despite the message it carries and how important it is towards certain beliefs. It being a knowledge based game; one you can't experience ever again. I know most likely it wouldn't be something he'd play without other people backing it up that he trusts their game choices on.
You can tell he has never played any Silent Hill games before this otherwise he would already made connection to _that thing_ based on the bits of lore he got so far. And that is great. It allows him to judge this game on its own.

After the next main area, there's a short high emotional bit, and immediately into the next area, there's probably the most famous cutscene of the game. You might want to turn the music on for that one, I'm not sure how the sound technically works.
Good news - it played despite me not turning the music back on. (You'll see in Part 10). Which shows me that Konami knows when the music is important enough that it will play despite turning it off in the menu. And that's what I'll choose to trust going forward.

Each one has it's own flavor. I don't really think about playthroughs in terms of favorites - though I will acknowledge that Silent Hill stands out because I've had the opportunity to discuss dynamics I rarely get to discuss.

There are a few games on my "no" list - Outer Wilds isn't one of them. It gets recommended every once in awhile and I may look into it down the line.
