i love dr mick’s content not only because he’s so insightful, but because he doesn’t give af about the people who hate! he doesn’t pander to get everyone’s views. if it’s not for you, he tells you to stop watching. plain and simple. i wish more creators would curate their audiences like this.
i was always scared of horror games growing up and still am, but taking the plunge to play soma and the sh2 remake this year was one of the best decisions I made gaming-wise. horror games are able to explore psychological elements other genres simply cannot.
I've mentioned this before, but this really is my 2nd fave playthru of yours after Rdr2. The topics you get into here are so interesting..as always..thanks for the awesome content 👏
Love your analysis of Silent Hill 2! Just wanted to ask if you plan to cover any other Silent Hill games after this one-that would be awesome. I also asked you a while ago about GTA 4, and you mentioned it was on your list but pretty far down. It's been a year, so I was wondering if it's any closer now. Love your content, man. Keep up the great therapist analysis!
@Dr Mick Firstly sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather, hope you get better soon. Secondly This has indeed been a great and deep playthrough thus-far! I've been taking quite a few notes on things you've had to say and they've been insightful into my own life, so thank you for the inspiration
Hi Dr Mick. I'm so glad to see another upload of silent hill from you. Time to immerse. And what a way to enjoy my 39th birthday👏. Been having lovely and enjoyable whole day, what a fun way to end the day with. Thank you😊
I think "incessantly" in the article is probably just a strange translation choice; the original word in Japanese is likely to be closer to "ceaselessly" or "tirelessly", implying the dedication of the hospital instead of stubbornness, haha.
I know I heard the introduction about not trying to find out exactly what konami wanted to say like 7 or 8 times by now but only now it makes me think of a question, Do you think konami/bloober involved therapists or doctors when writing the game? or is it mostly artistic work that happens to be fairly accurate in its themes and you/we cut them some slacks on the medical topics?
I was wondering, if a patient come to a therapist and confess that they offed their spouse and now struggling with their peace, what should a therapist do? Work with him first then the cops, or straight to the cops? Edit: oh you answered it. Thank you
@DrMick Ah, sucks, but understandable. It has an immense depth that would synergize well with your affinity for character analysis, but the entire gameplay basically being a prolonged reading session could be a bore, sure.
Disco Elysium being boiled down to an interactive audio book, is precisely the reason I refrain from recommending the Persona Series 😂. They're definitely in the category of "going so in depth, but can totally become a bit much"! @@DrMick
@DrMick Right audio channel disappears around 54:13. Might want to edit and either make audio mono from that point on, or restore the audio channel if possible. FYI.
If you want to figure out the strange photos wait until you beat the game then count the objects in the photo and go to that letter of its title. It will give you a letter put the letters together and it will make a sentence. It is important to do this at the end of the game or it will spoil something for you. It is not necessary to figure out at all.
The note from the director's safe, leads to the jumper's journal (Am I just the medicine I take? I'm don't feel ready for the big change) on the roof of the hospital - someone that **needs** to self delete? And, who I believe to be Valtiel, the valet of God, shows up to kindly help James understand that he's going the wrong way - he's headed down, not up! In that way, Valtiel, is fulfilling the prophecy of that note. You know, like a valet that puts away/brings people's vehicles. It is also possible that the director is still talking about his three hopeless cases melting together (based on "water no longer has a calming effect, what did I miss?") - like he's selling herbal miracle tea on a dodgy website, but customer's aren't happy. He who is lying to himself about something? He doesn't want therapy, in case the therapist would spot something, he could not, doesn't want to admit? So he continues to refuse to confront his problem, because other people will find out? (Or as you said: You cannot judge yourself, if you won't let other people judge you). And all of that is a bridge to a truth that comes later, after a long march. And then the last part seems as though they are just the literal instruction, on how to gain access to Rosewater Park. 1:20:10 I liked this scene, it's one of the new ones. So Angela is disenchanted, disgusted, disappointed... disenfranchised? when she is looking at the memorial of Jennifer Caroll. The woman that was persecuted for being a witch, and left to die on an island in the lake, and that guy rowed to her light every night to care for her needs. Local patron saint of undying love. Huh. And she's like: "Oof, you're boring" like she didn't just try and stab him with a knife a few hours ago. More huh. And then random psychotic episode, yep, that's definitely Angela, alright! 1:46:56 was a pretty crazy intuition. "Made It !" is one of the not so good ones. But it's key value is 3.
Absolutely nobody would ever connect P=V unless they played SH3 and know LM. Don't be the annoying fanboy who spoil things. Let the man piece the story together based on what he encounter in _this_ game.
@@bota6575 A lot of people don't connect them, so it's just the speculation that the enemy that can't be killed, might be fundamentally different, from those that can. Perhaps he is not meaningfully malevolent? But the reference could've been left out, I guess.
If you ever choose to do a second playthrough you should definitely play it with the soundtrack on. It really ties into the psychological themes of the story.

I'm gradually getting more interested in playing this & I'm not a horror gamer. Love the layers & discussions here.

I’m not sure if I’ll do other Silent Hill games but I won’t say never. GTA 4 is still on the list but I’m not sure when it’ll happen yet.
@@DrMick The only downside for GTA 4 is not being allowed to pause during a cutscene :(
@@DrMick thank you for the great work nonetheless

Something strange. Anyone else using headphones notice the audio goes only to the left around half way through the video? 54:01

This guy would love Disco Elysium, I think. Hopefully he gets around to it sometime, although I'm pretty sure he has never mentioned it.
I tried it for an hour and a half and hated the gameplay, so I have no intention of playing it. Sorry fam.
