Another great vlog of a dream destination of mine, thanks. The Y shaped corridor view reminded me of Mirage hotel in Vegas - not as swish of course as the Beverly Hilton and no refurb forthcoming as sadly it is soon to be demolished.
This was a very interesting video. I knew they boarded the room up after Houston passed away but I didn't know they opened it back up. I'm very glad they remained respectful of Houston even as they opened the room back up
Yeah, I guess so. Like all hotels I suppose. It's because someone as famous as Whitney died in 434 that they closed it to stop goulish fans from visiting.
Great report. The block next door to the extension is to be built on used to be a JW Robinson department store until the late 1990(?). Then stood empty for ages. I have stayed further down Wiltshire in Westwood Village (lovely village feel shopping area and UCLa campus) at the Kimpton Hotel.
Thanks for the info! It's always great to learn a little bit more about places we visit. I wish we had explored the site a little bit more while we were there TBH.
Just a small detail for correction: Houston was scheduled to attend the Grammy Awards, not the Golden Globes. As a result, the televised Grammy show that year was heavily re-written and restaged at the almost literal last minute to address the "death in the family".
Hi De Hi Ken! No, we stayed here before embarking on Discovery Princess in Los Angeles a few weeks before we did the Mississippi cruise. Vlogs from our Californian cruise on the list of things to do. :)
I actually like the look of the other wing rooms and the green space. Less cluttered and hectic and crammed than looking over the pool area. If they planted a few more trees on it, I reckon it would be the better wing.
That's exactly why I suggested that those considering booking should choose according to their findings. The Oasis part of the hotel is different to the Wilshire and will suit many people. :)
@@visitwithus that is so perfect! You share your experiences with us so we know whether we personally want to skip it or if we need to add a new place to the Must See list!
@@jenniferalbert910 Exactly that Jennifer! We sometimes do some strange things but it’s all in the name of growing a diverse and interesting channel. I don’t know. Maybe the experience on-site is different, but solely based on this video, the hotel does not look any better or more exclusive than all the 4* all inclusive RIU hotels in the balnearic or canary islands…
@@visitwithus Everyone cringes at the unnecessary abbreviation. No one in California says it. I've only heard tourists say it, and I think this is the very first time I've ever heard anyone say "Southern Cali" in my 48 years as a native (Southern) Californian. THAT SAID, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your time here and I'm so proud to see your channel grow! I was here at the start!
@@PachinkoMedia Haha! Well as a blatant naive tourist I’m sure you’ll forgive me. It’s a British thing to say Cali I suspect because we think it sounds cool and, we’ll, now i know different. 😂

Thank you for sharing this. Rest in Peace Whitney Houston. Undoubtedly one of the greatest voices of all time.
Thanks for watching 😊

Thanks for watching. Never been to Las Vegas. tempted though... ;)

I am guessing many people have died in the hotel rooms over its 60+ year history and they let the rooms out the following week.

Part of it looks like an updated nod to the 50s, but I agree about the white monolith. Strange. Looking forward to the food vlog to come. Cheers!
Thanks Wiggy. It's preserved that architectural feel well we thought. Like stepping back in time...

Ah, thank you for the correction Lee Ann. I should've dug a little deeper into my research before writing the narrative. :)
How much it cost a night
Hi De Ho Richard. Did you stay here while you were in the states doing your river cruise?

Fun! Neat to see a spot where I will probably never stay 😁
Well, we do like to show stuff that may or may not be on peoples lists to do. :D

Maybe you’re right, but the Canaries are not Beverly Hills are they? 🙂
Sounds like a four-star hotel with five-star pricing.
Pretty much. A five star setting too! :D
Ho De Ho !
Morning campers! 😂

Oh-Kay-Oh! :D
Please don't say "Cali"
I’m a dumb Brit, but still interested as to know why this is offensive? 🙂
