Loomis sounds how he looks, old, worn out, and emotionally exhausted. His voice breaks as he checks on Michael, hoping The Boogeyman is gone and the boy he had tried to find in those dark eyes has finally returned. But the ordeal is STILL NOT OVER. Not for Loomis. Not for Michael who will never be normal even if he is free.
This is not "Loomis being like Michael," this is Michael remaining as Michael, who is still in pursuit of his family members, while Loomis is now Michael's guardian who is to assist Michael and make sure he completes his mission. Dr. Loomis is beside himself at first, but then he will realize that as Michael's doctor, he will come to accept his new position because he can actually help cure Michael by making sure he will kill his family just so that he can lift the curse from him. Loomis can justify helping Michael because what he is doing as Michael's doctor, is finally going to help cure him. He'll realize that he now, technically, has a way to actually help Michael which was something he could never do before. He'll be conflicted with the evil acts that he is involved in, but the madness he will experience in his own efforts to cure Michael is what will drive him. Not only will it cure Michael, but also himself, too. Honestly, that would have been a somewhat interesting direction had they used this ending, and had Pleasance stayed a live a little longer.
I actually think it would’ve been cool if after loomis got the thorn Michael basically swaps roles and tries to stop loomis or free him from the curse if they ever made a sequel to this movie
Of the two versions it's the better one. Both are still a mess of a film though. Can't blame Daniel Farrands as he was handed a mess thanks to the writers of part 5 just making up crap in that movie with no intention of explaining anything ie the Man in Black, the mysterious symbol on Michael's arm, and that cliffhanger ending at the police station. I seriously hate part 5.

The mark on michaels hand of the triangle is a scar showing he’s cursed with thorn. The only way to get rid of it is by passing it to someone else. He passed it to Wynn. Then Wynn passed it to Loomis. He started screaming because he knew what he was about to become. And the last shot is michael walking away, a free man. No longer a killer
I'm sure his reaction was of utter horror realizing the ramifications of what Dr. Wynn told Loomis shortly before dying. Having devoted his life to stopping Michael at any cost now Loomis is bound to him for eternity as a guardian. Loomis' personal hell realized.

But sadly, Donald Pleasance had passed away already, so they used other footage of him that they had. I have both versions on, DVD. This version on Blueray DVD and The Other one on, Regular DVD.
Sorry, but this cut sucks. I prefer the original ending. Donald Pleasance was near the end of his life, so what was the point of passing the curse onto him. It made sense with young Jamie in H4, but we all know how that turned out in H5. No. For me, Dr. Loomis was finally put to rest by Michael Myers. In the end, Michael won. Which is kind of sad and edgy at the same time.
