My dad built kits a lot when he was a kid and told me Jo-Han was his favorite, by the time I started building in the late 80's early '90s they were long gone. However I remember my dad and me driving around to a lot of different grocery stores in the Eugene Oregon area looking at their model cars and I finally found a Jo-Han that had been on the shelf for a very long time, it was a late 70s Cadillac, it seemed really special to build that kit because before eBay it was impossible to find vintage kits.

In 1992 I was unemployed in London and there was a model shop with the whole range of jobs Han I purchased lots and always painted them in Datsun Color’s as they looked cool on models, I still have some made and a few I have not, I need to re make them as an older 55 year old now, and get then right, I never made the engine / motor, as I glued the hood down , cheating but gave me more time to build another

I’ve never seen this release in my travels. I’d really like to see that flyer again, there’s some odd releases on there that I’ve never seen. The 56 Pontiac & 56 Olds are said to have “simple interiors”. I’ve only seen unassembled promo versions of these without interiors. Then the flyer mentions EZ-203 is a 1975 Olds 442. I have never seen that. Looks like the description mentions stripes and wheels. I’m sure the hood wasn’t modified to resemble a 442 hood.

Remember to sand off the wheel well trim as it was left over from the original 68 Fury III annual and not offered on the police version. Yes, I believe that's correct as this kit was, to the best of my knowledge, produced to be presented as a police car. I had made mention of the door pulls and cranks in case one chose to build it as a daily driver and that it would lack those details for that purpose. Thanks for watching!

I bought the same kit some years ago. You have me curious about mine. On the plastic wrapping it says 1 of 3000 made on a sticker, but it has all the markings of the original box of the 70s and the box is brown. But here's the kicker, it has the 2002 reproduction model sheet inside and the model build sheet looks like the original, but I can tell it's a reprint. So I can see you have a rare reproduction. My reproduction has all the looks of the original kit, so they did correct a lot of mistakes, including the box. Oh Yah, mine also has a small bar code on the ends of the box. Other than that it's identical to the vintage kit in every way. Glad I seen this video. I was hoping mine was a misprint like yours, shucks! Now I have to look at the two 59 rambler models I have to see if they look like the original packaging.

I think you're pretty much correct re: the origins of this kit. It's from the Okey Spaulding era of Jo-han (Johan) and I believe what he did was assemble these kits using NOS that he acquired when purchasing what was left of the company. This is speculation, but he probably had to print up new boxes, instructions and decals, and decided to change the product number in the process. Is it a vintage kit? Well, it's on the borderline I suppose, but it was certainly made from the same molds as a vintage version -- it's just not as clean as an earlier production kit would be in terms of flash, etc.

Wish someone would get hold of some old complete kits and reverse engineer them. So many cars that we will never see produced again.

Agreed. Those could be scanned, and 3D printed. The cost, however, would probably be quite high.

I dont give a f... about when its from,as long as i get it for a decent price and its a kit i want!Have the same one in blue and tinted windows but with the GC 300!!And here in Germany they are MORE then rare then in the US!And i payed about 35 Euros for it!So a standard price for a kit nowadays!Happy as happy can be!😂Have the Rambler, sox and MArtin ,Turbine car and others as well(even 2 AMC Rebels wich 1 i mod to a year earlier))As much as i know about Johan history,if you got a blue one with tinted glass it was a real kit produced by Johan!Whatever date it was sold by whatever company!

I agree. Most of the time, if I see a kit that I've been looking for, I'll grab it regardless. Thanks for watching!
