IGP: *Sees anomaly coming at him speedily, faceplants it. With gusto. Gets confused when the game makes him start over because he didn't turn around immediately and go back the way he came"
this video is infuriating, he took so damn long to even start and after that it still took forever to complete any level.
A lot of his videos are so long because he just keeps stalling. I remember one where at the end there was a choice to make and it literally took 30min for them to choose @@WonkyClownRibs

Somehow this is scarier than the backrooms. The passage is just 1 straight pathway and there is seemingly no way to maneuver around enemies. If they are faster than you, they *WILL* catch you eventually.
The back rooms used to be scary before all the entities and gobbledygook
The backrooms also gives a subconscious illusion of the possibility of escape. Every new room is a chance that it will be the exit, whereas this hallway never changes. Every direction points inwards.
Well cause they are the same thing, a liminal space, the backrooms kind of ruin liminal spaces, more people think of the backrooms than what it actually is, and liminal spaces aren’t supposed to be monsters either, maybe a stalker to make you feel uneasy but nothing that attacks, it’s not supposed to be murder scary but kind of nostalgic and uneasy or something is just wrong

Gaslighting: The game. Such a neat concept! I really appreciate the dev's restraint in not throwing in a dozen cheap jump scares. All of the anomalies are super weird "wrong" things that send a jolt up your spine when you spot them. Damn good stuff.
The only gaslighting here is IGP pretending he's "screwing up" right at the end of the level so he gets a longer video.

this immediately makes me think of the Japanese urban legend of Kisaragi station.....a train station that does not exist, yet people somehow end up there when taking a train by themselves near midnight
Hehe. That’s only the moving wall station. The one man behind the wall near the station switches the tracks to give people who are tired new experiences. He checks out if there’s one person and how their mental state is or is they’re tired enough to not exactly notice. It’s sponsored by 100s of millionsaires. (Not really a billionaire) they mostly stock trade like other normal people. They hired private construction and rail workers. They just do it to have fun. The land is nearby under their building they own, and one far off in the country is it’s easier to build in the country. They just like trains enough to build on abandoned train lines. They gutted a mountain a little to make their private station. It’s not Rumour, it’s just fancy living.
Sadly they can’t man the track switcher all the time, so… you know.

At 16:00, you miss seeing the last door knob. If you pay attention, the door knob is at the centre of the door. That's why it reset it how I know cause I already finished the game still looking for others anomalous in the game
The suspense and the fear of not being sure are both so intense in this game

This is just all sorts of nope, but a very well done nope. Indie walking toward the anomalies was making me pull my hair out though, and I literally trotted in place when that tile man started chasing him. The TENSION, man! Uuuugh.
I hope the devs keep adding new anomalies. It will prolong the game's replayability and keep it fresh for a while.

I think part of the issue is you interacted with the anomaly so going back was considered a failed. As it’s once you see it turn around and run.
This makes my heart race, eerily similar to when I start down one of my panic spirals and the last thing I trust is my own perception. The schizophrenia spectrum is a trip, man. lol

This is far better than the backrooms. No goofy enemies that try too hard to be scary, and most importantly, the horrifying feeling of inescapability and paranoia is much more apparent.

@@bornsvg As far as liminal horror goes the backrooms are great, they simply got less scary and authentic as they became more popular. The backrooms are not only overused, but most depictions of the backrooms are oversaturated with other horror elements (the other highly detailed floors and monsters). As a result it ends up taking too much attention away from the essential essence of the backrooms, which is the fear of the unknown and the fear of being alone. That kind of atmosphere also creates the feeling of paranoia and vulnerability that should be very apparent in the backrooms

The guy running at you that was blending in the wall was the best one. I had a... nightmare? Some kind of unconventional dream, long ago, where I was in a hedge maze that was only waist high. It was dark, but lit up enough that you could still see where you were and where to go. I made it to the final stretch, which was this really long and straight path leading to the exit, and it felt like that part of the dream was coming to an end. Then, I turned and saw a shadow figure that looked odd; if you imagine a black figure with a bright light being shone directly in front of it, and you inverted it so the bright sections were shadow and the black sections just didn't exist, that's what my shadow person looked like. He was just dark highlights and nothing more. Dark highlight bro was suddenly sprinting at me, and it scared me shitless so that I ran towards the exit. Of course, being in a dream, you aren't 100% smart, and the dream me decided to peek back to see where the highlight dude was; closing the gap fast. I ran and ran, and suddenly...
The highlight dude just ran right by me, reaching the exit first. He then turned, did a victory dance, and through gestures only, he mocked me for coming in second place. When I realized what it was doing, I woke up and yelled "WHAT THE FU-". I woke up from a nightmare being confused. Not scared, not frightened, not panicked; just completely confused. The guy from the hallway in this game around the 18:48 mark? 100% reminded me of that dream.
Out of the other youtubers I've watched play this game, you did the best job noticing how things change from the signs to the near invisible face. It provides peace of mind 😌 way to go setting a high standard for gamers lol

Those sounds you said were strange after climbing up the stairs are apparently just Japanese crosswalk noises, which would make sense seeing as the anomalous hallway seems to be a Japanese subway station(of sorts).
The rules say DO NOT TURN BACK. You keep running loops back and forth on hallway zero.

The reason you kept at 0 from teh start, is because you went back MULTIPLE times in a row. So you were actually at a - number and had to catch back up

This is actually pretty good. Alot of them are very subtle including the genuine scary ones but because of that they have really well designed and creative. It would be interesting to even see new levels but would they be able to keep up the variety?
Igp, loving your selection of obscure games, that always have some kind of twist to them. Really enjoy them!
Traditionally, these "Observation Duty" games have been a one-trick pony: make the player really focus in so that they notice tiny discrepancies, and then WHAM, hit them with something obvious and weird for a cheap scare.
This one seems unusually 'forgiving' in that so many of the discrepancies are fairly obvious. Growing paintings and floods instead of "the salt shaker and the napkin switched places" and "the TV remote went missing".
The groundhog day platform is so cool, I love that P.T helped start this wave (as much as someone I'm not aware of could have beaten them!). Also really love subtle ominosity within a mundane setting, makes it creepy in a way blatant horror or gore or jump scares can't create and feels less cheap!
Fantastic content man,love watching you play obscure game titles that are terrifyingly horrifying. Hats off to the devs with this one, it's a very interesting concept for a game with intriguing character and environment mechanics! Seems as though there are endless possibilities to go along with this one! Great job all around lads!

I watched so many videos about this game but I honestly never saw the face in the ceiling - nor did I ever see anyone notice it. That's genius!
Everyone seems to think the anomalies are time based but I think it's just position...like if you walk past the last door and then go back and look, the anomalies will have started. Anyway, I love the concept of this game and hope someone expands up on it! Anomalies "not found" should be changed to "not avoided."

I love how this game keeps me on edge, like I know there has to be something wrong or a jumpscare but I don’t know when or how it will happen so I just get this feeling of dread throughout the game

This channel makes me want to get into horror games more than ever before, seeing how many great interesting games there are, by their story and gameplay. Its also why I think horror genre is amazing.

Fun Fact: Those beeping and chirping sounds you heard when you exited the station were actual sounds you’d hear in busy Japanese crosswalks. They are for the blind or visually impaired.

I would love something like this, same layout. But its a multiplayer game, you have one controller and one player, the controller can choose the anomalies and play jumpscares. Every time the player passes correctly, the controller loses HP.
