You're wrong, although, sega saturn was more difficult to programme, the were games that surpassed the PS1 in 3D graphics, but it was at the end of life of Sega Saturn, and it was late. Check virtua fighter 2, dead or alive, powerslave (Exhumed in Europe), decathlete, last bronx, panzer dragoon saga, burning rangers. These games look stunning in 3D...
Well I know, but the 2D images without scanlines look a bit washed out even in HD. That's why I prefer scanlines, but as I said it's a personal thing sometimes....

If you mean the scanlines filter, is because to simulate old CRT TV's. Not everyone likes them, but I think this is how videogames looked then...
