The way you toss the fillings with the vegetable and herbs before you put it in the banh mi is such a game changer. I do this with my ripped herbs and onions for pho and bun too, and it’s the best!
When I lived in the university area in Hanoi I always had Bánh my nem khoai but the couple I bought it from always put the sandwich additionally in a panini grill...it's such a good snack!!!!
I love bánh mì, a healthy meal with the ultimate culmination of crisp textures and flavorful fillings, including sweet, sour and spicy. Thanks for sharing new ideas for the fillings! Love all your recipes and presentations!
Banh Mi sandwiches are really much better than Subway. I used to have it 3-4 times a week when I worked for a place so closed to banh mi shop. I think the bread made from rice flour makes a different.
Helen, this is the first time I've visited your channel. You are such a delight to watch! I will give one of those Banh Mi sandwiches a try now that I've learned how easy a lot of them are! Best Wishes!
You make my childhood come back with Bánh mì beanut butter & sugar (oh 😋) any way l love all of thems .thanks for sharing. My home land is Quang Nam. Điện Bàn.
I tried broiled nem nuong and also broiled gio lua on my homemade Bahn Mi. Both were good, but I'm not sure if they are authentic. Next I might try shrimp or Lao sausage. I love your channel and the recipes I've made so far!
When I had traveled to Da Nang I wanted our first stop at Banh Mi Phuong, in Hoi An. I promised myself it will be my final stop before I kick the bucket. The best banh mi ever, you can see the proof from all the mementos left by all the travelers under the glass covered table tops.
I tried the first four before, but the last 3 are definitely combinations I have not had before - the banh not one is like double whammy on carbs haha.
In SaiGon,they have stir fried curry clam Banh Mi , i don't know how taste it is so i'll give it a try someday.Basically,I think Banh Mi is the dish you can put anything inside the baguette, holding the whole bread by your hands and eat,not using tools :)) The creativity of Banh Mi is limitless ^v^
oh man, those look so amazing. Only thing I cant find in my home town is the bread. its either a french bread as long as your arm or small roll sized bread thats too dense. I need to learn how to make that bread myself.
When I order fried egg banh my there is always an option where you can ask to mix the pate with the egg to have them fried together and seriously it's so good. If I make omelette to serve with banh my I would try to add the pate in it too!
Helen you are awesome. Im from Montreal Canada. Im a french guy. Their is alot of french from france influence in Vietnamese food and culture. I have a nephew that is french candian and veitnamese. Do you speak french. Just wondering. I have your book, its amazing amazing :) XX
I've already watched this three times. Aside from the really alien part at the end, I'd say most of this is easily in reach to the audience, which is nicely typical of Helen's Recipes. I'm going to try at least three I'm sure. Transparent dumplings are rare here. Ah, I just remembered a place in Richmond VA that had a large menu of such stuff, and the most novel (to look at) was one with three fried eggs in it. I never tried it but it looked great, all kinds of color. I think they fried the eggs on the spot so it was hot and cold inside, a dynamic exciting breakfast! UM, if you didn't make up any of THOSE crazy looking things, are there some you DID make up? Are you just preparing us for that so we won't be scared?
Helen, I’m loving your NEW content visuals and music! You should add the background music while you talk throughout the video. It will be such a nice and bubbly experience for your viewers. I love your videos regardless!! ❤️
I loved the variety featured here. I'm sure there's a million more out there you will show us later, right? The one with the bot loc is definitely different along with the invention out of Hanoi with fries. I wish we can get the same type of baguette you guys have in Vietnam. The French bread in the US is so bad!!
Chip butties are common in the UK - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_butty as are a variety of sausage sandwiches - but not together. I want to try the mackerel one.
Bánh mì bột lọc made my sister go crazy when she visited Hue. It was insanely cheap with the price of only 5000 dong. But what a shame I can't find any store selling this kind of bánh mì in Sài Gòn.
Công Bình Trần oh thank you. but actually my sister said she wouldn't eat any bánh mì bột lọc with the price higher than 10.000 dong 😂 since the 5000 dong one makes a strong impression on her about how cheap and delicous a dish can be. But thank you anyway ❤
Banh Mi OUT of CONTROL! Slow down, I haven't tried all the usual ones yet! Are you starting another cookbook? I've seen one or two of these on menus but not tried, especially the sardine one. I always think "I can eat sardines at home". Ah, those canned sardines in tomato sauce are a kind of universal food product, they're cheap and sold everywhere but I don't really know what to do with them. SO, maybe this is the most important thing I learned this week. I've been in a few cities where this kind of bread is made, and those places usually make the sandwiches too, so I haven't done it at home very much. Orlando, Florida is good, there's a tiny tiny restaurant that does only this, and is very popular. I'd say the most wonderful sandwich I routinely get is in Jacksonville, FL, at a market that also makes that roast pork... if you're lucky you can get the sandwich with the hot roast pork inside, and then pickles and herbs all cold, and then the hot bread on the outside, it's really amazing! I have to eat this immediately out in the parking lot, and it's hard to imagine that anything could be any better. Maybe if there was a place to sit down. Judging by this one thing, it's hard to imagine what lunch IN VIETNAM might be like. I think your channel must be generating a lot of tourism by itself.
Folk, this is the best recipe of Banh My so far on youtube, it's fast, easy, and you got 7 contemporary variations. Well done Helen
I'm heading to Viet Nam this weekend....Banh Mi here i come!!!
FUN!!! Jelly, I wish I could go!
The way you toss the fillings with the vegetable and herbs before you put it in the banh mi is such a game changer. I do this with my ripped herbs and onions for pho and bun too, and it’s the best!
Wow, ngon qua, hap dan banh mi ! Helen’s gioi qua. 👍
All of the bahn mi look so good!
When I lived in the university area in Hanoi I always had Bánh my nem khoai but the couple I bought it from always put the sandwich additionally in a panini grill...it's such a good snack!!!!

Awesome collections, I downloaded it for my recipe files!!

I only tried the original but I loved to learn and try the other recipe.
Those are some seriously interesting bánh mìs! But I think I would still prefer bánh mì pâté any day! 😀
You make my childhood come back with Bánh mì beanut butter & sugar (oh 😋) any way l love all of thems .thanks for sharing. My home land is Quang Nam. Điện Bàn.

Roasted pork and clear dumplings in banh mi are Danang or Hue way. It's very popular there. I miss it so much 😢
I normally don’t comment but your teal shirt and the blue color book shelves was a great color combo
Did you notice the new cookbook?
Love them. Thank you Helen !!! All are so yummy

I will take any of those! One type of banh mi they make here is a turkey bacon banh mi!

Chip butties are common in the UK - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_butty as are a variety of sausage sandwiches - but not together. I want to try the mackerel one.
In Thu Duc I had roast duck banh mi.
love
Whenever I make pork ribs, I make a sandwich out of it.
Also on the peanut butter sandwich at the end, put a banana in there too.
Then Fry the whole thing a little, and it's Banh mi Elvis! (Fried Peanut Butter and Mashed Banana sandwich supposedly a favorite of Elvis).
Good
Banana is may fav go to with peanut butter
Love banh mi heo quay
Nói hay quá...nhưng t ko hiểu gì cả 😂
Where can I buy the one with fries in Vietnam?
in Hanoi :)

The version of Đà Nẵng :)

I want to eat my phone screen 🤪🤪
you forgot Banh mi lap xuong and dried shrimp. I miss that, please make it. ^_^
Bánh mì nem khoai sounds like the original PO BOY, which is baguette stuffed fries, for poor people back then.
IVE NEVER HEARD OF IT........!😳
I'm waiting on the 8th way to chow down on...lol
Is there a big difference in Vietnamese mint and 'normal' mint?
those are two different vegetable families. They have completely different flavors.
JinnyWander oh, I see, thank you. I guess I'll just leave it out
Those Vietnamese mints are known as Lady Thumb herb. They are not mints at all. lol....
