for me you are the best tutor on youtube.. you talk less, talk straight to detail when u cook.. simple quick short and so easy to learn from you.. thanks Helen
This is the best sandwich my husband and I have ever had! It was amazing! We added pickled carrot, homemade Vietnamese chile-mayo, cilantro, cucumber planks, and jalapeno. My husband is from Vietnam and had never really had this version of banh mi. Helen, you are helping us discover part of my husband's culture that he wasn't able to experience due to leaving at the age of 8. Thank you for what you do. We have tried so many of your recipes and they are divine! You are such a gift. Keep doing what you are doing. It is the highlight of my week to see one of your new recipes!
This recipe is really good.. I've been eating meat balls from the local Vietnamese shop for lunch for years now and now, thanks to you, I make them at home... just as delicious but I still buy from the shop at lunchtime to support them. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't know how good they are....
Thank you Helen for these authentic home made vietnamese recipes! I made this one last night and it was delicious. I replaced the jicama with fennel and it even better!
CHARMING video! Many thanks...I had a *lovely* banh mi sandwich in San Francisco at a very very busy little Viet place in the Mission district a few years ago whilst visiting my son there...sadly, he moved to Las Vegas...I *adored* San Francisco....we had a blast visiting a Korean restaurant there, too...I wanted to try Burmese food but ran out of time.
Just stumbled across your channel - fantastic recipes! I miss home made Vietnamese food so much, so it's great to have easy to follow recipes like these. Please keep it up, I look forward to watching more! :)
Looks delicious! I will definitely have to give the meat balls a try. This reminds me of an Italian deli place that I went to which serves meatball sandwiches and other sandwiches & they smother them in a tomato sauce. Their meatballs that are offered are huge! But I love the pastrami & roast beef sandwich that they serve better than the meatballs.
I love this recipe. When I lived in San Francisco a Vietnamese restaurant would serve a type of meat loaf that had clear noodle in the mix and a whole boiled egg in the middle. Do you know the name of that food. I'm so hungry for it. I like watching you cook you make me feel happy.
Claire, jicama is a starchy root vegetable...I live in Florida and it is sold in our local big grocery stores Publix...you can probably find it at your grocery store OR in an Asian grocery store if you have one nearby! ♥!
Also, where do you get your 3 tier salt/chick/pork bouillon jar? Btw, my 11 year old daughter loves cooking your recipes.I consider myself a pretty good cook and she has shown me some wonderful thing! Great Job.
Your Chanel is amazing. I just subscribed. I’m from Australia there is a Vietnamese store that serve it in a sandwich roll using a type of chicken patay which is like some sort or paste made out of possibly chicken liver? as a fine spread they use on the roll and then they use this type of thickened butter which is homemade, it’s almost looks like thickish custard Would you know those two ingredients and how to make it? Thankyou
