They actually handle FANTASTICALLY on a properly set up tire and suspension combo. I've tracked my S197 for over a decade now and a local track-buddy has a whole fleet of S and Z chassis cars that are an absolute DREAM to drive, but driving his stock-ish daily/parts-runner that has hotboi wheels and is slammed as far as the BCs will go is a tail-happy nightmare to drive with any anger. You should treat yourself to at least one properly built S chassis, they have remarkable potential (although the price/performance ratio certainly isn't what it used to be)

New cars may be faster but they're also boring, ugly, bloated with useless gadgets and heavy for the vast majority of them. They're so bad that people that can, prefer to spend tens of thousands for simple JDM cars that are decades old.
The problem with some of these old JDM cars is they are WAY overpriced for something that has things like an antiquated garabge ABS system and motors that need turbos that a natrually aspirated system can do. And not all newer cars are bloated or numb. Like the 370Z for example was less than 3300lbs and has hydraulic steering and a great ABS system that actually works well on the track. Weighs more than a S15 sure but less than a 90s Supra or GTR. I could get one for cheaper and I would trust it more than this S15 or the many clap traps out there since you can still get one that's relatively new and boomer owned. Same with RX8s even or late S2000s if you can them from their owners hands. These cars were great when they were cheap. At 20-30k they are not great.
@@kanaric Hence the "for the vast majority of them". There are still a few decent cars post 2010 or so (which is my current cut-off date for "new" cars). There's a great solution for ABS that works: E46 units can work standalone and they're good enough for people who don't require bosch motorsports systems. If I had 50k to spend on a car today, I'd run so quick for a pre 2010 car before coming remotely close to considering anything post 2010 (ish). 40 to 50k for a FD RX7 is an absolute bargain when looking at what 50k gets you in new car catalogs, especially for a sports coupe with character. I do like the 370z also. That'd be on the list. I do understand that some markets in europistan make it prohibitive to own cool cars coz any little mod can land you in jail or empty your bank account so choices become very limited.
