he is basically Tony Stark of Taldorei, his power is money and brains.
Percy, for now anyways, is the only person with a gun in the entire world. As you may know guns are kinda op especially in a medieval setting when the next best thing are bows and arrows and magic. But because he's the only one with the gun his guns are still new and really untested so they jam every now and then which you see happen a few times in the episode.
I’ve heard Gunslinger rolls are…unreliable. Haha
@@ODUBlue Kind of. Each firearm has a different “misfire” score and if you roll lower than that when attacking, it breaks. Then you have to spend an hour and money to fix it, until you hit a certain level and can do it in combat. The broken weapon in the game can still attack, but is much weaker.

@@ODUBlue It does have that downside, but there’s certain combat tricks you can do in combat and it’s probably the highest damage ranged weapon type. You get a lot of upsides, just with the downside of sometimes losing money and actions.

Yeah, Percy was absolutely in the wrong in thinking he "had them" and blaming the rest of the party for "letting them get away". But that's kinda the point: Percy's hatred and thirst for revenge at the very least clouds his judgement, to the point where he honestly thought he had a shot of taking those two out then and there ... even to the point that he discounted the fact that Pike would have died if not for what Keyleth did.
As much as "No Mercy Percy" if cool as shit, it's also a problem.
Which is precisely the point with the character.

I get your point but he actually had them had you been observant.
Percy's weapon deals the most dps out the group.
1st. Grog block his FOV so he could not aim for Sylas' heart.
2nd, they all tumbled unto him and the only guys who could have actually dealth damage is down.
3rd. Keyleth's sphere of vines blocked his view and he had to use his gun to tear through it which finished the entire mag/jammed.
I mean, the whole point of No Mercy Percy is that he’s acting WAY out of character, to the point of cruelty. Which is what makes it an interesting arc

You're the first of all the reactors Ive seen watch this show, to mention how Allura wasn't phased at all. Don't forget in episode 2 we learned that Allura took on a *Red Dragon* .
After taking on a red dragon, a door coming at you is nothing!

Allura was unfazed by the door because she's a powerful wizard who could wreck all of them 😄
*Spoiler Free* Percy’s family confined themselves to their city of Whitestone and didn’t get involved with anyone outside their own. This made their deaths that much easier to cover up because no outside political leaders were socially or politically connected with them and couldn’t care much about whatever happened to them.
Not to mention the capital Emon is on the west coast and Whitestone is waaaay far away on the east coast. Like 500 miles. Edit: checked to see how many days it actually took them in the game, and because they were better connected they just teleported to Westruun and from there is was just 3 days.

Keyleth is a Druid. Druids can use Wild Shape to turn into animals. Depending on how strong they are they have different options.

Fun fact, in the live game Vex can actually read lips, which is why whenever she talks in this episode she covers her mouth with the fan she's holding. Also idk if you guys mention it in the full reaction or not but Sylas didn't have a reflection in the mirror but Delilah did. (Where my money at algorithm)

Vax , and his one eyed trouser snake. He had a belt that transformed into a snake in the game but it was just a regular two eyed snake. They added the eye patch for comedic purposes just for the animation.
Such a good introduction to No Mercy Percy
They do own the keep. They have the deed, it is theirs. The look was just a "we just gave you a keep and your talking bout selling it.. wow" look.
Think theres a bit of a missunderstanding before the episode begins; they arent staying in the castle they were given a deed for the land upon which the keep of the last people that did this job owned. Their "rent" of protecting the kingdom just provides for the free food and guards for their home. Without spoilers, if they live long enough to retire they would probably be granted a knighthood/nobility.
The keep isn't in the castle it's not even in the noble district & they have the deed so it's not a lease .
Percy is like Batman; dead family and vengeance
The reaction to and the timing of the reaction to ball tag was perfect.
Percy only has one gun… at the moment. And because guns don’t exist in D&D he has to make them himself, which makes firearms very volatile with the potential to jam and misfire, but also deal huge amounts of damage when they work properly
NO MERCY PERCY
To explain why certain things about the plot, like the getting the keep, may feel weird.
Without getting into it too heavily. An old cast member left the show. He wanted to keep the IP of his character. So he got to keep it.
There were a lot of arcs with his character. Those arcs had a lot of character development for individual characters and the party as a whole.
This series is skipping almost all the arcs where this cast member's character was present. Events for things important to the party as a whole, like getting the keep, were rewritten so the party could keep those things.
In the original plot the party had saved Tal'dori multiple times. They had earned the respect, admiration, and friendship of the king, council, and everyone else due to these things. So much so that they were given the right to travel in noble only areas, the keep, wealth, and a parade.

@@Kal_Al_Thor Kraghammer and Vasselheim from the stream. But there's all the stuff from the home game that they could have adapted too; adventures in Stillben, Westruun and the whole royal demon plot in Emon which is what actually led to them being so well accepted.

The first 2 episodes are a pre stream ark with the mentioned character writen out. And they weren't gifted a keep, they paid to have it built. Pretty sure that was mentioned in a Q&A. But coulda been touched upon in stream.
@@tiarnanquinn5403 It was newly built for them in the original game, taking 6 months of down time while it was completed. But you can see in the animation its an old keep; the dust, cobwebs, rusty door hinges, bits falling apart, and the tattered banners of the previous occupants

Oh man, now we get into the good stuff! Prepare for a deep dive into Percy's backstory, this whole season revolves around Percy, his family and what happened to him. I've finished the season and I can say that you are going to love the rest of the episodes, it get's even more epic and dark!

Not sure if anyone has said this, but Delilah's spells do not actually come from the necklace. The necklace acts as an arcane focus for her to cast her spells without needing other materials.

As for the keep, they were given the deed to the keep not a lease. They own the keep. They could choose to sell it though it wouldn't be looked at positively.

4:00 In dnd, a keep like they got is worth about 50,000 gold, which is pretty big, considering you can live modestly on about 365 gold a year. So, they got real estate, free and clear, worth about $5 million. Which is a pretty nice reward. Also, in dnd, a chest holds 300 pounds; 50 coins equals a pound. So, chests can hold 15,000 coins. So a chest filled with gold would be 15,000 gold. I'll take the 50,000g keep, personally. Now, maximum possible reward of a chest of coins, if a chest was filled with platinum coins, it could hold a value of 150,000g, but that was never really a possibility (platinum is rare).
Tal'dorei is pretty f*cking expensive though. Cr was never too careful with how they handle currency and they made the mistake of pricing a single cow at 50. Then a bunch of nerds crunch the numbers and realise that the purchasing power for a single gold was pathetic

Vox Machina don't live in the palace. They were Gifted their own Keep. So a main building with a surrounding grounds, courtyard and outer wall. Also if they serve the realm most of the stuff they will be called up for they can make good money off of creature parts or hordes and loot gained from their foes. Pretty sure the kingdom pays them for their other jobs as well, just not specifically outlined in this show.
Also they are talking about the smoke like Percy has ANY control over it, but that has not be established at all.

You all miss in Episode 2 in the Dragons Lair that the Party filled Their Bag of Holding with Gold and other Items.
Couple things. 1: they got the deed to their own keep. That means THEY OWN IT. 2: Percy is the only person in the world with a gun which gives him above average power, that's his "power"

@YaBoyRockLee I don't know if you realized it by the end of the season as I haven't finished watching your reactions yet since I'm watching in order, but Percy needs to be holding his Pistol for those "powers" to activate. If you'll recall, Percy was forced to check his gun at the door so he didn't have his gun for the entire dinner and once they got into the fight with The Briarwoods, Sylas disarmed Percy almost immediately. So for the bulk of that fight, Percy didn't have his gun. It was only after he picked up his gun and was wielding it combined with his welling rage and lust for vengeance did the "powers" activate. If Sylas hadn't disarmed Percy, the "powers" would have come out to play and it would have been a very different fight.

so, If I remember, correctly, in the actual Stream, they did noticeably better against the Briarwoods, I believe, dealing enough damage to force them to flee, if I recall, percy practically plows Sylas' arm off, and shoots him in the face. Matt, the DM, had to have them teleport away, in order to keep things going. pike actually wasn't there in the stream, I think, but Trinket, and, a Now left character were, and Scanlan was actually involved in the battle, as well.
Tiberius, the aforementioned, prior member, invented magic earrings that let them communicate, and, the "Chenga" scene originally used those for the communication.
Slight spoilers for campaign 1
They did kick the briarwoods asses and they fled...but that isn't great for a TV shows "main villans"(technically their deity is the main campaign villan), ya know? So they had to struggle their first encounter. Vexs first hit with the arrows was a Nat 20 and knocked Deliah on her ass in the campaign, IIRC. It was badass!

Charm in DnD is more potent than you think. They will perceive the charmer to be their most trusted friend. If you throw a hundred laweyrs at him providing crippling evidence that they are evil, he will still go through all the mental gymnastics necessary to keep believing he did nothing wrong. NOW, consider that most player's accessible charm spells at most last a day. This guy can maintain it indefinitely until someone cures the king

My thoughts on the deed, they actually could sell it and walk away if they wanted to and found a buyer, but it's not something that would be looked on as honorable to do. That's why they were given dirty looks, and who ever they sold it to would probably be easier to get the deed back from anyway. Basically, they can do what they want, just as long as they don't mind the negative opinions they would receive for it.

I'm sure the comments have told you but this is based off a dungeons and dragons campaign called Critical Role. In dnd, you have stats (strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma) that dictate how good you are at it (numbered 1-20 naturally, 1 being barely above alive and 20 being the best, though you can increase past 20 with magic) and Grog's intelligence is a 6 (average human int is 10) so he can't read or count really. that's why it jumped from 7-2 to 7-5... Scanlan was just playing into the bit to fuck with everyone
Vax and Grog have a playfully antagonistic relationship and play all kinds of pranks and shit like ball tag on each other cause cause Liam and Travis (the two who play them) like fucking with each other in game

They were given a Keep as reward, it is their keep now. They COULD sell it if they wanted to, they own it now, but Uriel is like "Really? Really dude?", plus Vex grabbed a load of gold from Brimscythe. Fun Fact, in their DnD game they named it Grayskull Keep.
Uriel would PAY them for jobs that they do, they're not slaves. As protectors of the realm they would absolutely be compensated per job they do.
