A hindu,a muslim and a jew and this combination exhibits that music doesn't have any boundaries, limit or religion Music says only one thing that whole world is one family♥️♥️
I froze for a while! I have had listened so many times but watching the creation of magic for the first time. Didn't know this video existed. Many thanks for posting it.
Same here, since I first heard it on the "In Celebration" box set decades ago. I can't believe I finally get to actually see this performed. My jaw was on the floor this entire segment. *stunned*
kommentar zu raga piloo-pt. ravi shankar & lord jehudi menuhin-1967: what a fantastic correspondence between ghitar and violin. It's the same game as with the tabla. pandith asks with the ghitar, menuhin answers. Menuhin asks and Pandit lets his githar answer and like two cocky young horses they both race next to each other at a gallop to unite and merge into a fascinating, beautiful, unique melody and become a whole, new one. really, really fantastic! thank you gentlemen!
In his young age, Ravi shaker really beautiful handsome man speedy playing fine to see another great man violin, tabla all a rakka three masters no words.......
Menuhin said one day ,on TV ( a documentary on music of the World )... that he hearded a Tsygan violonist playing in a Bar in Romania ,in a way , that was surpassing every thing he hearded in his life , from many violonist masters in the world ! I dont remember the name of that Tsygan violonist , sorry !

Amazing to see him a bit out of his depth, listening, thinking about how to approach the music. O course, he did! A reminder that the true greats never stop learning...
Here's one thing- It's always Yehudi Menuhin coming into Ravi Shankars world, but I've never heard Ravi Shankar go into Yehudi's world and play western classical music!
@@RimaB196 You can pretty much play the repriatore you can on the violin on the sitar as well! Both are modal instruments unlike the piano where you can play harmony.
Violin is versatile and adaptable to Western, Carnatic and Hindustani classical music in an admirable and perfect way whereas sitar can play only Hindustani classical and sitar is not suitable for western classical music. We do not have any symphony or concerto with guitar in lead role in western classical music nor there is one with sitar as lead instrument being a pure north Indian instrument and hence sitar does not wade into western classical music unless someone writes a symphony or concerto for sitar. Moreover western classical is composer oriented whereas Hindustani classical is performer oriented. Ravisankar can improvise western notes by following Menuhin to some extent but he never does it due to unsuitable stance of Sitar.
@@RimaB196 The beetles played Sitar in many of their songs. I think the main reason was that Pt. Ravi Shankar was an envoy of Indian classical in the world. He was not there to learn western classical. He was there to show and to teach. That's why he did not play the Western classical, atleast in his concerts. Foreigners who came to India to learn Indian classical instruments use them in their own way. You can hear many Indian instruments in many bands such as Heilung, wardruna etc who use Indian instruments in their own way. Of course it's just my thought and maybe Sitar is actually not suitable for other types of music. I am not exactly a musician.
sometimes upholding one's roots for lifetime is better than exploring other stuffs.. thats why we respect ravi shankar.. he never compromised with his roots and never let other musical genres influence his musical heritage which is more than 2000 years..

Because it is not possible otherwise...

Amazing Menuhin could do that.🥀
Menuhin was always trying new things, like when he went to Rumania as a Youth to study with the great Violoinist Enescu.🥀
Amazing to see him a bit out of his depth, listening, thinking about how to approach the music. O course, he did! A reminder that the true greats never stop learning...
