  • Marcus Garvey accomplished the largest Black movement in history. Not-withstanding the significant challenges faced during his lifetime, his inspiration lives on generations later. In this video Garvey is hailed by several of the first Black leaders in a post-colonial world.
Kwame Nkrumah became the first president of Ghana in 1957 and named Ghana's shipping line the Black Star Shipping line in honor of Marcus Garvey as well as that country's soccer team the Black Stars. Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of Kenya in 1963 shared that Marcus Garvey’s ideas were a major influence on him.
Nnamdi Azikiwe, first president of Nigeria in 1963 also spoke of the impact of Marcus Garvey’s message on his life and that reading Garvey's Negro World had shaped his world view. Julius Nyerere, the first president of Tanzania in 1961 had hailed Garvey's teachings as a major influence on his life.
The parents of Malcolm X were members of Marcus Garvey’s organization. The honorable Elijah Muhammad, leader of the Nation of Islam praised Marcus Garvey as the forerunner who had laid the foundation for the Nation of Islam and noted that they had carried on the work of Marcus Garvey.

Nosa Okunmwendia Brother I witnessed The Creator of heaven and earth praise the dead. It is Garvey, Bob Marley and Shaka Zulu and a few others. Bob is the last prophet and Shaka was greater than David, although the vultures were encircling South Africa but they could not approach the Zulus because of Shaka's spirit and when the Zulus killed Shaka they opened the floodgates of devils. Remember this conversation for you will hear it again.

Much respect to Marcus Mosiah Garvey who has been a hero of mine since I learned about him; however, the largest Black movement in history is led by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I. First as the last reigning Emperor of the Ethiopian Empire and as the head organizer of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now known as the African Union. Note: His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I is also the head of Rastafarians worldwide! #Bless!

We as a people can still be dignified and carry on what Garvey started by repartriation.
We can only attain dignity by going forward to our mother land “Africa” seperate ourselves from the evil canannites once and for all from America and go back home to Africa.
Sahahamane in Ethiopia can accommodate all black people living in America today, a fertile land, the good land that Hali Selassi I had given unto us freely and we have not taken up the challenge to be dignified once again as Kings,Princes,Princess, queens and subjects in our kingdom.

Truly incredible that there is land available in Shashemene for those who will accept the offer.
But I’m not sure why in the 21st century we are still holding onto to the idea that we need to “return” to being monarchy. Not every ancestor was a royal.
Isn’t it enough to just learn, accept and celebrate who we are? West African diaspora. Nothing nor a thing to do with Ethiopia apart from being on the same continent. An Inuit is not an Aztec. Akan is not Amharic. We can’t repatriate to a place and culture we don’t come from. If welcome, you can go and live the life you choose! It’s not repatriation.
I would rather explore ties and build relationships to the place and people my ancestors came from. Praying someday West African nations officially welcome diaspora home with a similar offer of actual repatriation.
But best wishes to all in their beliefs and journeys.

Much respect to Marcus Garvey and all who were part of uplifting the African Diaspora. 100 years later we can study, appreciate and be inspired. But can’t we also recognize, understand and learn from missteps?
It’s been enough time now that we can value and understand his views in the 1930s but sift out ideas that are of no use in the 21st century.
Pan-Africanism is a lofty goal but it won’t happen without… Africans. Africans don’t see their 100s of cultures as one so how can we impose that view on them?
For example, sending diaspora back to Africa to form Liberia was its own form of colonialism, just with a Black face.
Repatriation to Ethiopia is not real because we are West African. When I connect with my ancestors, they are not bringing me guidance borne of Ethiopia. But if you’re welcome in Ethiopia and want to go accept land, best to you.
I won’t even get started on the KKK association, and Nation of Islam forming in the name of Black progress by a conman who wasn’t Black.
It’s 2022 (or some subsequent year 😂). We have access to information and we should absorb it critically. “None but ourselves can free our minds”

The repatriates did not IMPOSE OR ENFORCED THEIR INFLUENCES UPON THE INDGIENOUS THAT WERE PRESENT. they purchased a settlement that later became a commonwealth and later became a republic. This republic had a constitution that was for and Protected the rights of every black African who would set foot on Liberian soil.
Never you compare Liberia with colonialism. This is not and was never Liberia.
It was never a colonialism movement. It was a back to Africa movement. It was a call to go back to where they can be free of subjection.
